Lightsaber, Refuge, Respite, Jedi Outcasts, Grafted into Stone
"...that's the last few supply shuttles packed up, Master Kai'el. They'll be taking off for the Grafted into Stone in just a few minutes."

Jasper nodded to the dock worker in affirmation and turned his head away from his data pad, looking out into the vast ocean of Maramere. He and many other Jedi he had gathered were stood on a commercial Ocean platform, a hybrid between shipping dock and spaceport. In a matter of hours they would be off on a journey into the stars. After being present for a meeting between what Jedi remained following the fall of the Galactic Alliance, the Jedi Master had finally decided that it was time for him to make something of himself again. He still had a lot to fight for, and a fire that burned hot in his soul. Allies from back in the days of the Tingel Arm repayed a favor, and he had himself a capital ship worthy of being an inconvenience to all who would do wrong by the common man.

Their first target would be the Sith, who first he wasn't sure. He still needed to sit down with Braze and learn what he had managed to gather about the order hidden behind the Blackwall, so in the meantime the Covenant seemed poised for some impending chaos. They'd spend the next days living stateless, moving quickly from place to place to wear thin whatever they could. That would be his contribution to the coming war.

And when it was time the Grafted into Stone would join up with whoever could lead the charge.

For now though it was a matter of gathering those who were getting antsy to put their talents to use. He had sent out more personalized messages to those who's skills may be of use. This was to be a fighting force after all, not a club for training and philosophy. As he stood and pondered the future, his old Togruta ally Seydan Toth approached.

"Well, Big Kahuna, I guess this is where we part ways for a while," he noted with a soft smile. "You sure you want me back on Refuge? I still got some fight left in me."

"For now I do, friend," Jasper answered the Jedi Knight. "Someone has to take charge and watch over the refugees from the Core. They're still in distress... who could blame them. Our Senator friend has done what he can to keep their spirits in order, but their defense falls onto us. You've always been my second in command. I feel that is a task you can see to, Seydan."

"Then I'll see it done," the Togruta answered. "Take care of yourself, brother."

And the man was off, back towards the Redwind. Jasper could not help but feel wistful as he watched the old transport take to the skies. How he missed those days when it ferried children to distant worlds, hopes and dreams contained within its shell.

It did not perform that duty any longer.

Jasper sighed, stepping away from the edge of the port to seat himself down on a crate. What allies he was going to have would arrive shortly. He wasn't sure if any would stick for the long haul. He had his hopes, but he knew that he'd have to settle for whoever decided to show up. Then he would do his best to ensure that the galaxy was ready for whatever was to come...

If it wasn't already too little too late.

Hey! This thread is open for Jedi and other folks who may be interested in joining up with my little faction here and going off to fight evil. Yes, open, even though it says faction. That's just so I can keep track of it better. I plan to be in talks with some other folks soon about pvp/skirmish stuff and have a few mission ideas, so if that sounds up your ally you can find the faction here. Yes, it's on request to join right now, that's just so I don't get overwhelmed. Thank you all in advance.

Braze had managed some time to attend the gathering after ensuring his new student had work to keep him occupied in his absence, leaving Leos Leos beneath the watchful 'eye' of Aether of the Iron Order Aether of the Iron Order .

When he spotted Jasper, he padded over over softly pausing beside him. One hand slipped into his cloak before he drew something out and offered it forward in his palm.

"Don't look so sad," he chirped, "There's plenty of time for that later."

It was a spherical object; one small enough to sit comfortably in the palm of his hand, shaped from cut and polished stones set together in a strange, deliberate-construction. Pale crystal like material caught the light around it, faceted into it sat a orange an violet stone offering the suggestion of an iris.

"I heard you all were going off to fight evil."

