Serrin snuck out of the Coven housing. There was cots in her room, sisters fast asleep or in a magick meditative state. Grabbing an onyx colored bag, and laying a scroll on the scarlet red sheets of her bed, she headed into the hall. A Night Mother was patrolling, levitating a emerald green ember for light, Serrin dashed around a corner as the wood floor boards creaked. Once the motion ended, she headed outside where the gnarled hut roofs looked like brooms.
Time was of the essence, the transport at the far side of Dathomir had been granted passage to the surface due to cargo that was valuable to the Night Mother, all assorted of disgusting vials and phials of roots, fluids, and powders. Serrin was never one for studying the apothecary arts.
As she made it to the transport, she saw the great silver cargo ship loading some infant Rancors, the price no doubt for the supplies. Serrin waited for her moment, to run up tue ramp and be home free, when she felt a tug at her bag.
“Where are you going?”
The voice made Serrin grow cold. She turned to see a Nightsister.
“Of course Nivena,” thought Serrin.
No matter how hard she tried she could not shake her, Nivena always seemed to read her thoughts.
“You know why..” replied Serrin.
Nivena gave a cold smork with her black rose lips.
“If you leave you will become an exile.”
Serrin scoffed and crossed her arms.
“I don’t care! I want to see the galaxy! Not be trapped her until I’m ugly and old like the Mother Superior!”
Niva shook her long silver hair which fell to he lower back.
“You are in one of your moods, reasoning with you is futile.”
Serrin sighed.
“I have to do this.. can’t you understand?”
Nivena nodded.
“We must all follow our own path. Yours it seems will take you to places beyond Dathomir.”
Nivena approached Serrin and placed her hand under her chin, like a towering sister she pressed the Young Nightsister to her.
“May The Spirit Ichor protect you.”
Serrin smiled and being released took her bag and ran up the ramp, halfway up she looked back to her Big Sister and there was only puff of emerald smoke. Serrin shed a tear and boarded as the engines primed and the ramp rose up and closed.
Inside Serrin sound crates of all sizes, a cage of two Rancors that snapped their tiny mouths, and some boxes that made a pyramid. Positioning herseld behind the boxes Serrin pulled her scarlet hood over her face to hide the dried tears that marked her face, creating crosses when combined with her tattoos.
Serrin was excited, but now as she was really leaving Dathomir she felt homesick. What a drag that already she was missing home.
As the ship left the vermillion sky, and waded in the shaols of shadow and stars, the hyperdrive came online and the jump jolted the titan vessel and was in the stream of light.
Serrin was curled up against a box, her cloak acting as a blanket when she heard a stir and then a box fell from atop. Standing up she looked and then there was something dashing past.
Uneasy she said aloud, “Show yoursslf!”
With snap of her gray and ash fingers an ember of Ichor appeared. Serrin followed the sound till she came across a bigger box that shook, one side of it opened so that four corners stuck out. Bending down with her ember to light the inside she saw a frightened little girl. Instead of hair she had two tentacle like lekku, and two grest big eyes with a blue that was as bright as topaz. She looked about ten, and her skin was yellow and her clothes tattered brown garments, one a ratted cloak.
“Hey.. hey there, don’t be afraid. I won’t hurt you.”
The Little Twi’lek shook all over, and buried those big eyes in her chest. Serrin placed her hand om her shoulder.
“It’s gonna be ok. What’s your name?”
The Little Girl peeked up and said in a shy and soft voice, “Tara..”
Serrin smiled, and sat beside the little girl who instinctively leaned against the The Nighsister.
“I get scared sometimes too. But my Big Sis taught me to sing when I am afraid. You want me to sing something?”
Lara nodded as she laid her head on Serrin’s lap.
“Dath-o-Mir, My only home! Always near, I will never fear long as I hold you dear. The smoke will clear, the light appears, long as I - hold you dear, Dath-o-mir..”
Lara drifted asleep at the song, and Serrin shed more tears. Niw that she was on an adventure far from home, she realized how much she cared about Dathomir.
The Nightsister drifted off asleep, what night jinks awaited who knew, what Serrin was sure of, is that no matter what she was a Nightsister of Dathomir.
