STRENGTHS
  • Floating Gun -
    • As compared to other mounting systems which rely on gears, chains, or rails - the C-6 seeks to modernize turret mounting brackets by utilizing repulsorlifts in their construction. Instead of direct or grease buffered contact rails, the C-6 allows for a turret to 'float' using a miniaturized gravity well alongside the frictionless lifts. This allows for not only unparalleled speed and range of motion in target acquisition, but minimal maintenance requirements for long term operations.
WEAKNESSES
  • Bygone's -
    • When at the maximum height allowed by the lifts, the guns mounting becomes relatively unsecure. A direct shot with any round of mass can upset the balance of the mount and eject the weapon from the mounting basket. At best, this can force the weapon to recalibrate, readjust and fire after a reset and zero'ing of the machine - but at worst it can see highly expensive turrets completely ejected from their mounting bracket and dangling from whatever other connectors they may have.
DESCRIPTION

With the rising profits of the Hyperspace War on the western edge of the Galaxy, Jaeger has taken to updating his entire turret arsenal with updating mounting brackets that will not only increase efficiency of their entire catalogue, but further press Jaeger as the primo arms company across the galaxy. The Maglev was the answer - adding to the targeting sensors and various other auxiliary components already being sold to increase combat effectiveness for ships across every militant sector in the galaxy.
Working off the premise of 'zero friction', the Maglev achieves this plainly and simply - by remove any touching components. While other mounting brackets operate off very simple rails, grease, or at best low friction poly materials - the Maglev transcends they usual boundaries by entirely removing everything that would slow down target acquisition. Doubly so, with optimized swing arm mounts and and full spectrum 3D targeting arcs - any turret attached to the C-6 will find itself having a massive jump in effectiveness.
Doubly so, the C-6 allows two alternative firing modes - one being a lock down where it settles a weapon lower into the armored basket it generally fires within, making weapons significantly harder to damage at the cost of speed. Secondly, it can raise a weapon out of its basket to increase its downward angle - especially effective for weapons closer to a ships edges, or on round hulls. The danger of this second mode however is that it will expose repulsor systems beneath the weapon - and also create the chance that a direct heavy shot to the turret, dependent on mass, can cause it to fly out of the socket.
