"If what he said is true, it will show us my greatest desire."
Valery had a pretty good idea about what that was. Nothing made her as happy as being with her husband and kids, after all. But how would it manifest itself in the context of her bond to their unborn child? How was it going to help those visions from bleeding into her dreams at night?
Valery reached down to take his hand and looked at him with an appreciative smile. She was just a little bit nervous about this, but having him so close made it a lot easier.
"We do, let's get inside." She walked towards the front door with slow, measured steps. Her hand settled against the door, and slowly pushed it open. The sound of laughing kids and the holo-tv playing could already be heard up ahead.
She guided Kahlil through the hallway, and stopped once she was able to look into the living room. They were all there. Vera, about 16 years old and quite the beautiful young woman. Aris, being surrounded by the the triplets, who were growing fast themselves. Colette, giving some attention to Nibbles. And, of course, Bee to watch over them all.
But there was also a little 3-year-ols, with raven-black hair and green eyes, sitting on the couch with his big sister.
"There you two are. How was the walk?" Vera asked her parents, like they belonged here. In this future. "Eryx is hungry, and we can all use a bite too. Dad did promise pancakes tonight..." She looked at her Dad, and for just a moment, was a mirror of her Mom with the way she smirked.
Eryx, huh?
Valery looked up at Kahlil and smiled. Maybe all she needed, was just realizing that in the end, everything was going to be okay.
