The full sea rolls and thunders
In glory and in glee.
O, bury me not in the senseless earth
But in the living sea!
Ay, bury me where it surges
A thousand miles from shore,
And in its brotherly unrest
I'll range for evermore.

Asmeru. A relatively insignificant planet in the grand scheme of things, the anomaly nearby however was not. Initial scans had shown a gravitic distortion, no doubt the Galactic Alliance would use this to mask any entry into the sector by allied fleets attempting to respond to the impending attack on planets within the sector - First Order Command had taken the initiative, opting to cut them off there - a full fledged battle fleet committed. Additional scans of the system had shown a mass nearby but just outside the gravitational pull from the anomaly, low and sporadic power readings suggesting an abandoned vessel or facility but was unconfirmed.
See Objective Below - See OOC Thread for Rules/Restrictions
Fleet Engagement Zone

 1. Asmeru | Asmeru Anomaly: A gravitic anomaly just outside the immediate area creates a large swirling area in space, a maelstrom effect causing ships to be pulled ever closer in a swirling pattern if they wander too close. This will be the site of the Major Fleet action between fleeters. If you need a visual clue to what we hope to happen, complete with boarding - see here. There will also be a small derelict station just outside the gravitational pull of the anomaly. Unarmed and in varying states of decay, some of the station is pressurized yet, others are not - if the generators were to come online - it is possible that a higher level of life support may be achieved. The model of the station is the following - Doaba Class Defense Station

Jorg let out a long, heavy breath.

Battle was never easy. No Soldier, no Pilot, no Jedi wanted to fight in a war. A few were brave enough to go, but by and large in his experience no one really wanted to. It was something that had to be done, something that could not be ignored or otherwise stopped. The Soldier let out a loud sigh as he drew himself up, eyes darting towards the members of the 5th Legion that surrounded him.

They had made him a Major recently, a promotion that placed him right in the middle of the Legions command structure. A part of him had wanted to reject it, but oddly enough he felt as though he were at home in the rank. It was the same one that he'd held within the Stormtrooper Corpse in the One Sith, and now that he was fighting against the same sort of people it was only fitting he would hold it again. His lips thinned slightly as he slipped on his helmet, the loud sealing hiss ringing out for just a moment before his armor finally closed itself off.

"Alright." He said into his comms. "You all know the plan. No complaining, no retreat. We go."

There were a few nods.

These men knew exactly what they were here to do, they knew exactly what they were about to face. No matter what the 5th Legion and their Galactic Alliance Defense Force brothers faced, they would be there for one another.

Without another word the soldiers of the 5th legion climbed into the Orbalisk-class boarding shuttle, ready for whatever came at them.

Jacen sat quietly in his chambers. He wasn’t meditating, but had a book across his lap. The old fashioned kind. Paper, not flimsiplast or a datapad. The kind that smelled like a book. It was a nice escape from reality. From the prospect of another escalating war, from trying to get his son back on the right path.

Trextan frustrated him. Adele had several proverbs for the matter, but they were of sli comfort when the lad seemed to resist him at every turn. It was better to put some distance between them for now, he had decided. After his arm had been lost the lad had been in some emotional turmoil, but being with others from the Jedi Order and being given tasks to do seemed to be more effective medicine than dealing with his estranged father.

It would perhaps be a sacrifice that could not be undone now. He could have stopped fighting the war and returned home. They had cut off contact with him, not the other way around, but he would be lying to himself if he said that was an insurmountable challenge, that those bridges could not be rebuilt. His relationship with his own flesh and blood for taking part in the war. People had given more, given everything.

“Marshal Voidstalker?”

Jacen looked over at the intercom on the wall. He slid an old, worn leather bookmark into place and walked over to it. He thumbed the button.

“Yes?”

“We’re being diverted. Lothal is currently secure, but First Order movements detected closer to Sullust. We'll be coming out at Asmeru in moments. Weapons are charging and boarding crews are already being prepared."

“Understood, I’ll head to the bridge now.”

The Emperor was very clear about Rear Admiral Gromm Cardan's mission; Since the 52nd System Force was the closest Imperial fleet, stationed over Sekalus, the Admiral had been asked to take a few vessels to the Asmeru system to link up with Grand Admiral Mahan and the First Order's own fleets so that they could take the fight to the scourge of the galaxy, the Galactic Alliance. Admiral Cardan had decided to minimize losses by only bringing two ships: A Munificient-class Star Frigate and a special surprise for the Alliance fleets, a Conqueror-class Star Destroyer. Gromm was extremely nervous, this was the first time the Imperial Remnant would be openly combating the Alliance, for they had been operating in secrecy attacking the Sullustian Starport with the Blackwing Virus.

"We'll be coming out of hyperspace in several minutes, Admiral." Lieutenant Praxon said, sensing Cardan's anxiety as he walked up to him in front of the bridge viewports. "Alright, inform the Grand Admiral and the First Order of our presence once we arrive; Use Standard Battle Encryption, we've given them the codes. Also, before we get to Asmeru, beam a transmission to Captain Keikodi on the Firebrand and tell him to charge for Full Power Ignition once we are out of hyperspace." Admiral Cardan told, turning his tired eyes on his most trusted officer. "Yes, sir. But I must ask...Why the Relic, why are we using, excuse the pun, a relic of the Clone Wars instead of Imperial technology?" Praxon queried, returning the gaze.

