Eyes watched the many screens around her as they displayed local camera footage. Each of them look random especially in the busyness of coruscant population. However to a more keen eye they'd find the needle in the haystack, the needle being a twi'lek. A few weeks ago Dedata had sent out small little challenges over the holonet hiding them amongst many places. The challenges was written in complex code, normal citizens and even fairly skilled slicers would struggle with the challenge. Once the code had been cracked and fixed a download notice would pop up. On the surface it was simple software that displayed co-ordinates and a map, hidden under it what they had downloaded was Deda-net.

With that Dedata had been tracking the first person to have braved accepting the download and even traveled from Taris. "Kilo, Tera come in. Few minuets a twi'lek will arrive at the door looking for something. Your both to look like locals and blend in.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

Both Tera and her brother would read the words as they began to project in front of their eye. Kilo growled as he took out the com from his pocket. "Y sure that's safe boss, given what's happened recently?" Kilo responded to the message with a wary tone.

"Yeah it's fine this is business don't need some chromed up bodyguards scaring them away before having chance to. Things go well, I will call Ivory in.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

"You are aware I don't like this?"
"Look if it makes you feel better, you can both come wait on the ship instead, go up the ladders to the kitchen. If anything is to go wrong dee will open up the door to the hub.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

"Yeah that'd make me feel better."
Tera wafted her arms in gestures at Kilo before hitting the door to walk over to The Shadow Broker. "Tera says her too, anyway we're on our way in, drop the cargo ramp."

NNfr6b8.png
As the two walked towards the Modified IGV-55 Gozanti they both took note of the red sky casted by dusk. There was a whirring sound as the cargo elevator lowered.

Dedata's attention went back fully to the Twi'lek as a file displays. //:mad:Xiann Sivron. Slowly the woman was drawing closer as she began to wonder what this person was like, what their drive was and if they would be tempted by such a lucrative offer.

"Dedata, your guest has arrived at the hanger."
"Let her in dee and drop the cargo lift."

As the blue Twi'lek would find herself to the door her device would bleep displaying a code to input. When she had the panel lit green and the door opened. Upon entering she'd see the lift lower as she entered the private hanger. Once taking the lift up into the ship the space looked lived in with crates tools and workbenches slightly cluttered. Off to the side was two speeders one was incomplete missing parts or had yet to be installed. As for the other space it was not clear to what could be inside as the room was locked up.

"Welcome, I am Dee, Dedata's personal VI. Please make your way up the stairs to the front left of the ship and take the first door on your right. Please leave any weapons outside the door."

Xiann looked up from her datapad at the hanger entrance, “Looks like this is the place Rusty. Not imposing or suspect at all. What do you think? We gunna die in there?” She smirked up at her bodyguard. “While usually I would point out death is no smiling matter, at this point it is probably the only way your pathetic existence can improve.” The Twi’lek’s smirk dropped to a death stare, “Thanks for that, you always know exactly what to- '' She was cut off by a beeping from her pad. Looking down she saw a string of numbers. A code? She glanced back at the door and noticed the keypad, the door code perhaps? “To be continued, Scrapbot. Come on.”

The woman typed in the code, which was accepted with a few beeps and the sound of the locks on the door disengaging. As the door swung open she glanced around the hanger quickly and, seeing no obvious threats, stepped in followed by Rusty. A whistle escaped the engineer's lips as she looked over the ship in front of them, “Not bad. Someone likes their paint, though wouldn’t a darker colour make it more stealthy?” Before she could critique the style anymore the ship's lift hit the floor and drew her attention, “Ah yes, a remote control lift to a mysterious ship in an empty hanger found by a treasure hunt. Isn’t this how most horror stories start?”. “Affirmative. I assume we are taking it?” The young Twi’lek was already walking towards it, “Of course we are.” Rusty quick-marched to keep up with his master.

