STRENGTHS
  • The Shockwave is designed for maximum long-range devastation with its extensive armament of missile launchers, turbolasers, and mass drivers. With eighty standard variable warhead launchers able to field most conventional missiles and torpedoes and ten heavy assault concussion missile launchers, the ship can hang back behind a battleline and wreak havoc on the enemy.
  • The Shockwave is also equipped with extensive defenses, with multiple layers of armored hull plating and multiple layers of shielding. This allows the ship to have enhanced durability when engaged in combat, just to be sure the explosive cargoes it carries don't ignite on the crew. The ship also fields a wide net of defensive weapon emplacements to keep enemy fighters and ordinance off of it.
  • A Maelstrom is equipped to the ship to help the gunnery crews with target locks for their missiles and keeping track of enemy forces that might be a threat to the ship.
WEAKNESSES
  • If enemy fire is able to breach the defenses around the missile cargo holds, the entire ship is likely to go up in a massive explosion.
  • Utilizing the versatility of its weapon systems can result in a few issues with examples being overheating with the Leamondes and Salamands and ammunition concerns with the Gnoma Mass Drivers when switching between their firing modes too quickly.
  • Due to its role as being a missile cruiser, the crew and officers need to keep careful track of their missiles as they can easily run out of missiles after a few heavy barrages.
  • The crystal matrix that acts as the heart of the Maelstrom system, if damaged, will immediately kill the system and it will be unusable until a new one is installed.
DESCRIPTION

The seventh warship to be designed for Aurora Industries' Phase III modernization program, the Shockwave-class Missile Cruiser is a new line of ship for the company that is designed to unleash heavy missile barrages from behind a battleline to inflict horrific damage on enemy starships. Taking lessons from the ancient Victory-class Star Destroyer, the primary weapon systems of the Shockwave are its eighty variable warhead missile launchers and the ten heavy assault concussion missile launchers that allows a commander to unleash heavy barrages of missiles that can deal heavy damage and overwhelm enemy defenses and formations. The ship is also equipped with several batteries of Aurora Industries' turbolasers and mass drivers for more conventional ship combat if the crew is forced to engage in such.

The defenses of the ship include multiple layers of armored hull plating, with a special focus around where the missiles in the ship are stored, and multiple layers of shielding. Several extra ray shield emitters are included in the missile cargo holds to try and at least mitigate possible explosions there if an enemy attack hit it, although the engineers of the design team know that it might not be enough. A Maelstrom targeting system was also included to allow better tracking of enemy fighters and ordinance and for targeting enemy ships and formations for attack.