A smile formed on Gromm's face "Ah Praxon, I've always favored you for your inquisitive mind. The answer is simple, it is both tactical and psychological; The Munificent-class Star Frigate was built to be manned by a skeleton crew, two-hundred beings for half the power of an Imperial Star Destroyer. I also chose it so that the Alliance does not receive the satisfaction of killing thousands of brave Imperials. They will be obliterated while we only temporarily wounded." He proclaimed. Praxon bowed his head, his curiosity sated, and went off to relay the man's orders.

Cardan turned and ascended the 'pyramid' style lay-out of the Munificent's bridge, taking his rightful place in the command chair, a service droid pouring a fresh cup of caf for the man. "The Alliance will feel the wrath of the Imperial Navy! One by one will their ships fall to superior strategy and technology! The Emperor protects! Glory to the Empire!" Gromm called, making sure to keep up morale and patriotic feelings in the bridge as the 52nd System Force reverted from hyperspace into the open space of Asmeru.

Today was the day two empires united to destroy a bastion of 'freedom'.

Post: I

Admiral Carlyle Rausgeber felt the jolt of reversion back to real space as something of some comfort. Usually the admiral hated the feeling. He held casual disdain to the roughness of the jump, but this time was different. He was in enemy territory now, and the fact his small strike group hadn't been intercepted by a wayward interdictor cruiser, or some other form of countermeasure. So that by itself was something of comfort. The admiral immediately stalked through the bridge of the FIV Brawl. To be perfectly he wasn't quite used to the ship. It didn't have the size, or the power projected usually by the Malice, or the FIV Vindicator, but it would nonetheless serve its purpose. Today, Carlyle was no longer the executive officer of Battlegroup Imperator, but rather Strike Force Reach. While his underlings would be elsewhere, securing supply lines, Carlyle would lead from the front as a frigate officer.

"Status report." Carlyle ordered, looking out over the anomaly in the distance, he felt his stomach somewhat clench. He knew deep down inside that this battle was going to be bloody, perhaps the bloodiest he'd ever seen. His thoughts drifted back to his beloved Avalonia, and to the billions whose hopes, dreams and lives depended on their success.

"All systems online sir," The Chief Engineering Officer reported, he was a younger man, probably mid twenties with a deep red beard. The Engineer looked at Carlyle expectantly, and the admiral found his thoughts interupted. He needed to focus on this battle, on the future.

"Good," Carlyle replied, licking his dry lips, "Are all ships in position?" The Dosuunian admiral asked.

"Yes sir, the Strike Force is ready, and prepared for your command." The Signals Officer informed her superior. "We also have a fleet which has arrived, it appears to be the Remnant." She was alternatively older than her engineering counterpart. Her hair was tied in a neat, brunette bun, with some streaks of grey in there. A look Carlyle personally admired.

"We hold position." Rausgeber replied, looking at the crew, "We wait, open lines for communication with our colleagues." That was another reason for apprehension, could this 'Imperial Remnant' be trusted? Carlyle pressed his thoughts away, with the warm burning taste of his Corellian Ale flask.
"We have a live line," Signals reported.

Carlyle slipped the flask away, and looked at the holoprojector, he was the splitting image of the long dead Orson Krennic with his uniform on, "Ah, welcome," The admiral said, "I am Admiral Rausgeber, I take it you're one of our allies for this incursion?"

"Commodore Jutland reporting for duty. I'm afraid Yula couldn't come: she was too busy fighting those Sith on Elom"

"So you have finally arrived, Master Jutland: I hope the price I paid for your services is well worth it today"

"Acknowledged, but the gravitational anomaly in the intelligence reports about our destination causes problems"

"I know enough about general relativity that we should load the gravitational anomaly protocols into the targeting computers: the gravitational anomaly WILL affect targeting solutions of anything remotely resembling a hypervelocity cannon and, if it is severe enough, we will fall prey to gravitational lensing. Then again, so will the enemy"

"What do you mean, general relativity?"

"Basically, it says that mass causes gravitational anomalies, which, in turn, cause space-time distorsions: I heard about it all the time when I learned topology"

Julie Jutland was a naval commander of the Outer Rim Coalition hired on a mercenarial basis to do precisely one thing here: use battle meditation to help out the Alliance navy. And the gravitational anomaly was, of course, something included in the intelligence that claimed that the First Order will launch an attack on Asmeru, which will make it much more challenging to both attack and defend. One thing is for sure: the topology course Cathul took back in the day was geared towards more applied uses of topology, like general relativity. Speaking of topology, she made the hyperjump calculations with her own mind prior to their departure, going from Polis Massa to Asmeru, departing the asteroid field as soon as the extra units arrived. And she knew more or less what to do if there was a Darr Itah present: fire the long-range hypervelocity cannons at the engines, and just about any bit of dumb-fired long-range weapons she had at her disposal at it.