Eloise's voice could be heard calling out from the edge of the platform, where she stood with her booted feet apart and her hands on her hips. She was probably the last person several of these people expected to show, especially after what happened during the Jedi conclave. But considering that she had spent the majority of that meeting arguing that the Jedi needed to fight more, the premise of the Outcasts had appealed to her. Even if she didn't, uh, get along with everyone involved.

She may or may not have also come because she heard there were cute guys. But that was a secondary draw compared to the promise of getting to fight bad guys.

"Mind if I join?" she asked.

"Don't look so sad," he chirped, "There's plenty of time for that later."

"Ah, I'm not sad," Jasper assured, brushing off his previous disposition and offering a smile "Just wistful is all. Nothin' wrong with that."

When he was offered the strange eye-like object with a stone of some sort, Jasper took a moment to examine it. He delved deep into his memory, recalling all of the strange and unusual gemstones he had seen in his lifetime and ultimately concluded that...

He had no idea what it was.

"It's... certainly neat looking," he mused, rubbing his chin. "It do something? Or is it just for good luck."

"I heard you all were going off to fight evil."

"Mind if I join?" she asked.

"Hm?"

Jasper glanced up and pretty quickly recognized the padawan he had had a brief debate with back on Naboo. Debate? Perhaps not, it really didn't go too much of anywhere. Moment of disagreement probably fit better. Not that he was much bothered by that sort of thing. All views offered value of some kind. He pondered on if allowing her to join was wise, considering she was still a padawan, but by now her age and experience should be enough to handle herself. He finally offered a shrug.

"Sure," he relented. "I suppose if you made the effort to come out this way. As long as Miss Amani Serys Amani Serys knows where you are. You sure had a fire burnin' in that heart of yours back on Naboo. If you're still fired up I'd say there's a good chance you're gonna get to put it to good use here soon."

Because if anything else, Jasper had plans. The time for sitting idle was coming to a close.

The Tenacity wasn't a ship Jonyna used often when she went on personal missions. But the Reaper felt too lonely these days. Too tied up in her own baggage.

And too identifiable now. That was her ship now.

As it landed, she stepped off with a smile.

"I heard we're going to go kick some butt. Where do I sign up?"

To her, that's all she needed to say to Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el as she walked off her ship. To her, that was all that mattered.

Why am I here?

An honest question, really. He had “work” to do. Work that he felt was necessary, work that “Jedi” could not be held accountable to. He questioned his purpose, torn between the strict code of the Jedi and the unorthodox methods he deemed essential. His actions, though shadowed, aimed to serve a greater good, even if they did not look like it, even if they defied the traditional boundaries of the Order's teachings and expectations of a Jedi's role.

Keep in sensor range, best you can, alright?

BRAD was eager in his response as the droid watched Connel jump off of the Null Vector’s loading ramp and onto one of the walkways. The ship flew off into the skies, ever present, not to interfere, but to provide an “exfil” opportunity, should it be needed.

When he came across everyone… from people whom he did not know, to ostentatiously quaffed Padawans who speak the quiet part out loud of their statements, to Echani whom he still wants to punch… Connel simply said…

Someone called.

He was quiet as other's arrived. Curious to hear what targets Jasper had in mind as it seemed they had a good few folks ready to fight. He could certainly think of one place that would work to start targeting sith operations but he wanted to hear what they'd planned.

While Lily was still very much a part of the Jedi Order, she knew that her skills were always going to have her travelling. Finding where the fight was and ensuring that she was at the forefront of those fights. Especially against the Sith. It was what she had trained herself to do and it was what Lily knew she was needed for. Being the Battlemaster and ensuring the Jedi were ready for the fights to come was also something that Lily took very seriously since no one Jedi could take down the Sith.

Her past failures demonstrated that much.

Approaching the growing group, Lily had decided to see where things would go, what would be discussed and where the fight would take place. These were Jedi declaring they wanted to take action, she was keen to see what action would take place and where that would be. Lily didn't think that her Padawan Kito Kito would be interested in another meeting that was focused on talking but she had left the door open for her Padawan to join her in attending this gathering.

