  • City Name: Resa
  • Classification: Rural Town
  • Location: Kestri along the Cin'ciri mountain range
  • Affiliation: The Mandokarla
  • Population: Moderate
    IWVrTVj.png

  • Demographics ::
    Many Mandalorians are Human, and as such make up a sizeable portion of Resa' population. However, there are a number of species whose culture or society are steeped in the natural world that may find Resa a welcome refuge from cities full of industry, duracrete, and beskar. Everyone -- Mandalorian or otherwise -- is welcome to Resa to seek counsel or to recenter themselves spiritually.

  • Wealth: Medium ::
    The Mandokarla and those residing for short- or long-term in Resa do not seek to develop material wealth; their efforts are largely not-for-profit, which allows them to purchase necessities to survive, train, and construct goods, but not so much that they have elaborate transportation systems, skyscrapers, or the need for either.

  • Stability: High ::
    Resa is under the protection of the Pathfinders and Shaman of the Mandokarla, whose headquarters is located atop a rocky outcropping that looks out over the small community. Those seeking counsel or tranquility are not prone to violence, and any disturbed enough to lash out are responded to quickly and appropriately. The focus of the community is to escape the demands of modern, urban living even if just for a time. Even the Mandokarla themselves have rituals to remove corruption should it surface within their ranks.

  • Freedom & Oppression ::
    The People of Resa do not fear those of the Mandokarla, but they do abide by their law. All are welcome to live their lives as they see fit provided it does not intrude upon the lives of others. Many engage in a form of bartering or trade of skills, services, and goods in order to survive with as few technologically-based comforts urban environments take for granted. Disagreements are expected to be handled responsibly, but failing in that then the Pathfinders and Shaman will seek to restore the balance within their community; typically only violent crimes against nature, one another, and the Manda warrant punishment.

  • Description ::
    The Village of Resa rests on the slopes of the Cin'ciri mountain range. Relatively small dwellings are erected to house its inhabitants often made out of natural materials harvested and worked by hand. The people often reside near one another, but without the density requiring conjoined-walls or multi-level tenancy. Workshops, Farms, and a Market all have their established areas around the city to reduce noise or animal intrusion into the residential areas. Atop a nearby rock face is the Briirud (Round House) of the Mandokarla with stone steps that circle up toward the plateau on which the building is built. It is quiet and peaceful community allowing people to focus on the craft made by hard work and diligence alone, and to reconnect with a world they may no longer feel apart of.

  • Briirud (Round House) ::
    A three-story, circular building with a sloped roof made predominantly of local wood and stone. Some modern synthetic materials and alloys were used to flush out the design (such as sound dampening and energy efficiency), but the architecture is otherwise hand-made, built, sealed, and tended. In the center of the first floor is an expansive, circular room where the many may gather for rituals, discussions, or instruction; and a circular opening in the ceiling allows any smoke from a fire to escape.

    This building serves as the sanctuary of the Mandokarla within Enclave space. Those seeking to become members often train here, while more experienced Pathfinders and Shaman offer counsel to those seeking their help. Members are often granted their own chamber with a comfortable if modest amount of furniture; the room and board are free, though the amount of credits received for their work is relatively small compared to a job in the city.

  • Ramurapr (Workshops) ::
    There are several buildings constructed for the purpose of crafting and manufacturing; many of which produce hand-crafted items to allow the craftsman the opportunity to sink into their work so it is imbued with a part of their Soul. Some possess actual machinery, but rely on renewable resources or non-polluting technologies.
    IWVrTVj.png

  • Juvna (Homesteads) ::
    Many homes lay scattered in the surrounding region. Most reside within sight of the Briirud to form a tight-knit community where most residents know one another. Resa is not a city of secrets or intrigue; such run counter the desire for Mandalorians to find themselves -- their Path -- in this life.
    IWVrTVj.png

  • Ja'napr (Market) ::
    With such a small community there is a single market where goods are made and sold. Local chefs and bakers often have stalls or open counters for people to sample home-cooked meals, or fresh produce from local farmers for those that take the time to prepare their own dishes. Some items from the cities can be found here as well, though the Mandokarla emphasizes such things should not bring the distractions of the galactic community to Resa; narcotics, for instances, are therefore banned.
    IWVrTVj.png

  • Garsa (Farms) ::
    Some have taken to farming in what is naturally cold-tolerant produce in the region. Such farms are few in number, but staffed by hardworking folk whose efforts are not unrewarded.

High :: The Mandalorians themselves are the greatest resource in defending the village. While it lacks giant turbolaser cannons or shield generators, the people of the village are far from unarmed or untrained. Even the Shaman -- which some might mistake as religious zealots -- are adept at combat and not to be underestimated by intruders.

When the Mandalorian Enclave established Kestri as their new home, Runi Kuryida could already see the beginnings of a modern society being formed. While she had no problem with her people making use of technological development and industry, much had befallen the Mandalorian people in recent years. She felt a refuge away from the bustle of modern 'society' and a place where the Mandokarla could help people find their Paths (meaning) once more would be needed. While people lived among the trappings of everyday life, it would be too easy to become distracted by such things even as they sought to rediscover their own identities; a village separate from all of that was needed so such men and women could go undisturbed in their time of reflection.

In the beginning, Runi assembled a number of Mandokarla that had been gravitating toward the Enclave to aid her in constructing the Briirud. The Mandokarla also constructed the first dwellings that would serve as the foundation of the Village proper where they themselves slep as construction was under way. Once the circular building was completed, most moved out of the dwellings and into the Briirud; which made room for more men and women to join them and help in constructing even more dwellings, workshops, and more.

There was no mass-marketed appeal to the galaxy to come to Resa though. Members of the Mandokarla, including Runi herself, invited people when it seemed they were in need of a refuge from modern society and the many wars throughout the galaxy. Such invitations were to reside within the village for as long as they desired. No expectation of a life-long commitment was made as the Mandokarla believed adversary was put there to force people to change, adapt, and grow -- individually and as a community. To amass people as many cities did was not at all the point, but no one would be told to leave before they had chosen to do so either.

To this day, Resa continues to serve as that refuge and is open to all -- Mandalorian or otherwise -- that seeks to rediscover themselves or the spiritual guidance of the Mandokarla.
