DESCRIPTION
The next step up in Akaran design, the Shimushu-class of escort destroyers is designed to plug the gap between the gunboat style vessels and heavier craft to come. These ships are focused more on firepower, decreasing the number of warheads they bring to the battle, while increasing their individual survivability by equipping a light shield system. The class relies on speed and numbers to be victorious when in actual combat, often being deployed in pairs alongside several of the smaller Hashidate while on patrols. In larger formations, these vessels fill a desired niche at the edges of a formation, screening against smaller craft as well as providing fire support against larger targets.
