This is a follow-up to "The Sword Returns", while I made it "private" anyone who wants in is welcome
Through his life, Connel has been many things, and he has been called many more. One aspect of him that has remained constant is his dedication to protecting others and doing the right thing, even when it is difficult. Today has been no different. Connel has always been a man of action, rarely of social interaction, more so he’s been a man of conviction. The conviction has cost Connel many things, but he has never lost sight of who he is or what he stands for.

That is why he was walking away from the gathering called by "The Sword". Sure, his intentions were noble, they were not entirely thought out as while he may not have wanted others to fall down the rabbit hole, many of them were jumping in freely. It was not his place to stop them, nor was it his place to judge them, but he could not be a part of it.

There was a time when Connel would have been the first to jump into the fray, to fight for what he believed in, but he had learned that sometimes the best way to protect others was to step back and let them make their own choices. It was a hard lesson, but one that he had learned well, and one that he would carry with him for the rest of his days. What was the point of fighting for freedom if you lost yourself in the process? He had seen too many good people lose themselves in a cause, coated in the honey of “a righteous crusade” or “doing this so no one else has to”.

They’re following the path he is scratching and clawing to get out of.
