ADVANCED FEATURES

STRENGTHS
  • AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component - Maintaining an ablative current that is sent coursing through a vessel's hull, the component itself is utilized to reduce hull damage. Utilized in such a way, it aids in increasing the longevity and endurance of a starship's hull, allowing for increased engagements and longer durations between repairs and overhauls in a dedicated shipyard or repair facility.
  • GalaxyGuard Mk VII - Designed as an enhancement to a vessel's Deflector Shield Generators, the GalaxyGuard provides increased endurance and range to the shields generated to protect the vessel. Up to three such devices can be stacked to provide greater endurance and range to a vessel's Deflector Shields, greatly increasing the defensive capabilities of the vessel utilizing these devices.
  • Automation - Retaining similar functions as its predecessors, the Recusant-class has a number of primary and secondary systems that are automated through the use of integrated droid brains. As a means to overcome the poor reaction times often associated with the utilization of these integrated droid brains - and barring the utilization of higher-functioning and more expensive droid brains that are limited in availability - the Recusant-class retains a larger crew complement to compensate for this drawback.
  • Reinforced Structural Design - Though carrying over similar design elements from its predecessors, much of the Recusant-class was redesigned to address those areas in which the vessel's more skeletal-like appearance was a detriment to the vessel. These sections, though not entirely redesigned, have been heavily reinforced compared to previous Recusant-class vessels.
  • Fusion Accelerator Cannon - Experimental in its time, and still considered as such, its original predecessor was mounted on the Rebel Alliance Nebulon-B Frigate 'The Salvation'. A series of capacitors mounted along the internal length of the vessel provides the power to fire the weapon - though not as destructive as what was seen on Kamino with the Salvation, the weapon still packs an ample punch to make it a formidable main gun.
  • Military Carrier - Much like its predecessors, the Recusant-class is capable of ferrying a large number of deactivated battle droids, their support materials, and vehicles, as well as a small contingent of organic military forces. With what little Support Craft Squadrons it maintains being solely dedicated to the deployment of these forces planetside.

WEAKNESSES
  • Limited Maneuverability - Designed primarily around its primary weapon, the Recusant-class is not as easily maneuvered as similar vessels or those Star Destroyers that are designed to be more maneuverable. For this reason, mixed with its lower speed, the vessel remains dependent on additional support vessels to prevent it from being out-flanked or otherwise overtaken by smaller more maneuverable craft such as Frigates, Corvettes, and Starfighters and Bomber assaults.
  • Limited Speed - The Recusant-class, though classified as a Light Destroyer, is still very much within what many would consider the Star Destroyer classification. For this reason, its speed is greatly lacking compared to similarly classified vessels or those that are more focused on speed. This often requires the vessel to rely on support vessels to prevent it from being overtaken by rapidly moving targets, lightning strikes, or similar maneuvers meant to outflank the slow-moving vessel.
  • Automation - Beyond the compensate drawback of poor reaction times from utilizing integrated droid brains; an additional problem comes in the form of Ion-based weaponry. Due to multiple systems being controlled by automated features, substantial or sustained damage from Ion-based weapons has the potential of shutting down these automated features, making the vessel even more difficult to control for what is still, arguably, a skeleton crew.
  • Support Vessels - Though carrying a larger Starfighter compliment than some predecessor vessels of the Recusant-class, the vessel's design and skeletal appearance, provides ample hiding places or targets for skilled fighters. This means that the vessel is still heavily reliant upon smaller support craft such as frigates or corvettes to assist in handling dedicated starfighter and bombing screens.
  • Fusion Accelerator Cannon - Experimental in its time, the design and function of the weapon - as well as its mounting placement along the length of the vessel - requires multiple fail-safes and secondary systems to ensure its proper firing. This includes momentarily dropping the forward shields or shuttering them to allow the weapon to fire, as well as external exhaust ports to assist in cooling and venting excess heat built up during the firing of the weapon. The vulnerability that the vessel is placed in when firing its main weapon often forces it to be utilized in long-distance engagements or as an opening volley and not in the middle of an engagement.
  • Aim the Vessel - The primary weapon of the Recusant-class is mounted along the length of the vessel, rather than a contained section or turret-like many of its other weapons. For this reason, in order to properly utilize the Fusion Accelerator Cannon, the vessel itself must be maneuvered and properly aimed at a target before firing - often making the weapon incapable of hitting fast-moving targets due to the lack of maneuverability and speed of the Recusant-class.

DESCRIPTION
An updated variant of the Recusant-class Light Destroyer - and sitting comfortably within the standardization of Star Destroyer - the vessel is slightly larger than the original variant that was utilized by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the height of the Clone Wars, and still, it remains smaller than the Recusant II-class that is often fielded by the current Confederacy. Its primary differences, however, are seen in its heavier armament and defenses, as well as its larger capacity to carry starfighters and support craft. Likewise, in an effort to overcome the well-known slow reaction speed of its integrated droid brains - and due in part to the limited availability of higher functioning droid brains - the vessel maintains a larger organic crew than its predecessors.

Its primary strength comes from its heavier armaments, more specifically, with the semi-experimental weapon that was last seen during the Galactic Civil War between the Palpatine's Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic - the Fusion Accelerator Cannon. Though not as capable as the weapon that was installed on the Salvation, the weapon carried on the Recusant-class is still more than capable of packing a strong punch. This is coupled with its more powerful Agrocite Cannons - a stronger variant of the Turbolaser Cannon, which was developed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the height of the Clone Wars. Additional features that lend to the increase in both firepower and defensive capabilities is the inclusion of the AR-0B Damage Reduction Armor Component and its utilization of a series of GalaxyGuard Mk VII - both components utilized to greatly increase the endurance of the hull-plating and deflector shields.

This is not to say that the Recusant-class is without any kind of drawbacks, rather, those can be seen in its utilization of automated systems - which themselves can be destroyed or disabled with sustained or pinpoint strikes from Ion-based weaponry. In this instance, it would place a greater burden on the organic crew to properly control the vessel and it's many systems without the assistance of those automated systems handling that particular burden. Additionally, the vessel retains similar design aspects and features of predecessor vessels - primarily its vaguely skeletal appearance - which can be utilized against it by skilled or daring starfighter or bomber pilots. And though it is capable of fielding its own complement of Starfighters, the Recusant-class is still heavily reliant upon additional support craft to overcome dedicated Starfighter screens.

Similarly, its main gun, the Fusion Accelerator Cannon, is mounted along the length of the vessel, requiring that the vessel itself is maneuvered to properly aim the weapon - greatly reducing its effectiveness in close engagements. Furthermore, when fired, the frontal shields must be shuttered or disabled during the duration of its operation, increasing the vulnerability of the vessel - and regulating the use of the Fusion Accelerator Cannon for long-range engagements or as an opening volley before the Recusant-class enters the engagement after closing the distance.

Even with the drawbacks still present in regards to its integrated droid brains, and the vulnerability experienced when operating its primary weapon, its overall heavy armaments, defenses, and its expanded capability of fielding starfighter and support squadrons make the Recusant-class a suitable replacement vessel for its aging predecessors - or at the very least - dedicated support and as a means to augment those fleets that those older vessels are still operational within.
