As part of our continued update of rules and mechanics we have decided to use the Flashpoints both more regularly, and for experimental rules changes. Each month will have a different theme and after they are done we will take a look at what's happened and see what worked and what didn't. If we feel they worked well then with some tweaks they will become part of the sites rules.
The Flashpoint rules for Dominions will not be used for this month.
So, for October we have Campaigns
At any stage a Major Faction may launch a Campaign against an adjacent Major Faction provided the attacking Major Faction are not currently the attacker in another Campaign or Invasion. A Major Faction may only be the target of one Campaign at a time. A Campaigns are large scale Invasions where the stakes to win or lose are higher.
Campaigns follow all rules for Invasions with the following exceptions.
Factions may declare their intent to launch a Campaign from the 24th of September (GMT) to begin in 7 days on the 1st, as per the usual invasion rules.
Launching a Campaign is a risk, but the prize is significant.
For clarity about which hexes may be chosen, here is a theoretical example of what 'made adjacent through conquest' means. (With apologies to SJO)
Or they might choose up to 5 hexes to attack which are already adjacent or any combination in between.
It is not expected that factions try to write stories in all the hexes targeted, but rather choose a location they feel is interesting. The other conquests one way or another are the result of this victory or defeat.
We will evaluate how this goes in October and if it works it will be tweaked based on suggestions and added to the rules.

Campaigns follow all rules for Invasions with the following exceptions.
- The completed Campaign thread must have a total of 200 posts from all parties.
- When an attacking faction declares its intent to launch an Invasion they may choose between 2-5 adjacent hexes (either directly or which could be made adjacent through conquest). This may not include a capital hex unless it is already directly adjacent.
- If the attacker is the winner of the Campaign they immediately take possession of all the chosen hexes.
- However, if the defender is the winner of the campaign they may take that same number of hexes from the attacker. The hexes taken must otherwise conform with the rules mentioned above.
- In the case of a drawn campaign both sides receive 2 hexes.