"Battle stations! Engage the gravitational anomaly protocols! Load the medium bombs on the D-Wings and the heavy bombs on the K-Wings! Remember, however, that, for saety purposes, they count double towards the allowance of ordnance. All units, report in"

"Hero of Coruscant standing by" Carmen acknowledged.

"Vengeance for Kaeshana standing by"

"Chandrila Hostages standing by"

[...]

"All units accounted for"

Basically, this means that D-Wings can only load two bombs apiece, and that the K-Wings will receive two heavy bombs each. Cathul expected that, in such engagements, lower survivability means that they have to make every single piece of ordnance count. May as well load the heaviest pieces first. Also, weapons are being charged; however, one cannot charge the shields while in hyperspace. However, on Kaeshana she didn't cause nearly as much trauma to the First Order as she would have liked, as she knew only the destruction of a battlecruiser, preferably the Darr Itah being committed, by virtue of being the flagship of one Cyrus Tregessar, would have caused the desired amount of trauma.

"Vengeance for Kaeshana! We shall cause traumas to the First Order and the Imperial Remnant! The survivors will get PTSD like they never have!"

"Vengeance for Kaeshana!" the other crewmen shouted.

"You ready, Thule?"

I glance up from the table where my sonic rifle is stripped down to is pieces. Dallows stands in the doorway, helmet under one arm.

"Yeah, LT. Just have to put it back together."

"So another hour, got it."

We share a laugh.

Dallows is also from Theed. I think that might be why he is more accepting of me than the others. I wonder how many battles I will have to be in to earn their respect, but figure that I won't stop until it is earned. I get where they are coming from: elite unit, close knit, gets a rookie officer who never went through SpaceOps marine training shoved on them by R&D. The only thing I'd proved to them during my first day with the team was that I was more droid than human. My skin is synth flesh. My heart is rybcoarse. Even my nervous system is bio-engineered.

Does it make me a better soldier? Yes. Better at fighting.

Does it make me part of the Teams? No.

A few minutes later, I stand with the others outside the shuttle. There are about fifty of us, but not all marines. Half are fifth legion. There are some freeloaders too. One is a Jedi, or so Dallows said. I share a nod with my lieutenant, then I slide my helmet on and twist it into place until I hear the click and hiss. My HUD lights up with indicators and I reflexively check the vacseal in the lower lefthand corner. All good.

So far my unit has faced rogue Sith and small militia forces. On Atrisia, I saw things that leave me sleepless. Beasts of nightmares and sorcerers with power beyond reckoning. Today is different.

Smiling slightly, I climb inside the shuttle.

Today, we get to kill Imperials.

X<-- Time to hold the line

Aboard the "Hewy Lewis" all was peace full, the mad scramble of readying a fleet for the last seventy-two hours was over. The Imperial Remnant fleet has not snuck out of Skekus unnoticed and to counter their preserved hostile movements the Coalition had with permission sent a fleet of their own into Alliance space to assist.

Bryce, commanding the assistance force was laying down on a massage table while his trusted agent Layla worked her magic to sooth his troubled mind. As she worked Felicity relayed the fleet data to him...

"Twenty-two ship in total Bryce, most of Gallofree make. Still I have to ask why did you pick such... unique names for them." Felicity said.

"Ah blame it on our "flagship" it reminded me of a band so I named the ships after some of their hits." Bryce replied.

"Uh ok, still what good are thirteen medium transports going to be in a battle if we get into one?"

"Thirteen transports fulled with over thirty thousand meters of Ion mines and QQ-4u85-tractor-shrouds on their bows to be exact. They can be very useful if used correctly. A ten thousand meter blast radius is nothing to sneeze at. If in a group of fighters it will fry most instantly. If next to capital ship it is like getting hit by a few shots from a planetary defense ion cannon. Very useful my dear."

"If you say so Bryce, still why not just bring a more conventional force?"

"Cause we don't really have a lot to work with out here. So when the force gives you lemons... ah you know the rest. Anyway how long till we reach Asmeru?"

"Still hours out."

"Good then enough let Layla work in peace and we will start the serious planning stuff when we get closer."

Alexandra Morrow stood on her command bridge of ANS Liberator, a new addition to the Galactic Alliance fleet. She and her new command ship had been assigned to patrol and defend the Asmeru system as part of a combined fleet. After the defeat at Kaeshana, the Galactic Alliance and Firemane Industries had grown closer. As such, some of their ships were integrating into the GADF fleets in various systems. Firemane had requested deployment to those places where it was most likely they would come into contact with First Order ships. That company had declared open war on the First Order after Kaeshana, and the Galactic Alliance was always happy to have strong allies. That alliance accounted for two of the ships in Lexi’s fleet, FNS Sarix and FNS Fireborne.

At the moment, Battle Group Tempest was assisting a scientific survey of the Maw, an anomaly in the Asmeru system. The science ships were all but undefended, as they gave up most armaments for advanced scanning systems and engines. Thus, Lexi had her ships doing maneuvers near the Maw. Not close enough to interfere with any scans, but close enough to screen the science ships from anyone jumping into the system long enough for them to jump clear.

