SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Ion Cannon: Much of the front part of the Sleen is occupied by an Ion Cannon. While not powerful enough to knock out large vehicles in a single shot, the cannon is more than capable of disabling most small and medium sized vehicles with only one or two shots. A dedicated power supply for the cannon also allows it to fire fairly rapidly if needed, allowing it to impact larger vehicles in quick succession to potentially disable or stall specific areas rather than the entire machine.
  • Reconnaissance Suite: With its role mainly being that of scouting enemy forces and positions, the Sleen is outfitted with a rather impressive sensor and communication suite. A Target Identification Network that can be coordinated with other vehicles to be made more accurate, an integrated and encrypted communications system, a diverse sensor package, a sophisticated sensor jammer, and a targeting computer integrated into the suite to make the sensors more accurate and useful to both the speeder bike and the receivers of the data that a Sleen provides.
STRENGTHS
  • First In, First Out: Far and away the most notable quality of the Sleen speeder bikes are their speed and maneuverability, often being jokingly compared to starfighters in terms of their handling and thrust. Combined with the repulsorlifts, this allows for the Sleens to be used for quick deployment and assault. They specialize in moving in quick, disabling or destroying lighter vehicles or defensive hardpoints, then retreating before too much damage can be dealt to them in return.
  • Additional Weaponry: While the standard model Sleen comes with suitable and capable weaponry for a vehicle of its size and class, two dedicated modules that can be attached or removed from the speeder bike offer some additional firepower and versatility. Model-B features a swiveling repeating blaster cannon in addition to a seat for the gunner and another seat for a passenger, both in place of the cargo storage that comes standard. Model-C is almost identical aside from the blaster cannon being replaced with a mortar. These two modifications allow for the Sleen to be used in more active anti-infantry and infantry support roles and offer greater support to whatever armored contingents they may be part of.
WEAKNESSES
  • Speed our Shield: Speed and maneuverability are essentially the main defense of the Sleen speeder bikes. Although armored, this armor is fairly light and is essentially only useful against handheld blaster fire or glancing hits from larger weapons. Even the most armored points can be easily pierced by most standard laser cannons and other such weaponry, making them a very fragile and dangerous vehicle in almost any engagement.
  • Open Warfare: Although these speeder bikes can be fairly versatile in their usage during combat, as with most speeder bikes they are very undesirable for any engagements not done in fairly open terrain. With slower speeds as to not ram into something as well as their relatively negligible armor, the Sleen becomes little more than a simple and fragile weapons platform in any environment that doesn't entail open areas with plenty of room to maneuver around and dodge enemy fire.
DESCRIPTION
With plenty of smuggler and pirate equipment in the hands of Alisteri Haxim and his followers after his takeover of Faldos and his growing influence on Formos, work quickly began to study and put these various assets to use. One of the most common vehicles among their supplies on both worlds would be that of speeders, many of which would be dismantled and used to produce Mailoc Combat Speeders. However there was a fairly large stock of speeder bikes gathered from various gangs and pirates in addition to the larger speeders.

While many of these speeder bikes were of different make and model, meaning that fielding them as they were would be too straining on logistics, they also shared many common features and designs that could be salvaged and reused to craft more uniform models. So Alisteri ordered his engineers on both worlds to begin the process of designing a standard speeder bike to supplement his forces, tasking them to work together given their lack of any real cooperation thus far. Many long nights of deliberation, meetings, arguments, and field tests later, and the first prototype of the Sleen Speeder Bike was presented to the Sith Knight. Named after a creature from Dromund Kaas, much like the Mailoc line had been, the Sleen was fast and perfectly suited for reconnaissance as well as supporting armored units and even infantry due to its weapons.

One notable feature that had been the subject of many debates was the additional weaponry that the speeder bike could be outfitted with. The upper rear of the craft was dedicated to cargo storage by default, being just a flat area that crates could be tied down onto, but that flat area also allowed for the fairly easy attachment of modules. The two main modifications that every Sleen would be manufactured with were labeled Model-B and Model-C respectively, with both being identical aside from their armament. Model-B featured two additional seats with one meant to be the gunner for the mounted swiveling repeating blaster cannon that came with the module, allowing for the Sleen to guard its rear and give it a dedicated anti-infantry weapon. Model-C was largely the same but the repeating blaster cannon would be traded for a mortar instead, making use of the reconnaissance suite to rain down accurate fire upon enemies in a form of very light yet very mobile artillery.

Alisteri was impressed by these speeder bikes and their potential for additional utility, so much so that he ordered them to be put into production much like the Mailoc had been in order to supply not only his forces but also offer an additional speeder bike option for the wider Sith Order as well. A task that the engineers and factories would be more than prepared for due to their aforementioned plethora of speeder bikes that could be converted.
