CORELLIA

The last time Rik Perris had set foot on Corellia before its admission into the High Republic, much less in either of its Jedi centres in the capital or the mountains, the Alliance had been whole, but he was still un-settled, then. That was the lot of a Jedi carrying convictions that not every one of his ilk had, raised as he was, trained as he was, taken far from the homeworld for that training under his late master, to a place so insignificant that it espoused no name. But the work of the Jedi mattered more. It always had.

He still wasn't settled, not when the cloak of darkness was thicker than ever before, not when the galaxy was poised to rend itself apart, but at least he'd found a home that wasn't the cramped space of a snubfighter, a home he could could live with. Places he could be in the in-between, when existence seemed to hold its breath. When in the eye of the storm, where complacency was a poison.

Where he trained, and trained others to be as ready.

Rik had been spending as much time on Corellia as he could, reacquainting himself with the first temple of his path, reconciling himself with the child that started that path here. The boy of five, afraid of hurting anyone, how easily the man wove that same flame now. How he meditated on it, knelt in front of his unlit blade, hands cupping a steady flame that he watched in subtle focus, preparations ahead of the potential for conflict. How it brought light, fed, warmed, sustained, but could also destroy — a metaphor for the responsibility he and all Jedi had.

It had been the same routine for days. Come to one of the side rooms off of the Hall of Sabers, meditate, then break into solitary katas, cadences, or the practise of the first form he'd taken to learning in more than a decade.... but not today, when a visitor approached while the flame still lapped gently at the air. His chin rose, head canting to the figure within his senses, ear to the sound of the approach from behind, waiting for the door to woosh...

OOC:
If you're Jedi, Republic, one of the 'good' guys in general or an ally, then no worries. Come on in!

If you don't belong here, and you're having to sneak into a place you don't belong (this is a Republic world, and a Jedi Enclave) then I expect it won't be easy. I hope you'll reflect that.

Wow, this place is huge.

It was not often that Connel was truly caught in awe. He had seen many things in his relative short life but this was beyond anything that he could have imagined. It makes one wonder what exactly he was imagining here. Truth be told, he had heard “Green Jedi” so much that he had expected some kind of emerald, or forest undertones. Yeah, pretty childish when you think about it. However that did not detract from the sheer size and grandeur of the place. It was a celebration to the planet being out of Imperial, and Sith hands. It was a celebration to the fact that there were still people who would fight for the good of others ahead of themselves.

Connel was a lot of things, but he was one of those people, and could respect those who followed this way of thinking.

Just say the Code.

Anyway, he was here because Lira was having lunch with her mother, aunt, and besties. They wanted “girl time” which meant that they were picking out her dress for the big day. So that left Connel to his own devices and a lot of time to pass. So here he was, playing “tourist” and looking around.

Father would flip if he had seen this place, the old man was always a fan of history and this place was steeped in it.

CORELLIA

Rik knew other Green Jedi were around the Saber, occupied with important tasks, and others still were out attempting to investigate if not deal with some of the elements of crime that had bloomed in the almost half-year that the world wasn’t under the jurisdiction of any galactic government.

Now, Corellia had been brought into the fold of the High Republic, but this was not so long ago. Tthere hadn’t yet been a concerted effort on the part of that government to right his homeworld’s ills, or at least manage them. As such, it was left up to the locals. CorSec struggled. Local Jedi attempted to assist.

So when whoever it was continued to wander, dispelling the notion that someone was coming to him, that only heightened his concern, knowing the current climate of his home. He extinguished the small flame in his hands and rose halfway, one hand sweeping the cold hilt of his unlit blade from the floor as he turned, only to stop with one knee still in contact with the floor.

He paused, listening. Thinking.

The Saber had been constructed to be open to visitors, unlike the less accessible temple that was the heart of the Green Jedi, out in the floating mountains, mountains that never used to float, and a temple that used to be therefore a touch more accessible, until Corellia had been pulled apart, quite literally, by forces beyond anyone’s control, several decades past. A visitor wasn’t an unusual occurrence, here.

As he monitored his senses, physical and metaphysical, the impression he got was that whoever it was, they were merely… curious? No, awed.

Rik’s brows rose a minute amount, and he clipped the hilt to his person, stood the rest of the way, and exited the room, knowing there wasn’t anyone there to greet the stranger. In years past, there would have been someone posted to that duty, or at least sentries in the form of a temple guard or two.

But like the defunct New Jedi Order, the Green Jedi had lost many. Not so many as to be rendered obsolete, though. There were Green Jedi that still prioritised Corellia above all else, an allegiance that was uncommon amongst Jedi from elsewhere, and it was these that made up the brunt of the Green Jedi, now.

Rik came out into the Hall of Sabers, which was the entrance sub-building where he found the visitor, but as they came into view, the Corellian’s steps slowed to a casual gait.

Hey,” He asked, “can I help you?

Oh, I guess I’m out of place here.

Forgive me. I did not mean to intrude. Shows lightsaber. My former Master gave me this idea to come here. He always spoke of reverence. Looks around.

I do not know if he had ever made it here himself, but I wanted to see it with my own eyes. The place looked to be that of a place out of a legend. The fixtures were old, but they looked to be cared for and well maintained. The designs were unique and unlike any other place he had seen. It was as if the place had been designed by someone who had a deep understanding of the Force and its connection to the world around them. Corellia was a planet that was known for its shipyards and culture of independence, but this place felt different.

The fact that he was here alone was a testament to his dedication to the path he had chosen. Caltin may have never been here, but maybe being here would maybe help him understand what his Father had been trying to show him in the form of more than just words or the Force.