The pair mounted the lift and waited as it pulled them into the ship. As soon as her head was high enough to see into the ship proper she spotted the speeders. Stepping from side to side she tried to get a better view through the lift mechanisms and the crates around the room. She squinted at the incomplete one, something was off about it but she couldn’t quite identify what. Her eyes darted across the parts trying to spot it until her focus snapped to the side as a voice spoke to them. Once the VI had finished she just stared at it for a moment, “Remember what I said about horror stories… Well, we’ve come this far.”

Following the VI instructions the pair walked up the stairs and stood in front of the right hand door for a moment. “Don’t say it, I know we shouldn’t but I’m curious.” Rusty leaned his blaster rifle against the wall without saying anything, his master following suit with her two pistols but leaving her wrench magnetised to the back of her belt, she wasn’t going to completely disarm. Xiann knocked on the door with some force, “Galactic scout cookies. We have your delivery.”

As the twi'lek thumped on the door it would slide open before her with a woman standing roughly the same height. She was wearing her signature outfit the screens behind her illuminated the space with dim warm lights along the sides. Dedata stood in the doorway for a moment as the Info Broker typed on a datapad. "Welcome. I've been expecting you. First up, I will need you to power down your droid and leave it outside this room. I cannot risk security breaches hope you understand.
4TsQGPK.gif
"
The woman flipped the Datapad around letting the Twi'lek read the message.

She waited for the Twi'lek deactivate the droid before stepping aside and gesturing to enter. Dedata walked over to the couches that was set up in a circle as screens surrounded them. In the middle of all of it was a large holo table. The details of what was on the screens appear blurred.

"Before we get into things, congrats on being the first to complete my little challenge and going as far to complete it all the way through Xiann Sivron..." As the woman typed each word was being displayed vai the projector. "... I am Dedata, an Info Broker and Slicer also someone who may have a lucrative deal for you depending how this pans out.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

The woman sat back in her spot getting relaxed and pulled a blanket over her legs. "I'm sure you have questions and I am rather curious to what you may ask. Once you have asked a few to brace the ice I will ask some of my own, and do help yourself to anything from the mini bar

Xiann smiled as the door opened but flinched slightly when she was met with a faceless helmet. She didn’t know what she was expecting but this leather clad, cat eared golem was not it. She recovered her poise as a datapad was shown to her and she read the message. She let out a sigh, “Fine, I guess.” The Twi’lek reached into the wiring of the droid's torso and after a moment of fidgeting pulled her hand back out with a datadisk. “Rusty, grab the blasters and enter standby. And before you complain, don’t. It’ll be fine. Probably.” The droid picked up the blasters, stood next the door facing away and began to go into standby, “Why even bring me?”

The engineer turned back to the stranger, “I’m going to pay for that later…”. The woman stepped into the strangers room when invited and immediately fell in love. “Wow~” She practically skipped around the room looking at everything for a few moments before the text on the screens brought her back to the matter at hand, “Oh. Ahem. Sorry, I’ve never seen such a nice rig, the things I could do with something even a tenth of this size.”

She pulled herself together properly, “A terrifying pleasure to meet you Dedata. Yes I do have some questions. Though most have turned to this deal of yours. Like what it is you want me to do. Just looking at this room proves you are far better equipped to slice than me and the little OS you installed that I can’t get rid of shows you are far better skilled too. I’m a pretty good slicer, sure, but you clearly have me beat. I’m an excellent mechanic though, but I’m guessing you already knew that.” She let out a chuckle.

Xiann turned and looked at the minibar, “Hmmm, maybe when we have at least a few details ironed out.” She took a seat opposite Dedata, “So how about this for an icebreaker, you are clearly not entirely above board and neither am I, so as is customary for this kind of meeting where I am from I have brought a good faith gesture.” She waved the datadisk before slotting into her own datapad, “You can access it through your OS right? It has various info about some of the lieutenants and bosses on Taris, including a few skeletons they would like to keep in their closets.” She placed the pad to her side, “So, about this deal of yours.”

