SPECIAL FEATURES
- Burst Feature: All of the EMC100's on board a vessel can combine their electromagnetic charge in order to unleash a spherical burst with the ship or location on which they have been placed as epicenter, allowing for the rapid and timely deactivation of nearby electronic systems such as rockets and missiles, but also vehicles, droids and other electromechanical components. This is however, very draining for the system to which it is linked and can't be used more than once before needing a full recharge of the connected systems.
- Targeted EMP: because it essentially fires off bursts of electromagnetic pulses, it is much more pinpoint accurate and capable of targeting much smaller vessels and objects with higher accuracy, allowing for a much more reliable defensive perimeter.
- Pinpoint accuracy: Smaller bursts with a guiding lane built into the design, allow for better accuracy of the pulses and prevents collateral effects to a much higher degree.
- Overclocking capacity: Capable of overclocking for a small moment, a combined use of all the EMC100's can effectively unleash a hughe burst of EMP to take out most, if not all nearby electronics within a range of one to two kilometers.
- Small size: The small and light build of these EMC100's allows for a wide range of placements and uses across a variety of ships, vehicles and even locations.
- Relatively short Range: The shorter range of these weapons makes them mainly function in a defensive role and placement, though they do tend to shine in this aspect.
- Overclocking: The overclocking capacity of these EMC100's can put a severe strain on the connected ship, vehicle or location's systems, thus forcing the use of this overclocking to the bare minimum and usually reserving it for strict emergency use.
Designed as a defensive meassure to be coupled to the well known ARD monotype point defense system, the EMC100 'SPECTRE' electromagnetic burst canons have been tested mainly as a means to act as a non-lethal meassure when it comes to defense, allowing for possible deactivated machinery, vessels and vehicles to be salvaged or repurposed afterwards. This would also allow for any ship or vessel utilizing these weapon placements to effectively neutralize starfighters in close proximity of capital ships or in rare cases these can also be placed unto starfighters in order to sabotage and cripple the electronic systems of larger ships, making these a dual purpose weapon with a relatrively large variety of uses.
Within the design, the use of powercells and being coupled to ships, vehicles or locations' electrical systems allows for these placements to combine their power in an overclocking of its internals in order to fire off a practically all-encompassing burst of electromagnetism in a defensive meassure to try and take down as many enemy craft or ordinance in a single go. However, this implemented meassure could also result in a complete shutdown of the connected systems and thus is adviced to only be used in a desperate meassure.
The design and engineering process behind this piece of machinery has been done by the EnSol division and has been thoroughly tested aboard older Tyrant III vessels and smaller MBT patrol ships to test their viability in combat, with later tests also being conducted using CEASAR tanks and ARW walkers to field test the EMC100 in a planetary setting. In all cases the overclocking had resulted in a long range burst of EMP that consequently also completely drained the connected systems, thus making it a mandatory warning for any customer to only use this capacity sparingly.