Lily made sharp notice of the Jedi currently in attendance and gave them a polite bow. "I heard tale of this gathering and couldn't help but find my interest piqued. Curious to seeing what happens next to you all. Also, please know that I am more than happy to help with any fights that are to come." Lily spoke in her polite normal tone of voice as she gave a smile.

Pushing back against Sith was something she was always going to do and always going to support others in doing.

"It's a prototype... I'm working on the programmable magnet latch to function a specific way so the magnets keep the lid open or closed securely unless acted upon... I have special material to make this out of out side the magnets. "

"Gotcha," Jasper remarked, observing the device with curiosity. "You'll have to update me on that progress... and tell me what it does for that matter."

He was rather keen on learning what the thing was meant to do.

Someone called.

"Ah... Vanagor," the Jedi Master mused. "You seem a... lone wolf kind of fellow, so I didn't know if you'd show."

Jonyna and Lily Decoria were quick to follow, to which Jasper offered them both a nod of recognition.

"There will be fighting to come," he assured, his thoughts holding ideas on things to come. "I'm not looking to glorify any of this or make it pretty either. This is gonna be grimy. The Sith decided Coruscant was their capital. I grew up in that undercity enough to know that it's a maze no empire could ever conquer. They're sitting under a beehive ready to burst, and we're gonna turn what they can't see into a nightmare. And it won't just be Coruscant. Tython, Sacorria, Byss, Teta. We're gonna spread them thin and give them death by a thousand little cuts. Each minor inconvenience to compound a migraine that never goes away. But I wanna set some clear house rules."

Jasper looked out at all parties present. Different people from different walks of life. That was fine, but the priority was getting things done. That was what he wanted to make very clear.

"Grievances stay behind," the Blonde Jedi stated. "Philosophical debates stay off the battlefield. Grudges? Forget them. This isn't an open floor like back on Naboo. Got words to share? Fine, but when you're time on the floor is done that's it. The mission has to come first. Hesitate or waste time on something unnecessary and folks will end up dead. As far as the cost of war goes, this will be a lot more effective if our losses are kept to a minimum. If you all can handle that, I imagine I don't have much else to say to you."

The man pointed his finger up to the sky.

"As we speak there's a thirteen-thousand meter long rock up there getting loaded up with equipment to make this a long-term operation," he continued. "There will be some down-time to slip away, but not much. I expect to get this ball rolling hard and fast. Last shuttle to leave this platform will be the one that takes us up to the Grafted into Stone."

And then they could really get this show on the road.

Eloise didn't get a chance to reply to Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el before he turned his attention away from her, addressing everyone. There were references in his speech which likely pertained to her - specifically the bit about leaving behind grudges and working together. This isn't an open floor like back on Naboo. Eloise smirked. That conclave was anything but an open floor. People didn't get kicked out of open floors for expressing a different opinion, impassioned or not.

But he'd get no trouble from her. After all, she only got mad during the conclave because too many of the Jedi were dawdling and making excuses for why they weren't fighting the Sith. Jasper was giving them the opportunity to go fight the Sith, so of course she was going to take it.

She was nothing if not consistent, as they said.

"Alright," she said, already heading for the transport. "Let's go."

If I am such a “lone wolf”, why call me?

Kai’el’s observation was a fair one, but it really did not help with any of Connel’s current issue, if you want to call it that. Jony… Master Si showing up was a surprise.

Okay.

Any concern over whether this was going to be another flustercuck that the “Conclave on Naboo” was, went out the window with his comments about what he planned on doing. So, this was going to be a Jedi attempt at a clandestine operation? Interesting. Connel couldn't help but feel moderately intrigued by the prospect of a Jedi-led covert mission, despite his skepticism of their methods. The idea of blending their discipline with his own experience in shadow operations could yield unexpected results, though he remained cautious about the potential for complications..

