ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Extreme Speed - "The Red Night" has had its stock engines replaced entirely with new ion engines capable of propelling it at much faster speeds, with little to no acceleration time.
  • Maneuverability - The ships modified engines also greatly increase its maneuverability in both a vacuum, and in atmospheric conditions.
  • Upgraded Hyperdrive - VCX-100 Light Freighters usually come equipped with a Class 2 hyperdrive. Gatz has upgraded to a Class 1.
  • Astromech Pilot - Though Gatz prefers to helm his own ship, it's capable of being piloted by an astromech alone, thanks to the cockpit astromech socket he had installed.
WEAKNESSES
  • Because of its overreliance on electronic subsystems, "The Red Night" is highly susceptible to ion weapons. One or two blasts from an ion cannon can shut this ship down, and render it a floating brick, provided that its shields were down when hit.
  • Due to it's numerous advanced components, "The Red Night" is prone to overdrawing its generator, and causing ship-wide power and electrical issues. To counteract this, Gatz usually must shut off some systems to ensure that other systems can be powered without overdrawing the generator.
  • "The Red Night" no longer possesses its stock auxiliary starfighter. The space that the shuttle once occupied is now occupied by one of the aftermarket engines Gatz had installed.
DESCRIPTION
A VCX-100 Light Freighter that was originally owned by Gatz Derrevar's father, which has been heavily modified in the few years that Gatz himself had owned it.

When Gatz became the captain of "The Red Night," he quickly found that hauling regular freight wasn't nearly as lucrative as hauling illegal cargo. Over the last few years, the young smuggler has made a number of modifications to the ship's original design, in order to better facilitate the delivery of illicit goods. One such change includes a number of hidden compartments in which to hide things like spice, as well as weapons in the event that he gets boarded and needs them. He's also heavily overhauled his communications system and his scanning and jamming systems, to better help himself avoid being flagged by local law enforcement the moment he enters a sector.

In the event that he is discovered to be transporting contraband, the aftermarket engines are usually powerful enough for him to escape his trackers, and if they aren't, then the Class 1 hyperdrive most certainly is. But if the worst comes to pass, and a fight breaks out, Gatz has upgraded "The Red Night's" onboard weaponry to pack a better punch. He's also purchased not one, but two aftermarket shield generators so that ship can take a hit and not break apart.

All that being said, the ship's generators aren't exactly up to the task of powering all these aftermarket modifications at once, and Gatz usually has to shut one system down to power another. If he doesn't, well, then the electronic subsystems start to go a little haywire. Or the ship just outright shuts down.