From first impressions Dedata saw the woman as energetic, perhaps stubborn but rather open. Clearly cleaver given she had beat the challenge. This made her smile profusely one that would not be seen. "Custom build, but what you see only scratches the surface. This rig pulls in more information than I alone can sieve through. Dee was made to help me find the stuff that is important to deal with straight away to work out a price to sell it off or keep for later use. Rarely, I nuke information if it contains details that I nor a friend of mine need to never be uncovered.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

She continued to listen to the Twi'lek as the woman looked around the room impressed by what the room contained. Though it did not take long for the woman to take a seat and even waved a data disc and slotted it into her own Datapad. Dedata chuckled as her fingers could now get to work again. "Yes, I can access it easily and you are right I am a first rate slicer but don't sell yourself short either. You have the makings of a great slicer.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

"That challenge believe it or not was to find those with real talent. There are many slicers out there, it's a trade past one to the next and secrets shared, leaked and known about. The pool of those with talent grows smaller where those with cheap tools thrive. The fact you are here means and even did the diligence to bring information that could could be useful, proves you are the right person to make this offer to.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

Dedata leaned forwards a little and tilted her head as she typed a little more knowing this was a bit to read so far. "If I was to say, I had a place for you in which you'd find fortune, freedom, luxury, assets and the chance to grow under my tutelage and others, at the expense of a little being on the wrong side of the "Law", what would you say?
4TsQGPK.gif
"
She looked at the Twi'lek intensely wondering what the answer she'd give. After all she had skills that was practically made for her branch, a very needed cog in the machine that was the embrace of the family.

Xiann smiled towards Dedata as she read the text flashing by. The woman was definitely buttering her up with these compliments. She knew her own skill level and while she often undersold herself somewhat, this level of praise was going way overboard. The other shoe had to be nearby, just waiting to drop. But where? It would have to be in the details of the deal itself, right?

Then the non-hypothetical came, the ‘if’ that wasn’t really an ‘if’. The Twi’lek smile faded slightly and her eyes narrowed as her brain focused on every single word, trying to find the catch. Still too vague to find it right now. “So basically, you offer me everything I could possibly want and the cost to my life is no different than I’m already paying? If, and that is a big if, you were to say that I would probably say something along the lines of ‘Pull the other one.’” The offer as it stood was still too vague, her counterpart was not giving out any more information than was absolutely necessary. While understandable, more details would be needed if she were to find the true catch to this deal.

Xiann leaned back in her seat, detaching her wrench and putting it next to her so she didn’t lean on it, “Or perhaps I may say ‘Sounds too good to be true so it probably is. But kark it, I have nothing valuable to lose anyway.’ It would depend on what the true entrance exam is. Assuming the breadcrumbs were just the opening gambit of course.”

The girl was certainly smart and cautious too. An admired trait for many lack caution to understand the difference between a risk and a calculated risk. "Pretty much is an offer for everything you want provided you work for it show loyalty and commit. I've a feeling of which I could be wrong but you are probably thinking no one is this lucky. You are right, this isn't luck. Simply you found something at the right time and went for it. You did not know what you'd expect when reaching the end.
4TsQGPK.gif
"
Dedata stood taking the datapad with her as she strolled over to the mini bar picking up a small metal tin. Pressing the latch it clicked at the top flipped open.

She slid out a Fiora ebony cigarette and then poured two FIORA 'MOGANO' BOURBON with an ice ball in one. She used the back of the datapad as a try to carry it all back over. She'd place the drink down giving the Twi'lek the one with the ice in then sat down in her spot again. Her hand reached up to the red pannel at the front of the helmet and pulled it forward to reveal a build in straw dropping down. Dedata pushed the end of the cigarette in then lit it. A pungent floral aroma began to fill the room as the woman inhaled and exhaled with smoke falling out the bottom of the helmet.