That moment came too soon for Alexandra, as despite her youth in her rank she was not a bloodthirsty Admiral. She had received warning from the early detection systems that had been laced throughout the sector, and as the First Order Fleets were reverting back to normal space the science ships were jumping out. Alexandra had her ships arrayed in a vertical wall, each ship angled to be able to advance on the enemy as well as attack with weapons once they got within range.

"Admiral Morrow, we are detecting hyper footprints along the avenues the early detection system alerted us to. Analysis is still coming back on force composition, but we have no allies coming in from those vectors." The sensor officer reported from his station. She nodded and stepped up toward the screen at the forward end of the armored command center buried within the ship.

"Thank you. Send the signal through the Alliance fleets that are assembled and any in the area. We are at Case Zulu, invasion imminent." She said with a sigh, looking on as markers populated on the screen, showing where the enemy forces were. "Launch ready alert fighters, and set condition one throughout the fleet, and activate the Alliance tactical net. Admiral Thuku is in the system, and we should have some other Alliance forces near enough as well. Open up a channel to the First Order fleets."

"Ma'am, we don't have posit..."

"I know, but it is going to be the First Order."

"Channel Open." The communications officer reported. Lexi nodded, then arched an eyebrow towards the holoviewer and steeled her eyes.

"This is Admiral Alexandra Morrow of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. You have entered Alliance protected territory and the sovereign space of Asmeru. You are ordered to reverse course and remove your ships now." She spoke on the open channel, directed at the First Order fleets that had shown up. Thanks to the sensor platforms that previous Alliance personnel had planted throughout the sector, there wouldn't be any surprises. Already they were tracking other hostile entities entering, as well as a few Alliance signals in hyperspace. She pressed a stud on a nearby panel that muted her side, letting her hear any response, then turned to speak to the communications officer, blocking her mouth from being seen.

"Have the To Vhin pilots ready to launch at a moments notice along with our K-Wing squadrons."

She received an affirmative from the communications officer, and green lights began to flicker on as her ships began to show readiness.

"Send a message to Admiral Thuku, have her maintain the center position and we will provide the starboard flank." With a nod, the communication officer sent the message to Admiral Thuku, with Admiral Morrow's compliments added.

He was quiet. He typically wasn't like this. Oh, no, when it came to large scaled battles like these he was always chatting with his comrades prior to engaging the enemy; however, he didn't found any comrades on this boarding party. They weren't him. They didn't share his face or his blood. He felt like an outcast, but that was because he put himself like that. Truth be told, he was a supremacist in the Alliance. Canal treated his men like crap, considered them inferior when he compared them to himself, and would risk their lives in order to accomplish goals that the lighthearted couldn't have done.

He had a similar personality to two clone commanders in the Clone Wars; one being harsh to his own blood, yet the two sharing hatred for soldiers that didn't carried the blood of an ancient, yet infamous Mandalorian bounty hunter that conceived a grand army just from donating his own blood.

But if there was one other thing that the clone despised more than fighting alongside non-Fett clones were stormtroopers and those that served in any Imperial army. That reason was enough for him to cooperate with soldiers of the Fifth Legion and the marines of GADF.

Still no words were said from his mouth after Jorg briefly addressed the task force of what they were about to do and expected no hints of retreat or complaining. Though thoughts were produced in his mind, thoughts that anyone on the task force didn't want to hear. Silently he boarded the shuttle and immediately sat himself down, lowering the braces of the seat above him in case they somehow crash land.

I hope this pilot is fast.

The crew of the Argo was slowly filling up the stations on command deck as the alarms in the crew quarters had gone on when there were twenty minutes left before reverting to realspace. Coffee mugs in hand, the crew took their positions on the various stations still waking up from the good long sleep they had surely appreciated.

"So what's fun to do on Asmeru, anyone been here before?" Dyre's voice rang through the deck. "Please don't say the anomaly."

"I still think that's a myth." Duriq, the short Snivvian engineer shrugged when all eyes fell upon him. "Hey, real eyes realize real lies. Just like Alderaan. That was an inside job."

Bewildered looks were painted on everyone's faces as they glanced at each other trying to find a reply. Agenor drew out a long sigh and rolled his eyes before he turned his back to the rest of the crew.

"Duri, please take your meds." Ilani, the Argo's female Nagai tech specialist brought a few chuckles in response.

"You're all blind to the truth, I tell you. Now let me tell you about the Gulag Plague and the New Galactic Order..."

And so did the next ten minutes go with Duriq explaining conspiracy theories to the crew of the Argo which were burying their faces in their hands in reaction to what they were listening to.

None of them expected to find two massive fleets at their throats when they reverted back to realspace.

“They are with you,” Natasi called, her voice amplified only by the acoustics of the room, passion and emotion echoing from the bulkheads. “An entire nation -- an entire people -- stand ready to follow you into the fires of war. For every man and woman who takes up arms there are those who work to support your efforts in fields and factories across our great empire. And more importantly, the Supreme Leader is with you -- standing behind you every step of the way.”