Just us? More coming? Relying on you for supplies? All genuine questions, regardless of the tone.

"You're speaking my language Jasper. I don't know about any of you, but rebellion runs in my blood. I failed to be the perfect jedi that Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble wanted me to be, but damn if I ain't a good rebel."

She draw Liz, flourishing it in her hand, sparks erupting from the blade. "So what's our first target then? Way I see it, we start small. Hit Pelagon, cut off their supply train towards Obulette. Get them to notice us. Then we disappear and hit somewhere else important."

"Alright," she said, already heading for the transport. "Let's go."

Jasper couldn't help but grin to himself as the padawan trotted off towards the shuttle without another word. He was gonna get along with this kid just fine, he reckoned.

Just us? More coming? Relying on you for supplies?

"Supplies are mostly to keep us going long term," Jasper remarked. "There's more, folks I've already gathered up. I'd say we're not any larger than a small military company though. Anything larger than that and we draw attention to ourselves. We should be small, mobile, move around from place to place easily with nothing slowing us down. I imagine we'll only be using a fraction of our full force as well, just so we have people in reserve in case there happens to be an emergency."

Such a thing was possible, of course. He had to be prepared for the possibility of catastrophic failure.

"So what's our first target then? Way I see it, we start small. Hit Pelagon, cut off their supply train towards Obulette. Get them to notice us. Then we disappear and hit somewhere else important."

"I was thinking Tython," he offered, stroking his chin. "I can't help but imagine that a raid somewhere like that could get other groups to notice and come to our aid. Sort of forcing the hand of fate, as it were. There's no doubt dangerous things on Tython that should be removed from the hands of the Sith if we can. Pelagon's not bad though. It's far enough away from Tython to spread the Covenant thin for round two..."

Lots to consider. They were going to have to ensure that they did their best to slip away from all of these unseen. Of course, the Grafted into Stone had some secrets that would help them out in a pinch. With all that said and done, Jasper turned back towards the final shuttle and gestured for the others to follow.

"Let's get you all familiar with the Grafted into Stone," the Master decided.

He'd step onto the shuttle and find his seat.

This was a solid plan. Tython would send the message, though Braze would have preferred the core Capitol. It was more prudent, more tactically sound, to go to Tython instead. They had to make good use of what little Force they had, after all.

He tucked the prototype away as Jasper laid everything out, going quiet himself. Provisions were handled, but it was a good thing to be worried about.

Lily listened to Jasper, shrugging her shoulders as she did, there was nothing said that Lily was aiming to argue with or find indignation over. She was here to assist to the best of her ability and demonstrate that people within the High Republic and within the Jedi Order were determined to help, to fight and show that they were going to push the Sith Covenant and the Sith Order back. It was not mere talk about working towards an era of peace. It was the fact there would be action taken.

"There will be no issues from myself. Just here to offer my support wherever and whenever it is needed." Lily stated. "I won't be joining you on the ship, there are other things that I need to attend to, but you can all contact me when there is going to be attack or if you need to fend off Sith attacking yourselves."

She paused, Lily was the Battlemaster of the The Jedi Order within the High Republic now, that came with a lot of responsibilities. Including the training of others. "I can also offer training and fighting insight to any who are less verse in fighting. While I am sure many of you are capable, I have been learning to fight for a couple decades now. I can offer some lessons that might be untraditional but pivotal in a fight." She gave a smile and bowed her head.

”Small military company?” “Thinking Tython?”

What was the objective? “Hit n Run”? What was the intel? No disrespect intended here, but while the sentimental side in Vanagor wanted badly to go to Tython, this seemed SERIOUSLY too easy. It just brought up more questions.

Moving.

It was not a matter of gear. He had access to a krit-ton of gear, he could probably supply them. It was not a matter of supplies, same difference. He was not dismissing anything as he walked onto the shuttle, he just wanted his questions answered.

No doubt they will be.