"So could say the breadcrumbs were the interview of skills, I need slicers, engineers, pilots, drivers and those who are skilled to access anywhere physically. You are a slicer and top that have mechanic skills even driving skills...
4TsQGPK.gif
"
She took a pause to lift the ashtray up to the chin of her helmet tapping it lightly against the cigarette to take care of the ash before continuing to type. "...Meaning you are perfect for a job I have in the works. You've shown me already you have skills, but I need to see performances. Success or failure, will not determine anything the actions you take will. Though success will add extra points.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

Dedata quickly finished the cigarette stubbing it out in the ashtray. "Its a relatively easy job with some risk, You'd be joining an associate of mine and a trusted friend. In a week's time Three rare one of a kind speeders will be in a position within reach along with a transport with valuable assets I require. Now the transport is something I'll have handled with a separate team. The pay for this is

15,000. Damages to the speeder you drive will come out of the pay.

Xiann smiled as her host went to the bar and poured some drinks for them before returning to her seat. The Twi’lek tilted her head slightly as Dedata reached for her helmet, was she finally going to see the face of her examiner? She couldn’t help but let out a little chuckle as the straw popped out of the helmet. Of course. What else would it be?

The woman slowly sipped at her drink as her new employer spoke of the next step, “A simple speeder heist? I’m sure I can pull that off.” She looked into her drink for a moment, “So, am I going in to slice alarms? Disassemble the locks? Or just feign a few positioning signals?” She slowed down for a few seconds so she didn’t overwhelm her host, “Anyway, twock some spangly speeders and…” She squinted at Dedata, “Probably off network and unique information for your collection, then drop them off in some lovely warehouse slash ship for you to do whatever with and finally get paid. Minus insurance and a downpayment. That about sum up what you’re putting down?” She took another sip from her drink then beamed a smile at her now boss, “Sounds like fun.”

Dedata smiled under the helmet. Xiann made it sound like a simple job but there was layers to it and it was not Dedata that would be running the operation. "Something like that though not to be underestimated. Your datapad will have some accessible quick slices on it for the job after which you may keep or be removed upon the outcome. As for what exactly you will be doing, that is not in my hands but an associate of mine. Other than that, it sums it all up.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

The woman turns her head over to a screen as something caught her attention. Her hand swiped to a different software on the datapad taking note of the file name. Her visor turned back up. "Tell me, Xiann what do you want moving forward. What do you wanna be doing with your life?
4TsQGPK.gif
"
She asked wondering the answer if it would be something short or deep. People could surprise easily with words.

Xiann rolled the ice around her glass, holding her smile as Dedata tapped away on her pad before turning back and asking a rather unexpected question. The Twi’lek’s smile faded as she let out a sigh and seemed to deflate and sink into the seat. She had often thought ahead but only ever short term. Have a roof over her head, food to eat and ammo for protection. She had slowly been climbing her way through the criminals at home but hadn’t made much headway.

She placed the glass on her knee and stared at it, “To live.” Another sigh escaped her lips before she raised her gaze to look into Dedata’s helmet, “It’s always taken everything I have just to survive. If I’m not taking crappy jobs to buy food, I’m fending off local ruffians. I want to be able to go about my day comfortably, to be able to walk around without looking over my shoulder every step. I want colleagues that respect me.” A smile crossed her lips and she chuckled lightly as an image flashed through her head, “I want my own workshop where I can work on custom and interesting builds. Sometimes just for fun.” She downed the last of her drink and the smile from earlier returned to her face, “Sorry, I got a bit carried away there.”