She paused, her dark eyes nearly glowing as the lights reflected off them. “This is a war for the very survival of our civilization, and it will be a long and difficult war. But working together -- fighting together -- as one people -- we cannot be defeated! Let us claim Mustafar for the Supreme Leader and his glorious empire!”
From her command chair in the CIC, Suravi viewed the recording of the broadcast dispassionately. She admired Natasi, and her speech hadn't been bad, but Suravi and her people had already been through this song and dance whilst serving under the Old Republic, One Sith, and the Dominion. Their hearts no longer stirred from emotional appeals or any lofty ideals. Those folks into that were dead and gone. Those who remained did not fight to for any great ideological crusade, this was now just a way of life. A simple hatchet job.

Shots of a fiery Natasi were replaced those of astronomical displays of her task force’s destination, the Asmeru system. A curious stage, not least because of the strange gravitonic anomaly near Asemru itself. Even under the best conditions, it was quite the task to navigate around that sinkhole, and now she may have to do while engaging the Galactic Alliance, exponentially complicating maneuvers. Much of her time during and immediately proceeding transit had been dedicated to adjusting her tactics and formations to account for the phenomena. For the scientist, this was just about the most enjoyable aspect of the coming engagement so far, looking to make the anomaly work for her.

“We're now entering the Senex sector,” Commander Cutlerhttp://www.aceshowbiz.com/images/wennpic/jeffrey-wright-premiere-the-ides-of-march-01.jpg announced from behind his console. “Reversion in approximately fifteen minutes. The first wave of Imperial formations has just dropped in-system.”

“Very good,” she answered, nodding. “Make sure we soak up as much data from them as we can before we drop in so we aren’t just running in there completely blind. Be ready to disperse ISR flights as soon as we arrive.”

“Ma’am, a transmission being relayed by the First Order,” a senior comm officer reported. “It’s from the Galactic Alliance.”

“Oh, this ought to be good, let me have a listen.”

The officer nodded and forwarded the message to her console:

"This is Admiral Alexandra Morrow of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. You have entered Alliance protected territory and the sovereign space of Asmeru. You are ordered to reverse course and remove your ships now."
A waste of breath. Everyone knew the First Order and its allies had come in looking to break things all across the sector. Her words were just a formality at this point. There was no stopping the march of the Imperials, the Galactic Alliance was going continue pay for years of inaction during their adventures in the outer regions. This was going all the way to Sullust, and she was more than happy to be part of the ride, leaving every Alliance world in flames in her wake.

Life was simple. Life was calm. Adder appreciated both of those things more than she could ever put into words, and pursued them with a dedication bordering on religious.

Going to the range helped put her mind to rest. Carving a piece of wood in the breeze of a summer evening banished fitful thought. But there was one activity above all that kept Adder happy and serene: tinkering.

With a hydrospanner in one hand and a greasy rag in the other, the redhead was as content as a cat in the sun. A smile lay placid on her lips. Her green eyes held the focus of a laser as she stared up at the bowels of the hyperdrive. The floor was cool against her back even through the mechanic overalls of the blue persuasion, tied in a mess above her utility belt.

Adder puffed away a stray red hair and furrowed her brow at the stubborn engine.

“This ain’t what we agreed to, darlin’,” the woman chided in her best Sulon drawl. The moon had rubbed off on her over the years, from clothes through food to accent. Funny, what settling down would do to you.

“Kazen complained you’ve been coughing a bit lately, yeah?” Clucking her tongue, Adder shoved the hydrospanner between two loose modulators. “So how ‘bout I fix you up, and you stop giving poor Kaz grief? Force knows he’s got enough on his plate with the twins.”

And thus the conversation went, back and forth between good cop and bad cop. Ultimately – like always – the rebellious hyperdrive gave under her steady pressure. She was just tightening the damper plates back up when the first shudder shook the ship.

Frowning, Adder scrambled back to her feet and away from the drive, eyeing it with a narrow gaze. Wasn’t a sound she’d ever heard from an engine before, but you could never—

The next rumble was louder. Closer too – close enough to confirm it was coming from the outside.

Adder banged her head against the wall and squeezed her eyes shut. Boots stomped overhead, the heavy steps of soldiers heading to battle.

Bile rose in her throat. Tears stung her eyes. Her grip on the hydrospanner went white as she bared her teeth at no-one in particular.

Maybe the universe, for frakking her over again.

“Frak you,” she spat, quiet and venomous and impossibly angry.

“Frak you all.”

Then she dropped her tools and climbed up the ladder to fly into another pointless war.

Battle-group Seven exited out of hyperspace mere moments before the 52nd Sector Fleet. Mahan watched from his personal cabin as he finished the last of administrative work he had promised himself he would conduct before attending to the battle of the day. Normally, Mahan wouldn't spend the lead up to a Naval battle working on trivial paperwork, but he did not take this battle as seriously as a main combatant would. Despite this being a joint operation carried out by the First Order and Imperial Remnant, the IR forces were serving as a support fleet for the main assualt by First Order vessels. One could tell just by looking at the numbers, the Remnant brought only three vessels, paling in comparison to the dozens of vessels that were last reported to Mahan to be brought. Although the IR's vessels on average were much larger and had much heavier armament, they were to trade fire with the other big berthas on the battlefield to cover the First Order. But Mahan was still a professional, and as such, he needed to be in proper commanding position for an engagement.

