DESCRIPTION
With the Legion's standard riflemen equipped with their new sidearm and service rifle the Legion's armorers began looking at the weapons of the more niche roles of the organizations Rifle Squad. The first role they took a look at was the squads designated marksmen who had originally been equipped with Hekler'Kok's BR-01, an larger version of the AR-01 chambered in 7.62x51mm. As with the other weapons they designed the armorers started by interviewing the Legionnaires who used the weapon to get their opinions on what worked and didn't work.

It quickly became clear that many of them were not exactly fans of the BR-01 for a variety of reasons. Two of the biggest reasons given were the lack of ammo commonality, as almost the whole rest of the squads weapons used a different caliber, the weight of the rifle, as it was significantly heavier than most of the other weapons in the squad. Many of the interviewee's actually brought to the interviews some LCAR Mk I they had taken and adapted to better suit the role of a marksman rifle.

With the interviews concluded the Legion armorers began to conduct tests and studies on various rifles, including the BR-01, a modified BR-01 and some of the modified LCAR Mk I's that Legionnaires had provided. After a long and arduous testing process the armorers were surprised when the modified rifles provided by the Legionnaires came out on top as the best of the rifles.

With a basic vision of the new rifle provided by these hodgepodge of donated rifle the armors began to pick and choose the best features of them and culminate them into a highly effective designated marksmen rifle. They first needed to decide on the materials they would be using in the rifle and for this they stuck with the old adage of 'If it isn't broke, don't fix it' and kept all the same materials as the LCAR.

When it came to features many of them were the same as the LCAR, as the armorers had basically re-used the lower receiver and had just re-engineered the upper receiver, one new feature to the lower receiver however was the removal of the collapsing stock and its replacement with a solid stock. A adjustable cheek rest was added to the stock to give the shooter a comfortable shooting position. A heavy recoil pad reduces the amount of felt recoil. The replacement of the stock was necessary as the one the upgrades was a new advanced recoil buffer that gave the rifle almost zero felt recoil.

The upper receiver was where most of the upgrading occurred for the rifle. While the same heavy barrel was retained it was now free floated and pillar bedded to help increase the accuracy of the rifle. Another upgrade to the barrel was adjusting the twist rate from 1 in 7 to 1 in 8 to increase muzzle velocity and therefore range.

With the upgrades to the rifle complete it was finally time to begin field trialing the weapon. Just like with the other two weapons the first production batch of them were shipped to the Legion's first regiment. When the testing period was complete and follow-up interviews were conducted many of the Legionnaires lauded praises onto the rifle saying it was one of the most accurate rifles they'd ever used. With this approval from them, and approval from higher ups in the Legion, the LSDMR Mk I was officially named and deployed to the rest of the Legion.
