GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Sal-Aru
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins:
  • Average Lifespan: 3,000-7,000 Years
  • Estimated Population: Inter-Planetary
  • Description: Green bodies, lithe forms and black eyes. The Sal are in some ways considered cousins to the Tal and built much the same with their bodies muscled and feminine looking but they are plants like Neti. With branches that grow from their feet and hands. Fruits that can grow off of their backs and sap for blood.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type 1
  • Average Height of Adults:
    • 2m (alive)
    • 3-10m (dead)
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: Green (multiple shades), brown (multiple shades)
  • Hair color: Green, black
  • Distinctions:
    • Slim figure
    • Asexual,
    • Jet black eyes
  • Races: No distinct difference between them across the asobi system. Only major changes is how they function if they are in a city or in a forest.
  • Force Sensitivity: Rare
Strengths:
  • Long Live: Based on the Turritopsis dohrnii when they reach maturity and near the end of their lives they can reproduce once and only once returning to a sapling form that is carried away and grows. Their old bodies become rooted to the ground and continue to grow providing beauty to the land while they go through their life cycle once again.
  • Saplings: A small thing that can be done, maturity is achieved after one thousand years of their lives and when in danger or adverse conditions the species can reproduce ending their bdies life and going through their life cycle anew
Weaknesses:
  • Fixed population: The species reproduces asexually and only once in their life
  • Hunted: Their sap is enriched from centuries upon centuries of living and "rumored" to be the key to eternal life.
OOC Note: Sap is very nutritious and can be applied as a clear skin bandage preventing infection to wounds but does not heal... these are terrible rumors spread because of the creatures ability to live for long periods of time.
  • Night blind: They cannot see in the dark
  • Aversion to fire: They are petrified of fire and phobic of it.
  • Aversion to cold: They dislike the cold, they can go into it but would prefer not to as their feet roots cannot dig into the snow and ice
CULTURE
  • Diet: Sunlight, sugar, water, plant food
  • Communication: Verbal
  • Technology level: Below Galactic Standard
  • Religion/Beliefs:
    • The Sal are very private, their interaction with each other is not on the largest scale as large gatherings can endanger them and attract hunters chasing rumors. The history they share is of a world very different from before the time of the Warriors of shadow and how the Asobi system was visited by the destroyers in large ships from the sky, how they created the gates to link this world to the rest of the galaxy and endangered the rest of them in a calamity. There are ancient Sal paintings carved in caves across the Asobi system and usually made home hordes for the fearsome Tals.
  • General behavior:
    • The Sals in general are soft spoken and kind, they are passive following an ancient ideal of their people from when they had cities expanding across the Asobi system. Their pride though and their memories are what makes them agreeable to visit and allow others to join them in revelry as they dance under the sun in fields of large flowers.

To ones who try and hunt them down they are passive refusing to use a weapon but not adverse to crafting traps, to luring them into Tal territory and letting the fast talon handed beings rip them apart. It isn't because they are uncaring it is because their people have been hunted across the stars and system for something they do not possess.

With each other they are friendly, knowing each other from one cycle or another and having grown up or apart since then. It is a deep sense of comradely as well as pride. With themselves when they find their former forms and look upon the ancient trees they are happy expressing a sense of confirmation that they still live and honoring it. There is a rumor that the forests of the Asobi system are just Sal's who have passed stretching up high towards the sun.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Sal's history is vague mostly because of their lives. They remember what they have done, they do not need to write that down but to teach others they have made cave paintings. Ancient drawings of themselves and the ancient Tal's living in a symbiotic circle that benefited the planet with the Dels. Then the beings from the sky came and razed the planets taking away their technology back to a certain point. All attempts to recover were met with another visit and destruction again and slowly the civilization began to understand.

They were not meant to have technology and moved to live off the land scattering with their friends far and wide across the palnet and the system. Bringing life to the ruins with the other species of the Asobi system and seeing it all become something beautiful. Then more came, the Warriors of the shadow and the taung sisterhood brought slaves with them. The Tal and the Sal didn't interact and fight against them as much as the Dels or the Astrisians as they were called. They rose up eventually as time went on moving through the centuries.

Eventually the taung died out and the humans began to work with the Dels, their former slavery doing as they needed and not subjecting others. They worked with the Dels to build the world up, venturing to Cazador and Sekirei to observe and help, using all that came upon them to strengthen the resolve to succeed. The Sals working more with the people then the Tals but the results in the end were the same, they had rebuilt the civilization the the beings from the sky did not return again. Instead as the years became centuries and time tricked on others came.

Other leaders, other tyrants and the Sals were observed they were hunted by them seeking the secret they held. THeir lives one long life and being experimented on them, harvested them, destroyed forests to find them and the Saks scattered fleeing across the system and outwards into the stars to protect themselves not gathering together. Then time continued to go on, they got clever, found ways to trick, found ways to survive and fight back without killing and endangering themselves. The Tals proved a strong and fearsome killer compared to them and still more came.

The Empire as it was calling itself, men in white armor, females in grey and they brought many things, dangerous things. Darksiders, hatred and biodomes to grow their secrets. They wanted to exploit the isolation and remote location within the nebula around the system to hide their secrets. Slowly the Sals continued to hide and thrive as rebels came and started working to undermine the empire eventually time ticked away and collapsed until the Republic came. The darkness formed while sickness came to the world and devastated the population.

The Sals benefited and were able to protect themselves mostly still taking a large hit but most regenerated and left their infected bodies to grow and become trees within the forests. Working to try and resist the plague but hoping it would not come again in the lifetime as they worked to recover with the rest of the galaxy and system welcoming the silver jedi when they arrived to help recover after the exit of the sith empire.

WIth the attacks in the regions housing the scar worlds and the Asobi system.. the Sal like other species were rescued by Sor-Jan's effortts and transplanted to other worlds to well survive. THey wouldn't really repopulate or make massive numbers they were a scattered species that could live and wait until their homeworld was returned to them along with many fo the other species that had been moved off world.

So if they can't repouplate, and can die, once 40,000 of them die, they go extinct? I like the concept. Just keep the genocidal sith lords *coughs at Vorksnr* away from them.

Out of curiosity, do the dead Sal-Aru's contine to grow after they're dead? Are their dead bodies still alive? If not, why don't they rot, or become hollow?

Just that one clarification, and you should be good to go! I really like these.

[member="Mrrew"] their bodies after they die are rooted trees. Much like Neti's could and would become a tree that was living still such as on Ossus (and could still come back to deliver a force blast into space 5,000 years later) these can't still attack and they can die if something happens. They can be cut down, they can be burned, they can be hollowed out and used by creatures. Their child has been released and all that remains is the shell. The length of time they can continue to live for well the tree's on Kashyyyk survived for tens of thousands of years growing out of control and across the planet.
