Siv nodded towards the Forgemaster. "Urcye mhi." It was a simple promise, but Siv was a man of his word.

Siv was a man of his word.

A couple of days later, fresh from the bacta tank -- he was needing it less and less, now -- Siv found himself within the halls of the Bureenaar'gaam once more. Apparently, the reformed pirate Kjartan Hammer-Hand Kjartan Hammer-Hand had been named the leader of the fleet. Siv had reservations about handing over the reins to a reformed criminal, but it wasn't his place to opine on those things. The Star Destroyer had become the center of activity for the Mythos Fleet, its interior just as busy as, if not more so, than the feast in which Siv had run into the metalsmith from Seswenna.

It was that Metalsmith that brought him back. Siv had promised that he would see the vod again, and Siv was a man of his word.

Compared to most days, today was a rather quiet one for Gel.

Usually, Gel was inundated with requests from his Mandalorian brothers and sisters: requests to repair their Beskar'gam, requests to forge them new weapons and equipment, even requests to train them in melee combat, given Gel's reputation as a competent fighter. His day would generally be spent with him working in his forge, trying to fulfill as many of these requests as he could, before the next inevitable wave of requests came his way.

Today, however, Gel had no such requests, and for the first time in a long time, he found that he had a moment of time to himself. Not wanting to waste it, Gel had decided to use the opportunity to do some maintenance of his own on his own armor, especially his Mandalorian Recon Helmet. It had been dented by SL-0182 SL-0182 the last time Gel had fought them, though the helmet had very much done its job and saved his life from their silenced blaster bolts. Still, now that he was safe aboard the Bureenaar'gaam, it would be irresponsible of him not to repair the helmet since he now had a chance to do so. Gel started by hammering away at the dent as he attempted to shape the metal back into it's original position, careful not to strike with too much or too little force.

In truth, he didn't really mind being busy, since it helped to keep his mind off things, namely his time spent enslaved to the Sith and the though of many of his creations being used by his most hated enemies. Gel wondered if he could ever truly forgive himself like everyone else already had. His brothers and sisters had borne him no ill will for his past, and had embraced him with open arms. If they could do it, why couldn't he? Why couldn't he take the step and forgive himself like they had? What the hell was wrong with him?

As Gel continued to work, he hoped someone might come in an interrupt him. At least then he wouldn't be all alone with nothing but his thoughts to keep him company...

The ship was a maze, but there was some sort of order to the chaos so distinctly Mandalorian that Siv found himself navigating the crowded halls, switchback corridors, and multiple levels with ease. The sound of hammers toiling away at their anvils told him that he was nearing the bowels of the ship where the metalsmiths worked their craft. He stopped one passing by to ask for directions, and straight away headed towards where the vod indicated to him.

Siv entered the forge without prelude. He recognized the armor of the man hunched over his anvil from the feast commemorating Humbarine. "Smith Karn," he addressed the smith, Siv's own voice like gravel, "N'eparavu takisit. I meant to come sooner." He posted himself at the entrance to the forge room, waiting to be admitted; a self-conscious show of respect from the veteran Bounty Hunter towards the smith.

It had taken Gel a bit of time, but he had finally managed to make progress on repairing his damaged helmet. Granted, it wasn't quite up to his standards yet, but it was getting there. Gel had managed to hammer out most of the dent that SL-0182 SL-0182 had caused when she had shot him, though he still had more than a bit of work to do. The helmet was still filthy, the grime and grease of Abregado-Rae ever present across it's surface, and would require a thorough cleaning before Gel could even think about donning it again. Then, the helmet would need a good polishing, and the electronics embedded within it would need to be recalibrated and potentially replaced depending on what damage they had suffered when the helmet had been struck. Perhaps Gel would be better off just forging a new one? No, he liked a challenge, especially if it could help him keep his mind of things.

His musings were interrupted by the arrival of a rather important Mandalorian: no one less than Siv Dragr Siv Dragr himself, come to visit Gel personally in his forge.

"Smith Karn. N'eparavu takisit. I meant to come sooner." , Siv stated, patiently waiting for Gel's reply. Gel immediately stopped what he was doing, placing his helmet back on his workbench before he turned to Siv. He gave Siv a quick bow before he admitted him into his forge.

"No apologies needed, my lord. You are always welcome within my humble forge. It gladdens me to see you in better spirts than when we last spoke. I hope your recovery continues to go well. Now, my lord, have you come for what we had previously discussed? Or is there something else I can assist you with?", Gel inquired, his full attention now focused on Siv. All around him, the forge remained quiet, as if it were intently waiting for whatever it was that Siv was going to say next.

"I'm no lord," Siv muttered as he accepted the smith's invitation to enter. He stepped into the forge, instantly met by the heat of the furnaces that raised the room's temperature significantly higher than even the hallway just outside. His boots echoed against the hard metal floor as he walked around, taking a moment to inspect the forge.

Siv could tell that the smith was meticulous in his craft; it showed from how Karn organized the forge to the helmet that sat on a craftsman's table. "Where'd you learn your trade?" He questioned as he picked up the helmet, turning it at all angles to study the worksmanship. It was obviously well-constructed, and though it bore the carbon-scoring of battle, he could see that its structure was sound. The mark of a good piece of armor wasn't how pretty it was, but whether it held up under stress.

"Where'd you learn your trade?"

It was a simple question with a not so simple answer. For a few moments, Gel remained silent, thinking about the best way to answer Siv's question.

"My trade, you ask? Well, for me to speak of that is for me to speak of my life story. Allow me to start at the very beginning."

Gel began with how he had been raised by the Death's Hand, a group of Sith aligned Mandalorians who had taught Gel how to forge weapons and armors at a young age. It had been a task Gel had a natural talent for but a disdain of doing, due to the fact that all of his creations were used in his view for evil, being sent to Sith and Mandalorians alike opposed to everything that was held good in the galaxy. Of course, being such a youngling, Gel didn't really have a choice in the matter, and for the first fifteen years of his life, Gel worked for the Death's Hand, doing whatever it was that they told him to do.

Yet, the collapse of the group gave what Gel thought to be an opportunity, and he had begged his family to leave their lives behind and forsake the Sith once and for all. Unfortunately for him, his family disagreed, resulting in them selling him into slavery to the Sith. For the next fifteen years of his life, Gel would labor in the forges of the Sith Lord Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex , continuing to hone his craft and attempting to escape numerous times, though each attempt was unsuccessful...until Siv Dragr Siv Dragr and his Mandalorians came and rescued Gel from his fate.

It was not a story he liked to tell, and truth be told he was still very much ashamed of what he had done and of all the weapons and armors he had made for his most hated enemies. But Siv had asked him, and Gel was prepared to tell him everything, to lay all his cards out on the table and to be honest about his past and his upbringing.

"And thus ends my tale, at least until the present. You are aware of the rest, Lord Dragr", Gel concluded as he awaited for Siv's next response to everything that he had told him.

Siv carried a haughty demeanor, yet he listened earnestly to the tale the smith wove. When he'd been rescued from the pits of Seswenna, Siv hadn't thought much of it; another Mandalorian rescued from Sith bondage. That story had been played out over decades at this point.

The veteran didn't judge Gel for his past, only what he'd done about it. "And now you're here, fighting the Sith," Siv grunted. He set the helmet back down on the table between them. "Don't matter they made you a slave. The Sith killed my family, and yours. We'll make them pay for it."
