SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Accurized: Almost the entire point behind building of the rifle was to create a extremely accurate for precise, point targeting shooting and this rifle achieves this in spades
  • Versatile: Besides being extremely accurate the rifle is also extremely versatile as well, with its bevy of attachment rails and three different sets of optics it can fit into a lot of roles
WEAKNESSES
  • Ammunition Capacity: No matter how good one can make a slugthrower they always fall prey to the same weakness, they have significantly less ammunition capacity than their contemporary blasters
  • Versatile but not Specialized: While the rifle is good at performing a wide variety of roles it does not excel in any of these roles where a different rifle might
DESCRIPTION
Once again looking to revamp his armory Noah began working developing a rifle that he could use to fit a wide variety of roles. This led him into the past actually to a type of rifle he had used during his time in the Republic Army, a Recce Rifle. In essence a 'Recce Rifle' is a normal combat rifle issued that has been taken and modified and accurized by its user so it can be used as both a precision rifle and a, relatively, run of the mill combat rifle without swapping any components or mechanisms.

Noah was by no means the creator of this concept but he adopted it during his time in the Commandos and introduced it to many other officers who began implementing it as well. In those years there were not a lot of options when it came to slugthrower modifications and the like so many of the operators had to use their own technical and mechanical expertise to construct these rifles, thankfully with Noah's expertise and his upbringing his own team ended up being very well equipped with some high grade rifles.

It was with this experience in both usage and construction of these weapons that Noah began building his own. As with all the weapons Noah constructed he began by choosing the materials, deciding on focusing on each aspect of weapon at one time. The first aspect was of course the weapon itself of course.

For the receiver, handguard and internal mechanisms Noah used a variant of the Titanium-Alusteel Alloy, replacing the Alusteel with Beskar for a more Mandalorian vibe, as well as making the alloy twice as strong for the same weight. The barrel was made out of Beskar to add weight to it to reduce muzzle climb and for the Mandalorian vibe as well. He lined the barrel with Chromium to reduce the amount of wear and tear from repeated use. He used Gammaplast for the furniture instead of the usual Plastoid due to its stronger construction yet lighter weight. Lastly he gave the entire rifle a plating of CeramiCoat to increase its durability externally.

With the materials chosen he began work on selecting what he would use as a basis for his rifle. Looking through the rather vast quantities of weapons on the market Noah of course came to the conclusion that the basis of his new rifle would be something close to home, the LCAR-01 and LSDMR-01 used by the Legion. Mixing the best of both worlds on these two weapons, the versatility of LCAR and the accuracy of the LSDMR.

With the basic materials and design chosen Noah next worked on deciding what caliber to chamber the rifle in. In the beginning Noah gave thought to keep the rifle chambered in the 6.8x49mm cartridge that its predecessors were chambered in however he recognized that said cartridge might not be the best for the rifle. Looking for other cartridges Noah found that the 7.62x35mm cartridge, one he had utilized before, had good ballistics, force and operating perfectly when suppressed and with this in mind he modified his designs to make it chambered in this caliber.

With all the basics out of the way Noah began working on what features would go into the rifle to enhance it even further. A full set of ambidextrous and extended controls allows them to be operated comfortably with either hand or when being used with heavy gloves or armor, respectively. A textured pistol grip allows for a more firm hold on it while firing. A flared magazine well facilitates smoother and therefore faster reloads. A telescoping stock makes it easier to transport and use in close quarters. A two-stage trigger allows for more predictable firing which in turn makes for more predictable accuracy of the rifle.

An adjustable short stroke gas piston allows for the rifles gas system to be tailored to the environment it is in and if it is suppressed or not. A double advanced recoil buffer system in the rifle helps mitigate and control the rifles recoil. Pillar bedding of the action to the barrel of the rifle prevents flexing while firing and therefore makes it much more accurate. A 36.85cm barrel was chosen as it perfectly rides the line between being a good barrel for both close quarters, not being too long, while still providing good ballistic qualities.

A free floating heavy barrel helps produce better barrel harmonics which in turn act less on the bullet being fired and produces better accuracy. A 1 in 7 twist rate was chosen for the barrel as it is the optimal twist rate for the barrel length and caliber to achieve maximum bullet stabilization. Secure and water tight storage compartments, two in the stock, one in the pistol grip and one in the foregrip, allow for storage of spare parts and the like in quick to reach places.

When it came to the accessories to put on the rifle Noah decided to create each one of them by hand just like he had with the rifle itself. He started first with the optics for the vehicle, deciding on a 2-8x variable scope for the main optic and a canted micro red dot for the back up, with the scope including a finely detailed and illuminated reticle and quick adjust knobs while the red dot is canted to the left so when used shells eject downwards instead of up.

The housing of the optics are created from the same Beskar-Titanium Alloy for durability yet light weight as the rifle. The lenses inside them were made from Plexalloy to give them the most durability as possible. The internal workings consists of the typical electrical components you would find in a highly quality electrical device. Lastly both of them were coated in a healthy amount of CeramiCoat to avoid external damage.

Next he began work on a foregrip for the rifle. He decided to go with an angled foregrip design versus a vertical one because it is better for maneuvering between targets, doesn't protrude as much and is versatile for shooting position. He created the foregrip out of Gammaplast by thermoforming, making sure to check for any imperfections and after a few he finally crafted a perfect one. With it finished he plated it in CeramiCoat to prevent external damage.

After that he began work on creating a laser and light combo that he could use for a variety of situations. The device consists of a tactical flashlight, both visible and infrared, and a laser, again both visible and infrared. The brightness of the light and laser can be adjusted by a simple knob on the device. It is constructed out of Gammaplast for the housing, the same type of electrical components as the optics for the internal mechanisms and lastly is plated in CeramiCoat to prevent external damage.

Next he decided on making a custom bipod for the weapon as well for situations when the weapon needs extra stability. He made the bipod out of the same material as the optics and rifle, a Beskar-Titanium alloy for its durability and light weight and then plated it in CeramiCoat to prevent as much wear and tear as possible.

A custom muzzle brake and quick detach suppressor mount was next on the list, with it helping mitigate recoil and making it quicker to attach a suppressor, respectively. Noah constructed the device out Dallorian Alloy since it was expected to be experiencing a lot of heat and Dallorian Alloy being known to be particularly resistant to heat.

A suppressor was the next obvious choice for the rifle as to make it able to be quiet when the need arises. Like the muzzle brake Noah made the suppressor out of Dallorian Alloy as it was expected to be under a lot of heat when in continuous use and especially during automatic fire. Of course he finished the suppressor up by giving it a healthy plating of CeramiCoat.

Next Noah decided on creating entirely custom and new magazines for the rifle to match the build quality of the weapon itself. He created the housing of the magazines Plexalloy so he could easily look and see how much ammunition was left, while also not compromising the integrity of the magazines. The followers were made out of Gammaplast to retain strength without increasing weight and the springs were made out of Titanium-Alusteel Alloy for the same reason.

Lastly Noah created a spare magazine holder for the rifle, a device situated right next to the magazine well that holds a spare magazine to facilitate faster on the spot reloads.

With the first rifle constructed Noah put it through its paces, everything from excessive amounts of rounds through it to mud, sand and water tests. Once everything was adjusted to his liking and the rifle functioned perfectly Noah made several copies of the rifle, some of them spray painted in different camouflage patterns and others as spares which completed his project.
