SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Highly Energized Smart Slugs
    • Creates electrical 'No-Fly' Zones with enough rounds - capable of destroying or disabling passing star fighters, missiles, turbolaser rounds, and more.
    • Creates larger grids with more guns firing.
    • Increases grid density with rounds per minute and turret density.
    • Dissipates within a few seconds of the gun ceasing fire.
  • Single Disruption Rounds
    • Capable of disrupting and possible destroying if not weakening turbolaser and blaster rounds.
    • Ineffective against anything laser, photon, or slug based.
  • Armor Piercing Capacity
    • Capable of breaching Diamond-Boron missiles and otherwise reinforced star fighters.
  • Advanced AI Generated Trajectory Matrixes
    • B-10 'Tensai' Droid Brain
    • Automated Gun Networking
      • Allows for highly optimized firing patterns at all times - capable of 'trapping' pilots between firing arcs or grids.
    • Manual Override w/ Firing Crew incase of hacking or network instability.
  • C-6 'Maglev' Repulsor Mount
    • Allows Extremely fast target acquisition and tracking.
  • Internal Ammunition Recycler
    • 85% Efficiency
    • Allows for round recovery on long term deployments - but ineffective in single engagements.
  • Highly Optimized Cooling Matrix
    • Dallorian Alloy Barrel w/ Tibanna Gas Cooling Rods
    • Allows Continuous Fire up to 16k rpm.
STRENGTHS
  • No Fly Zone -
    • Unlike most point defense systems, the 'Iron Curtain' is capable of doubling as a electrical disturbance generator that can nullify star fighters from getting close to their respective ship. This grid can at worst disable enemy fighters, and at best completely destroy them - but more than that, it makes the firing accuracy of the turrets (which is already extremely high) almost redundant - since any missed shots become nodes in the grid, increasing effectiveness many times over.
  • Heavy Hitter -
    • For a point defense cannon, it carries heavy rounds - this allows it to breach reinforced missiles, starfighters, and more. Most forms of armor will not be sustained with the pure kinetic force of the rounds, let alone the sheer amount of them coming at any given moment. This also adds to the fact that it can target something no other point defense available can - turbolasers. By using their electrical charge, they can disrupt the cohesion of the ultra charged plasma and destroy incoming turbolaser munitions.
WEAKNESSES
  • Skynet -
    • Being fully automated, the majority of the weapons advantages come from it being controlled by AI. Should the AI be disrupted, any of its fire linking status or optimized firing arcs will be reduced to the effective skill of a standby firing crew; which can vary greatly as compared to the central firing nerous infrastructure the ship should rely on.
  • Out of the Basket -
    • While the Maglev mounting system allows for it to have a nigh unparalleled speed and consistency with tracking oppositional targets; should a hit land on an 'Iron Curtain' while it is extended, it can instantly disable the turret emplacement with no questions asked. This can at best force a reset and re-zero'ing of the turret, and at worst completely disable it for the rest of the fight.
DESCRIPTION

After studying modern fleet doctrine, there has been a return to the Rebel Alliance's starfighter tactics - and with it, proton torpedos, shadow bombs, missiles, and more. This new realm of slow moving projectiles and long range fighters has altered the way point defense must be done - and so retiring old version of Jaeger's PD systems in favour of something new - the 'Iron Curtain' was developed.
While the old Jaeger PD system relied heavily on black hole generators to destroy incoming projectiles, the cutting edge tech had its drawbacks. For one, the firing rate was extremely slow as compared to what they needed to be - and the range was abysmal. While the 'strongest' PD on the market - its effectiveness was lacking in more than a few areas. Exchanging some of that raw strength for something more flexible was paramount - and so the development of the 'Iron Curtain' became the foremost project in Jaeger's dossier.
The system is highly flexible - carrying AI shooting algorythms, machine learning constantly running simulations to outpace any mortal fighter, and further fire link programs to make it able to entrap entire squadrons; it is effectively the most advance point defense system on the market to date. These features alone would be enough to make the 'Iron Curtain' a powerful arsenal in any militaries arsenals; but Jaeger is not known for stopping at 'the best' - they like to secure their investments as the totality of whatever they're making.
For the 'Iron Curtain', the idea was created to mix anti-starfighter nets with the use of their rounds. Highly energized, the rounds are capable of charging off one another as they're fired - and effectively ruin or destroy ships passing between them even with a miss. This mixes old flak systems with more modernized solutions; but it serves another purpose. The highly energized rounds are also capable of disrupting the cohesion of plasma rounds - turbolasers are the most notable example of this. By energizing the particles before they hit the ship, the 'Iron Curtain' can effectively reduce the harmful impacts of the shots, if not outright destroy them before they arrive.
These together have helped cement the 'Iron Curtain' as the premiere form of point defense in the galaxy; and double so to put Jaeger on the throne of ingenuity.
