Connel had brought Lira with him to not only visit Chrysa (his mother) but to see “Father”).
Lira Voss… Caltin Vanagor… Caltin Vanagor… Lira Voss. Now obviously they were face to face with a statue. The one Connel’s uncle
It surprised the Jedi to see Lira actually a little intimidated to be in front of “him.” Perhaps it was because of what he represented, perhaps it was because of the Lionguard checking them in and being in the area (this is in the outer courtyard to the castle after all), it did not matter. ”It’s an honor.”
She meant it. This surprised him, not in a bad way, he knew she cared, but he was expecting her to say something about how big the statue was, though it was to scale. Maybe she was just cold. You okay?
She just looked at him and smiled, noting how it was nicer to get to understand him a bit better now. It was surprising to her how highly regarded he was here. It was of course thanks to the man in front of them, but that was a story in itself. It was more proof that Connel never really liked to talk about himself. Even here, he is still blown away when people approach him in awe.
I mean, who am I? You know?
They just spent some time there, she actually told Caltin about herself, which would make onlookers who don’t know the story wonder why she was talking to a statue, but it was… nice. They shared a quiet moment of reflection, appreciating the weight of their shared experiences. She felt a deeper connection to him, understanding how his humility shaped his character. The statue, once just an object, now symbolized the respect and legacy he carried, even if he struggled to see it himself.
I just wanted you to meet her Dad. I know you’ll show up and do so officially, but yeah. I just want you to know, all you passed on, all you think I wasn’t paying attention to… I get it. He smiled. I know that you will, that you always will… but you don’t have to work for me anymore.
She gave him a good squeeze and an appreciative smile. Which of course meant Buster came running in, the guards had finished his belly rubs and treats so that meant he could finally catch up.
(OOC Note - I know that this is “public” but if I could keep it to people who live on/have been to Midvinter or know Connel, that would be great. This was going to be an article, but changed my mind)