The body language of the Twi'lek made it seem as thought was being put into the answer. From the one she gave it was clear the woman lived in not ideal conditions. She lifted her hand up though it was not till the words showed up did the gesture make sense. "No, no it's fine. Good to have aspirations, a goal to strive for. Keeps us motivated and breaking out limits to get what we want.
4TsQGPK.gif
"
Her head tilted while exchanging the straw with a fresh clean one. Finally she took a few sips from the drink before placing it back down with a tap. "Despite what you see in here. I worked hard for it all. Didn't happen till people that would become like family to me changed my perspective.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

There was a stern knock on the door. The camera feed showed the woman who it was on her HUD. A few taps of her datapad and the door hissed open revealing a man in a well fitted suit. "Brick, come have a seat and meet my new friend here Xiann.
4TsQGPK.gif
"

A middle-aged human male stepped through the now-open door, striding into the room as-if he owned it. A sour look rested on his weathered face, and his dark eyebrows were hunched - giving off the impression that he was deeply focused. The hair on both sides of his head was a bright silver, while the rest was a deep, earthy brown. Otherwise, his face was clean-shaven. The suit he wore was sleek & perfectly tailored; colored such a deep, midnight blue that it appeared black. On his feet, he wore a pair of glossy black shoes, and adorning the fingers of both hands were a number of rings. Whomever this newcomer was, he carried himself with an air of poise & seasoned professionalism.

"Brick", as Dedata | Celty Ree Dedata | Celty Ree had introduced him, kept his hands toward the center of his chest in a peculiarly relaxed manner, approaching the two women seated at the large table. Without saying anything, he walked around to DeData's side & took a seat beside her, resting his elbows on the table & leaning forward. For a moment, he studied the blue-skinned Twi'lek with a steady, emotionless gaze... evaluating her in a judging manner before finally speaking. When he did so, it was with a strong Coruscanti accent; difficult to place, but surely not from the "surface":

"I guess you actually got one, huh?"

Then, he smirked, quirking his head to the side as he looked at Xiann Sivron Xiann Sivron again. He seemed to fill the entire room with his presence; larger than life, and emitting an air of subtle danger.

"'Ey, how you doin'? I guess the boss here figures you're worth puttin' to work."

He reached out, offering a handshake. If Xiann accepted it, she'd find he possessed an iron grip. On the pinkie finger of his left hand, he wore a gold ring with a strange emblem laser-etched into a black stone...

That of a white tree with many branches & roots, stretching out in all directions.

"You can call me Brick. It's a pleasure."

Xiann’s smile faltered for a moment when family was mentioned. Not a topic she favoured to say the least. “Don’t misunderstand. I’m not saying I want it all given to me. I want to work for it, earn it. I just want to actually have something to show for all my work.” She shrugged lightly, “Kinda frustrating when all my work only benefits others and never me.”

A knock caused her to turn and stare at the door, her free hand wrapping around the base of the wrench next to her. Before she could ask if they were expecting company, Dedata was already tapping away and the door opened. As the man stepped forward and introductions were made the Twi’lek released her grip on the wrench to grasp Vincenzo Valentine Vincenzo Valentine 's hand and put on her most charming smile, “Charmed. I’m Webweaver. It seems the Boss thinks I’m worth a competency test at least.” She glanced back over to Dedata | Celty Ree Dedata | Celty Ree , “Safe to say Brick here is my examiner?” Xiann’s smile twisted slightly, becoming more wry and very close to a smirk. She kept her words vague as she wasn’t sure if Brick was supposed to be privy to the job their host was previously discussing. Many ‘Bosses’ liked to keep only those involved informed about each job and this new one hadn’t done anything to show she was any different to her previous employers.

The handshake was returned, and the newcomer dropped his hands, resting them on the table as he looked between his two companions. A subtle smirk rested on his face, but his eyes remained narrowed - reserved, focused, and direct. 'Webweaver', huh? At least she had the good sense to use a street-name instead of her real one. That was worth a bit of respect, in & of itself.

“Safe to say Brick here is my examiner?”

"You could say that." He replied. He pointed at himself with a thumb, "It's my job to make sure things go off without a hitch. I'm the one who knows where we're droppin' the rides, and I'm also the guy who's gonna make sure it gets done if you can't." He then pointed at Xiann Sivron Xiann Sivron . "That's only if you can't keep up your end... but I hope you can."

