SETTING INFORMATION

  • Affiliation: Clan Gred, Clan Krayt, Mandalorians
  • Population: Moderate
  • Demographics: Wide range of species with roughly 75% being Mandalorian, and another 20% being refugees.
  • Wealth: Medium (Being a farming settlement in a new age for Mandalorians, New Dawn is often selling goods as export. Along with helping to service the Artemis shipyard, which provides a lot of industrial credits to the system.)
  • Stability: Medium (The town is mostly stable, but wild animals and the occasional Death Watch hold outs can make it somewhat dangerous. They rarely get into the town though.)
  • Freedom & Oppression: Like other Mandalorian settlements, there are few laws that mostly extent to horrible crimes. In most cases though, the people in the town self police.
  • Description: A rural town that some might think is a makeshift starport, New Dawn is a farming town that was quickly set up using many of the ships that were either taken from slavers or purchased during the time between the Invasion and reclamation of Mandalore and Concord Dawn. Built on 300 hectares (~741 acres), the town's many starship and simple buildings give it a somewhat thrown together feel. Ships are being moved almost weekly though as real buildings replace them. The town has now become a home for both Clan Gred and Clan Krayt.

Star Phoenix's Core Ship: One of the odder sighted of New Dawn, the Core Ship of a Lucrehulk named Star Phoenix sits near the center of New Dawn, and has served as a major storage and living area early on in the town's creation. This also gives the town and uplink to the Star Phoenix's ring section, and it's AI, Ash.

Farming fields: Around the outside of the town, rings of fields serve as one of the major areas where people work, and provides a large part of the towns economy. These farms use some modified T-1 Sluggers that have been turned harvester, and mostly grow food.

Watchpost Elco: A YV-865 freighter turned law enforcement center, Watchpost Elco has been modified with an armory and some bunks while keeping some of it's old cells. The former slaver ship is now used by the marshal and deputies of New Dawn, and is positioned next to the landing area of the town to allow an easy look at anyone who comes to trade. The Marshal is a smuggler turned Mando who worked with the Tunnel Strill. The Watchpost can be used to chase down some ships as well.

Landing Zone: Outside the city, the landing zone is the primary arrival and departure point of the town, and can land most light freighters.

Residents: The residential areas are a mix of small houses and starships, this is where the majority of people, whether Mandalorian or refugee, live. This has slowly replaced the Core Ship, and will fully take over it's living duties in time.

Training Grounds: A rough training area built out in the fields, this area is used for various forms of training, ranging from combat, survival, and Force training.

Animal Barns: Used to house a wide variety of animals, both native and non-native species.

Shops: Some shops have sprung up around the town, providing food, weapons, trade, and much more.

Forge: A new forge built near the Core Ship that is used in the creation of weapons, armor, and more ornate metal work.

Medical Center: Built from an older Tal-Type, the medical center is used to treat those in New Dawn.

: The large number of Mandalorians, many of which have had to fight just to survive, should explain the high level of security.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Created after a meeting between Mig and Kreslin Westwind Kreslin Westwind , the town of New Dawn was built on 300 hectares of land on the world of Concord Dawn, with the condition that the town would be open to all Mandalorians. An easy decision to make, Clan Gred would quickly return to their homeworld and begin to work. Taking advantage of their scrapped together fleet, the clan would turn the ships into the makings of a new town.

Most importantly, a forge, landing area, and more houses were built, as well as farming fields and a training area outside the town. While a medical center was considered, the Tal-type they were using served well enough for the time. Soon, another clan would come to call the growing town as well, Clan Krayt. The two clans have begun to work together to make the smaller town better for anyone that wants to come and live there.