The Duros stood up from his desk and closed whatever programs open on his mobile computer, shutting once finished. Mahan left his cabin through a doorway he had not entered it through, into the command suite. The command suite was a very large room adjacent to his personal cabin and the corridor over, that held digital charts across its walls and a large diamond shaped table in the middle that projected a 3D holomap. When the Grand Admiral entered, some of his staff officers and command directors had arrived. Within five minutes of Mahan's arrival, all but his Chief of Staff, Rear Admiral Hardeen, (Commander of Battle-group Seven) and Rear Admiral Cardan had arrived, the latter to be in hologram form. Once all required had arrived, the hatches were locked and Mahan entered his code cylinders from his breast pocket into the table, unlocking its contents for their use. With a few taps of the finger, Mahan inputed the table to project the active map of the current area. Ships, astronomical objects, and other material in the space region were projected before them, Alliance controlled identifying in red, First Order in blue, Imperial Remnant in green, and finally unidentified in grey.

Mahan broke the silence in the room, "As per your pre-briefing, Imperial Remnant forces are not to be directly engaging in head on combat with the Galactic Alliance, instead we will station our vessels here," The map shifted as the red and blue ships moved into position for optimal firing salvos, Mahan pointed directly behind the blue ships and the green vessels moved to the location he was gesturing, "Instead we will be providing supporting fire using our cruisers, and the Conquerer Star Destroyer. Our main focus will be here," Mahan moved his finger to the largest red ships, "On the Alliance flagships, to draw out their fire from our First Order allies. From there on out we are to engage any of their heavy hitters until we have neutralized them." No response was admitted from any of his staff, "Now, lets move on to firing arrays and squadron formations-" Mahan's aide interrupted, "Sir, the Captain requests we make contact with our First Order allies." Mahan responded immediately, "Inform local First Order forces the Imperial Fleet is ready to conduct joint operations with them once we receive contact from their commanding officer of the fleet engagement." The junior officer made a small bow, and left the war room to inform the captain. Mahan sighed, "Back to firing arrays and squadron formations..."

"No," Commander Cyone said with a smile to Lieutenant Choi. "You can look at me with puppy dog eyes all day long, the answer is still no."

The Lieutenant sighed, he was only asking for one round with the holosimulators he was really wanting to test out the new holo-sim game, Andromeda. Choi looked back at the Commander and sighed again, "you know I'm not going to be the only one asking for this."

"And they'll all get the same answer, no." She shifted her weight between her legs and pulled her black tunic down by its hems. "We're about to engage the Galactic Alliance, Choi. I need you at your best, so, if we win you and everyone else who wants to play. Can play back on Dosuun, and if we don't win then I guess I'll just see you on the other side, mhmm?"

Choi pushed his lips to the side, "we're scientists, why are we even-"

"We're also Imperials, and if you want to question orders again then I'd suggest you rethink the uniform you're wearing." Cyone's voice was stern and clear, "you saw exactly what kind of enemy we're facing, the kind of tyrant that the Galactic Alliance is. At this point, it's them or us. Dismissed, Lieutenant." The Commander kept her cool but it disappointed her to hear that her men would prefer a game right at this moment.

"Commander to the bridge," her communication badge chirped. Aermoira tapped her badge, "on my way." She gave Lieutenant Choi another look before watching him depart her ready room. Heading down the small hall, and down the three steps, she found herself on the bridge. "Status report."

"We'll be emerging in realspace within the next ten minutes," Ensign Quentin advised as Lieutenant Commander Valasquez rose from the command chair.

The FIV Constellation was leading a small task group into Asmeru, the task group comprised of two Empire-class heavy frigates, three Mukhtiar-class corvettes, two Fortan-class heavy corvettes and six Bolt-class picket corvettes. Their job was to provide cover support where needed, and at the moment Commander Cyone was studying Asmeru and the anomaly. "Valasquez any suggestions on the anomaly?"

"We'll need to maintain a ten kilometre spread from it, outside of that there's nothing else I can suggest. Did you have any ideas?"

Cyone shook her head, "that was going to be my suggestion."

"Reversion in three, two, and one," Ensign Quentin counted down as the small task group emerged from hyperspace on edges of the Asmeru system. Commander Cyone looked toward Quentin who then opened the encrypted channel to the First Order and her allies.

Rising from her seat the Commander spoke, "sirs, this is Commander Cyone and task group sixty-two, reporting as ordered, sirs."

Hellburner fleet had come out of hyperspace far short of Asmeru. His orders had been simple, they were to drop out in dead space and go comm silent till called upon. Anyone looking forbyhem would need to be within 20km to even pick up emitions or their very weak short range transmissions. Gathering the flight leaders from every squadron, captains of the "125s", "105s", and astromechs piloting the "75s" short range holo'd in for the final review. This was not going to be a pretty operation. Reports of sizable fleets of First order, Imperial remnant, and ever dishonored republic were all either in system or converging. The hellburners didn't have the biggest, most advanced or karking prettiest ships. But they had moxy and a plan.

