SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Super-heated Mag-pellet Projectiles: When the trigger is pulled, the ferrous-magnetic pellet-known as a Mag-pellet, is chambered from the magazine. It is then magnetically propelled down the barrel by three sets of magnetically charged coils. As the pellet passes through each set of coils, it gains speed at an exponential rate. While it travels, the coils alternate their current rapidly causing the pellet temperature to rise until it is a superheated ball of plasma upon exiting the end of the barrel. The magnetic charge of the superheated particles serves to keep the plasma together until it impacts against it's target.
  • Different Sized Barrels: The OS-140 can be used with three different sized barrels. The smallest, a 12inch barrel, allows the OS-140 to be used as a carbine. The medium, a 20 inch barrel, upgrades the weapon to a rifle and the largest, a 35inch barrel, gives the weapon the range of a sniper rifle. Because the larger sized barrels allow for more sets of coils, projectiles launched from them move faster and hit harder. That being said, the addition of each progressively larger barrel increases both the size and weight of the weapon.
  • Rate of Fire Selector: Unlike its predecessor, the OS-127 Pulse Rifle, upgrades in the efficiency of the coil technology allow the OS-140 to fire a three-round burst in addition to its standard semi-automatic setting.
STRENGTHS
  • High Stopping Power: The exponentially increased rate of speed at which the superheated Mag-pellet leaves the barrel of this weapon provides a very powerful impact for a weapon of its size. This effect is increased by the addition of a larger barrel.
  • Low Recoil: The heavy weight of the projectiles being fired serves to steady the weapon, giving it a low recoil for a weapon with such a high stopping power.
  • Rugged: All of the components have been built to be extremely durable. Because this weapon does not require oxygen to fire, it can be fired in a vacuum, while underwater or in many differing types of atmospheres.
  • Insulated: The internal circuitry in this weapon has been insulted using an Inert Power Insulator material. This projects the weapons electrical components from surges of electro-magnetic energy like those associated with ION weapons and makes the weapon highly resistant to any attempt to disrupt its operation via energy dampening fields and the like.
WEAKNESSES
  • Very Heavy: When compared to weapons of similar size, this weapon is far heavier, often out-weighing similar weapons by 5 to 10 pounds. This is a result of the powerfully dense materials that are used in the construction of the Mag-pellets and the magnetic coils as well as the additional Beskar alloy plating around the inside of the barrel, which is used to protect the weapon from the super-heated plasma it propels. This makes the weapon feel strange and unbalanced to those who are untrained in its use.
  • Additional Power Cell: In addition to the Mag-pellet magazine, this weapon also requires an additional power cell in order to produce enough power to begin the coil firing process. While these power cells do not have to be changed as regularly as the mag-pellet magazines, they do have to be changed. This can cause additional delays in reload times.
  • No Automatic Fire: Because of the slight lag time required when the Mag-pellet is being cycled through the coils the rate of fire is generally slower than other types of rifles. While advances in the technology now allow for a three-round burst mode of fire, true automatic fire remains unattainable for the time being.
DESCRIPTION

Based on the OS-127 10mm Pulse Rifle, the "Proteus" variant also fires a super-heated, super-heavy, magnetically charged pellet through a series of coils. The weapon can match the stopping power of most heavy blaster rifles while still creating a dense enough projectile that makes deflection via lightsaber difficult to impossible. The weapon boasts a very high stopping power and low recoil, but at the expense of being rather heavy and unbalanced and a lower rate of fire. The ability to switch out barrels of differing lengths allows the operator to increase the range and stopping power of the weapon, at the added expense of increased size and weight.

Few issues,

Link is broken, please fix.

  • Rate of Fire: Average (Semi-Automatic), High (Three-round burst)
I need this more clarified for each weapon configuration. Right now when I run the numbers, each one fails the balance check save for carbine.

  • Expensive: The state-of-the-art technology used to construct this weapon makes it prohibitively expensive. As a result, it can only be used in mid-sized to small units. Larger forces are very likely going to be unable to field this weapon for the time being.
This is not a weakness, please remove.

Let me know when you fix the issues.

Okay, so I went through it. According to my math, it was the sniper rifle that passed lol. Regardless, I lowered the damage output of the carbine from High to Average and increased the Weight of the Rifle from heavy to very heavy. I made a table below to show my math, I think it all balances. I also updated the affiliation link and removed that weakness.

Please let me know if I missed anything:
