No Ridiculous Anime Characters

I've got no problem with anime playby's in general. If someone wants to use an anime avatar, go for it.

My problem is with people who use sexualised, and underage, anime girls as a playby. It's disgusting.

But Felacation's aren't Neko. Literally Google image search comes up with this:

I think people are getting caught up on my disdain for anime avatars more than the actual thing I'm discussing. I just want to clarify that I do like anime avatars if they are done well. [member="Ryn'Dhal"] Is a prime example.

Alas, as the holiday seasons have come and gone, I need to go see about getting my original avatar (cropped and bordered) and put back into place.

It's easier to convince my character is shrouded and masked when the actual avatar is as such.

The display pictures are acceptable right? it's just a representation of the character at hand, a different drawing style.

What's ridiculous is calling your private thread the name of anime which your character is obviously completely ripped on a star wars board.

Rules aren't there exclusively to stop abuse, that's a nice benefit of some rules. Rules exist to maintain integrity and order to a system and I feel the value of my time on the board is lessened from people who want to create a rendition of One-punch man in the canon.

If my intention was to write my own personal story where it wouldn't be affected by other people I'd write a novel in microsoft word and send it to a friend if I wanted to co-operatively write it, but it isn't. If the vision of these forums really was "ayy do whatever you want, knock yourself out" then Factory wouldn't exist, we wouldn't moderate peoples creations or the idea of someone starting a 0 post char with a fleet of 100 imperial destroyers.

These people don't affect the integrity of the universes persistence to that degree but eventually in the universe there will be death stars floating around called "Exodia's Left Arm"

Personally I don't mind anime avatars, the only thing I dislike is when people steal a character. It doesn't matter if that is Anime or some live action. Examples are the people who I have seen completely rip a character from GoT or any number of series and copy-paste said character. That is annoying.

But your character is not moderately dressed. Stockings and garter, with a nightgown that would have trouble reaching past the upper thighs. One does not need to be busty to be sexualised. If you saw a woman wearing the same outfit in public she would not be considered moderately dressed. Though, personally, I'm not complaining or attacking you, I'm just playing devils advocate.

It's open to interpretation. Your avatar is kneeling on the ground in a supplicating position and dressed like a Victoria Secret's model. There is a child-like quality to the face and body. Does it make me uncomfortable? Not really, I'm pretty tolerant.

But it seems like you are ignoring the #facts here that this avatar is hyper-sexualized.

I feel like this is being blown massively out of proportions.

We have people RPing strippers, prostitutes and LITERAL Pornstars, and yet if people are using anime-style avatars, that aren't even all that bad, thats ban worthy?

I am not the owner of the thread, nor suggested a ban. I'm just pointing out that some most would interpret your avatar as hyper-sexualized.

I'm pretty new here... but you might want to take a look at your own signature when you say something is "hyper sexualized" lmao.
Not that I believe that the neko girl isn't scantily clad. It just looks a little bit hypocritical from my position....

I don't think it's calling for a ban.. now that is extreme and blowing it out of the water.

Star Wars, while not the most realistic setting, has a theme, a vibe, like every story. That vibe can become disturbed and the immersion shattered when a, for lack of a better word, ridiculous anime character is strolling around among a crowd of those who suit the theme. It can be irritating, and I know the feeling of irritation. As writers and readers we imagine the world, but how does an anime character fit into that world? when the world we imagine is not anime.

The rules stated in the original post had nothing to do with sexualisation (even though there's pg-13 rule but it seems pretty obvious the community has an average age of at LEAST 16). I'm not sure why sexualisation is what's being focused on.

Characters in this board are meant to be believable in the context of this universe, a twi'lek stripper who doubles as a republic informant (or not) makes sense. The idea that the jedi order would have a cat/person who thinks they're a domesticated house pet as a padawan doesn't make sense unless you were in an anime, in that case an Anime board would be great for the character!

But we're alot of the time not writing them as anime characteres. You're welcome to read my threads, I feel like I use lizzy quite well.

Also I may be wrong but are you using Dota2's Juggernaut as your pic?

I never claimed my signature wasn't provocative, nor was I being hypocritical.

If you read my posts I was just providing a counter-point to the argument. I also said that her avatar didn't personally offend me.

As I see it this isn't about hyper sexualizing anime characters in your avatar.

It's about hyper sexualizing characters that, at least, look like they are minors. Elizabeth looks like she is twelve, while wearing Victoria Secret lingerie. Azurea is clearly not twelve.

Nail on the head, m8

It's easy to assume something about a character from their picture, or reading a few lines of their rp. But that doesn't mean you fully understand them. You have to follow every move they make. Its far too easy to judge someone based on a quick snippet of their apperance.

If we look at this from a reasonable pov, this IS discrimination, and should be handle on a case per case basis, not just written off as a group of deviant causing trouble.

I am calling for a blanket ban on characters that purely exist to satisfy the writer's desire to import anime into SW.
It is explicitly calling for a ban.

Guess it's time to change the avatars for my main characters, who are both from anime, and are thus trying to import it into Star Wars. This is especially heinous because Star Wars, as a rule, does not have "power levels" or magic spirit used by training yourself constantly in private enclaves far from the rest of the world. There are absolutely no giant space fights that completely ignore the rules of actual space or hordes of pretty humans and extremely humanoid aliens running around accomplishing 99% of everything that actually happens in the galaxy.