"Flight leaders, I want you to check and recheck every star fighter and bomber before we enter system. Those modified flight data recorders are vital, we need that data fend back to the "Hewy Lewis" is we are going to do any good out there. Remember your going to be out numbered, and probably out matched with ship tech. We need to play this smart, follow orders to the letter and for the fething love of the maker no going off plan."

Bryce then turned to captains of the other ships and their fuzzy holo projections. "Spin up your hyper-drives and arm all weapons, all flight crews need to be at actions stations and ready for immediate launch. We may only get one chance at this so we need to make it count. If things go sideways and you lose communication jump to the predetermined locations as instructed."

"All crews, may the force be with us."

Nothing happened yet, she was just sensing and feeling the systems, and saying hello. It was always easier for Spark to get along with ships and technology than people. People were complicated and messy.

There was a jostle at her back and her mind receded back to their shuttle. Blue-eyes cracked open. She'd forgotten how packed these boarding parties had to be. #personalbubblespacebroken!!! Enemies: GADF and ORC Forces

Words had failed at Kaeshana. From the moment that GADF ships had declined to withdraw war between the two great powers in the Outer Rim was all but an inevitability. But the First Order had been preparing for this inevitability since well before a humanitarian operation turned into a full-blown battle. The battlelines had been drawn years ago, and all across the border fleets were mobilized and prepared for the fight. Those on the outside watched with dread and the strange nagging sort of interest that accompanies any vision of atrocity. The galaxy had seen its fair share of wars in the past decade, the brutal Republic-Sith affair, and the lightning quick decisive conflicts that had seen the fall of both those powers. Those who were hoping for a rapid sort of thing were due to be disappointed.

The First Order, having seized the initiative by their victory at Kaeshana, struck first. While there were plenty of hotly debated concepts deep in Strategic Headquarters on Dosuun, the general trend was agreed on by all the branches. The might of the Empire had been in its resilience, its indomitable will, and superior firepower. The First Order followed suite. This would be no blitzkrieg, but a meticulously planned and carefully executed grand offensive. The first blow would fall in the Atravis Sector.

Even with a series of raids conducted along the length of the border, and heavy skirmishing around the Morellian Trade Spine, it was impossible to miss the maneuvers and movements of troops that lead up to the offensive. Not for lack of trying, though. Fighting was fiercest around New Balosar and Pendari, and both sides were forced to reevaluate their assessment of their opponents preparations. Casualties were light across the front, nobody wanted to risk it all for a feint, after all.

Three full Battlegroups were dispatched to take the sector, with the systems of Mustafar, Barkesh, and Rutan being the primary objectives. Initial movements ran into a problem almost immediately, a result of the lack of detailed astrographic surveys in the Outer Rim. While there were decent routes to the primary objectives, further movement required either practically unplotted routes with limited hyperspace time (and thus incredibly slow) or a single four-jump bottleneck that centered on the Asmeru system.

Committing too many ships to take Asmeru would leave the whole offensive vulnerable to forces shuffled through the back routes, but failure to secure it would mean the enemy could use overwhelming force to seize the space around any of the primary objectives while friendly forces were tied down.

First Order Central Command took approximately 46 minutes to come to a decision. A single specialized Task Force was assembled from components of all three Battlegroups and a contingent of allied vessels from the Imperial Remnant. Under the direct operational command of Grand Admiral [member="Cyrus Tregessar"], Combined Task Force 74 was tasked to seize control of Asmeru, or at the very least fight a delaying action to deny the GADF the opportunity to use the system as focal point for a counter-offensive.

The Malice hummed with what Cyrus almost felt was a near-sentient delight as it reverted into realspace in Asmeru. While no two Darr Itah's were exactly alike (the task of assembling such a large vessel making it all but a certainty that there would significant internal variation) the ship was still basically familiar to him, and the layout of CIC was, though not an exact copy of the Contempt, close enough as made no difference. With the latter ship still undergoing repairs after the crippling damage it had received at Kaeshana, the Malice was going to be his flagship for the foreseeable future. Too bad he still hadn't had time to update the class with some of the First Order's advanced turbolaser tech. These days it seemed he had want of nothing but time.

Planning invasions wasn't exactly a quick process, after all.

No sooner had most of the fleet checked in than sensor reports began to flood in. As expected, the GADF had come to the same strategic conclusion as Central Command, and dispatched a force to take the system.

"This is Admiral Alexandra Morrow of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. You have entered Alliance protected territory and the sovereign space of Asmeru. You are ordered to reverse course and remove your ships now."
Cyrus' only response was to frown ever so slightly, then transmit a brief order over the Task Force Command Net.

"All ships, open fire."

The main battery of the Malice, eight of the huge Mk 74 HVC's and four Binary Fusion Ion Cannons, plus the secondary batteries of Long Range Turbolasers and Ion Cannons, took aim at the ANS Resolute and in one massive volley, unleashed their devastating barrage.