'For your own sake' went unspoken.

He relaxed, leaning back slightly. Casually, he adjusted the cuffs of his suit then shrugged slightly. "Because there's three of 'em, it ain't gonna be just us. It just-so-happens, you're not the only one being evaluated. Fact is, I know the third one can drive, so no issues there - but I'm real curious what else you can do besides solving riddles." Brick gave the Twi'lek a hard look. It was clear he wasn't a techie-type... From his body language, the way he carried himself, it was far more likely he was a 'street-guy'; someone with years under his belt & experience to match.

"Ever shot a blaster before, kid? And I don't mean poppin' targets out back behind your daddy's shack."

Xiann turned back to the new fellow, “Oh, I always hold up my end of a deal. If I don’t think I can do it, I won’t accept in the first place. So while my rep doesn’t say I’ll take any job, it does day I will complete any job I take.” She smiled rather smugly at the man, “And yes, I can drive. I’m not the greatest in the galaxy, but I’m sure I can do well enough that you probably won’t have a heart attack.”

The Twi’lek leaned back in her seat and crossed her legs, “As for my other talents…” She arched her back puffing her chest forward and threw a wicked smile at the old man, “Well, I don’t think some of them will be useful on this job so you’ll have to find out about them another time.” She winked as she relaxed back into the seat again and grabbed her wrench, “Otherwise, I’m a karking good mechanic and engineer, decent slicer and pilot. Not horrendous in a fist fight but as you can see I’m not exactly built for that.” She gestured to herself before shrugging. “As for blasters…” She gestured to the pair of holsters, “I use a pair of pistols. They’ve pulled me out of some tough situations.” Her smile softened, even became a little ‘brighter’. “But suffice to say, if the druk hits the fan I can hold my own, maybe even cover yours. Only if needed of course.” Her wry smile returned.

As the words "But I'm sure I can do well enough" left the twi'leks mouth one of the screens in the room displayed a highlight reel of a swoop track on Taris. She waited for the woman to stop speaking before sending the words out to be read. "I think you will do well enough for what is planned. I am aware of your skills but those you are working with and even brick here does not know all you can. Only thing I have not seen is if you can be a team player.

"
She turned her head to brick for a moment there was much to discuss now there was one more for the job.

Without the gentlemen and his street level intel and insider routes the mission was certainly not one she would put a newbie on. To many risks to add more. It was thanks to brick that made the mission less complicated for the getaway. That is what the driver mechanics are for, get away, transport, logistics as well as coming up with vehicles to give an edge. "You may be relying on those blasters, though if you wish something bigger we can loan you a weapon. We'll need you to stick around for a few weeks while details are finalized. You may use one of the bunks on the first floor of this ship for a day or two while we get you sort you out some accommodations in Uscru. If you are in need of extra credits during that time, you may head to a place called Artistic Expressions also found in the Uscru district. Xiann nodded slightly, “I prefer my pistols, means I can have a hand free to do my actual job. I’m not usually purely a gun-for-hire.” She picked up her datapad and removed the datachip from it before placing the pad in its wristmounted slot. “Besides…” The woman leaned forward to stand up, grabbing her wrench on the way and attaching it to the clamp on her belt, “We both know bigger isn’t always better.” She let her grin slide into view again for a few moments before her professional one reclaimed its place.

The Twi’lek rolled her shoulders and stretched a little, “Well, it seems our introductions were successful and I look forward to our future working together.” Xiann turned slowly walked towards the exit, “I think I’ll take you up on the offer to bunk for a few nights but a bit of exploration is needed first.” As she reached the door and it slid open she turned to the pair remaining in the room and blew a kiss to Brick, “Pleasure meeting you by the way. Now don’t forget to have fun while I’m away, I certainly won’t.” Offering a wink and final smile she disappeared into the corridor and woke up Rusty, “Come on you. We’ve got a city to plunder.”
