GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Tova-Ra
  • Designation: Non-Sentient
  • Origins:
  • Average Lifespan: 5 years
  • Estimated Population: Inter-Planetary
  • Description: Slimy and dangerous with thin bodies that allow them to go through the watger quickly and leap onto land. Their organs for breathing on land still need to be somewhat submerged in mud and water but their main danger is the hundreds of small needle like teeth that can tear through flesh and cloth.Their coloration changes with different areas, those near ice will be more pale and bluish while those in the more brackish waters become black or in jungles green and grey.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Underwater, Type 1
  • Average Height of Adults: .5m
  • Average Length of Adults: .2m
  • Skin color: Bronze, Gold, Black, Silver
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: Color changes by region
  • Races: No large distinctions worth noting, the different colors are just random from genetics
  • Force Sensitivity: Low
Strengths:
  • Suprabranchial organs: They can breathe and live on land for up to five days as long as they stay wet.
Apex Predator: While small there is not a large amount of creatures in their native spawning grounds that can kill them.
Adaptability: The Tova-Ra are able to acclimate to water quickly and are considered a delicacy leading to them being smuggled offworld. Their bodies (much like a bull shark) can thrive within salt water and freshwater.
Weaknesses:
  • Short Life Span: They do not live that long naturally
Poisonous: Their body has small sacks of poison within them that make them dangerous to eat when not prepared correctly. When they attack each other they can often poison themselves.
CULTURE
  • Diet: Aquatic Insects, plankton, fish, small mammals
  • Communication: Gesticulation of their phobis
  • Technology level: They do not use technology
  • Religion/Beliefs: The Tova-Ra doesn't not have much of a culture, it reaches sexual maturity after a year and the females can lay up to 20,000 eggs at a time. It can mate every three months for over 80,000 eggs a year over its four final years of life.
  • General behavior:
  • It seeks to breed and expand, consuming most of the ecology around it and devastating some places where it is introduced. The spawning and ability for it to survive outside of the water allows it to travel towards other sources of fresh or salt water.

Typically they are a lone fish going off on their own but are attracted to blood (either prey or each other) when they scent blood they will all swarm on the source often attacking each other in the process. On land they move in groups but will still attack each other.

When a predator that is larger then them finds them, attacks them their poison usually will weaken it and if near a body of water it will fall in the water for the others to eat.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Discovered in the lakes of Shri-Tal, the fish was at first left alone before the Taung's realized how dangerous it could be. Able to survive on land and growing in some places to be the length of a maalraas with teeth just as sharp. The Tova-Ra's were hunted down and eaten en mass making it a delicacy for many, a tradition that has continued on throughout the centuries until now when it can be sold to the galaxy. The creatures hardy disposition and ability to thrive in a number of different worlds has led to it being sold off at first and then smuggled off world to others so that it could be raised or abandoned once someone realized the creature attacks anything that looks tasty.

Interesting. Another Shri-Tal creature.

Could you expand on the general behavior? What does it do if its encountered by a predator? Is it a school fish, like Pirhanas, or solitary?

I did't even know they were fish until you said 'Discovered in the lakes of Shri-Tal the fish'.

Sorry about the wait, by the way.

Yes I am making several creatures, species and plants that will be on the world

plus other planets in the system.

Edited and yes it is a fish, a snakehead/piranha mix with a little puffer fish thrown in for flavor.