Actions Taken:

Opening fire on targets of opportunity, but especially the Resolute, with long-range weapons. Given extreme range, damage is expected to be minimal. Consider it more of a 'reply' than actual attack.

The Relic loomed over the Firebrand like a sort of bird-of-prey, its shadow projecting on the Conqueror-class Star Destroyer. "Sir, Grand Admiral Mahan is already here, there is a holocall for a small briefing. But a First Order Admiral has already made contact, what do you wish I do, Sir?" Ensign Picus called to the Rear Admiral from his station. "The Grand Admiral can wait for a few minutes, the Emperor wants us to thaw relations with the Order. Open up the line with the Order's Admiral." Cardan muttered. "Ah, welcome," The admiral said, "I am Admiral Rausgeber, I take it you're one of our allies for this incursion"?

'Good Lord, Caalgen has a clone.' Gromm immediately thought as he saw the Admiral in the exact same uniform that their very own Director of Advanced Weapons Research usually worse, white duster and all. "Yes, Admiral. I am Rear Admiral Cardan of the Imperial Navy; I assume you are in command of this operation?" Cardan greeted, a faint smile appearing on his features "But before we get too into conversation, I'd like to state my sincere apology for that little incident near Void Station. This time you will see our special weapon turned on the Alliance scourge instead of our Imperial brothers".

At that moment, Lieutenant Praxon walked up to the Rear Admiral "Sir, the advanced sensors are detecting dozens of Alliance vessels coming out of hyperspace. So far four ships that fit the size profile of a star destroyer are on our scopes; Their fleets seem to be mostly composed of corvettes. One of the lead ships is requesting that we turn back and leave their space." He reported, his hands behind his back. Gromm pondered for a moment, a smirk forming on his features, before answering "Very well, ignore the message that the Alliance has sent to us and keep our fighters in their hangars refueled and ready to launch. What is the status on the Firebrand?" Cardan queried.

"Captain Keikodi reported a few minutes ago that all of the reactors are almost charged, he estimates a few more minutes before they are ready to fire at full power." Praxon relayed. "Good, send our sensor data to the First Order and Grand Admiral Mahan. Also...Tell Keikodi to target the Alliance fleet and fire a single reactor burst, give those fools something to think about." Gromm said, he lifted a hand and pressed a few buttons on the holoprojector, joining the briefing on the Providence II. Rear Admiral Cardan listened, scowling internally as he heard what they were going to do, but he understood. Gromm immensely disliked the Grand Admiral's strategy, but he respected the man.

"Captain, Rear Admiral Cardan has requested that we fire on the Alliance fleet, single reactor ignition." An ensign reported from the crew pits of the bridge. "I assume he wants to start the psychological warfare early." Captain Keikodi mused "Target one of the star destroyers we picked up on our sensors". A reticule appeared on the viewscreen over the estimated position of a singular destroyer that was part of the Alliance's forces, "Fire." Keikodi growled.

"Commence Primary Ignition" The Chief Gunnery Officer announced, moving towards a weapons control console and pressing several switches; Gunners and Technicians around the control room did so as well, pulling levers and flipping switches. The CGO gave the signal and the primary firing sequence was activated: Tributary beams rushed down their tubes, combining eight beams into one and eight of those beams into another until the concave dish on the Firebrand lit up with proton beams that fired into an invisible force field that converged them into one, powerful single-reactor blast that launched towards the Alliance destroyer.

Task Force 191 was newly formed in the shadow of the incident over Kaeshanna. The command of TF 191 was given to the newly promoted Captain, Aran Piett, command seemed to figure he did a decent job over Kaeshanna. Though Aran felt the opposite, too many of his forces were lost to his liking. Now was his time to give the GADF payback. Task Force 191 entered the system with the FIV Malice, their job was to be the picket for Grand Admiral Tregessar. Aran's command was placed on the FIV Subjugator, the Victory-X Heavy Cruiser, which was his original command. Aran felt a sense of comfort back on the bridge of this vessel. Aran's bridge crew was made up of the ones who had served with him since Kaeshanna or earlier, his XO was as always but now promoted to reflect Aran's new rank of Captain, Commander Maree Halsey, Halsey had been with Aran since the beginning. The newer officers however were Lieutenant Haytham "Weps" West, Aran's weapons officer, and Lieutenant Joannie Moreau, the chief engineer.
As Aran's forces entered the system, he had tasked them all to form around the Malice. His job was protection duty. Looking out from the bridge of the Subjugator, he could see the enemy their forces didn't seem to change much from the skirmish over Kaeshanna.
"Captain orders coming from Malice actual...."
"Aye Commander, what are they?"
".....All ships, open fire."
"Send, an affirmative to Malice Actual, and order the Task Force to open fire, have the Contempt, Fortitude, and Barrage hold fire and defend the from Star fighters. Weps open fire closest ship."
"Aye Captain, opening fire."
"Order sent to Task Force."
"Good Commander."
Task Force 191 formed up around the FIV Malice, for defense.
The Subjugator, Arrestor, and Remote are attacking the nearest ships
to them. Following orders from Grand Admiral Tregessar, extreme range so more of a "reply" as well, but showing we are there.
