Kira turned her muted expression to Dominique as though she were recalling breakfast.

"Aside from Vyres, nothing unexpected. All failed within expected parameters." A clawed hand sliding to her ribs with a tiny smile. "Abrantes claims most damage inflicted. But you fundamentally failed."

Her hands moved in front of her once more as she let habit take the forefront over how she was feeling.

"Blunt force trauma was common. Improvised weapons. Running. Pleading. Bargaining. Attempted negotiation. Not unlike home." A fact that was both welcome and unsatisfactory.

Even nobles had trouble seeing the forest for the trees it seemed. And a cushy life had spoiled them into believing they were untouchable or had the means to convince someone to do a they wanted.

With Kira as the reminder of otherwise.

Sibylla's question however reminded her of something else. A sadness creeping into her features.

"Sibylla. I used my everyday claws. Not my fighting claws." Her eyes locking directly with the Voice.

A hand outstretched now to showcase her point. Metal polished but worn. Nicks and gouges that were not marks of fighting, but of accidents and expected wear and tear.

"I did not expect warriors. But I fought as though inebriated. My instructions were to become acquainted with you all." A small bow of her head following protocols that she had studied. "I was not instructed to do what I did. That was my decision. One I wanted to explain and apologize for."

The shame returning to replace sadness as she sighed.

"Seeing your reaction to me. I see it is not that simple."

Kito's attention bounced between Reina, Valaine, and the food. It was small, but her focus always lingered a little longer on Valaine as the Sangnir spoke. She was smooth, convincing the other Jedi that she belonged here, which was good. Kito knew there were strong people around them, but part of her was confident she could take on the whole room if she had to… of course, with Valaine in one piece too.

When Valaine raised their hands, Kito nodded along automatically, agreeing with whatever she said. Valaine could have called them anything, and she would've backed her up. The phrase gal pals stuck out, though. Kito had never heard it before, but since Valaine said it, she figured it had to be right.

The pair then discussed clothing, something that Kito still didn't fully understand. She was reminded that the destruction of clothing was a tactic used as a threat in combat. A unique and unconventional tactic.

But Reina's comment about not having friends hit harder. It reminded Kito of herself among the Jedi, how often she stood alone. She didn't want Reina to feel that.

"Yes, you do," Kito said bluntly, smiling with her usual crooked grin. "You have Valaine and me now."

Reina mentioned the food, and Kito nodded eagerly. "We were just going over there when you walked up. It smells amazing."

Pausing, Kito realized her focus on the food may have come across not as the invitation that she had intended. "You can come too — no need to ask."

She kept Valaine's hand laced with hers as they moved toward the food, hoping Reina would follow. Curiosity tugged at her about how the two of them knew each other, but she stopped herself. If she asked, Reina might ask how they met. The thought made Kito's ears and cheeks burn, so she picked up her pace a little, pretending she just wanted to get to the food first.

"Do you wear a lot of capes?" Kito asked suddenly, glancing at Reina. The blunt question tumbled out before either of them could steer the conversation anywhere more dangerous.

Dominique quietly listened as Kira regaled the women were her efforts and the fruit of her labor. They still had a ways to go, hadn't they? Not with testing the security. With Kira. It wasn't altogether what she said, but how she said it. There were ways to let the nobility know they'd failed without rubbing it in their face. Admittedly, sometimes such subtly left them not hearing the lesson to be learned and it wasn't as emotionally satisfying as smacking them in the face, but proper decorum should be followed. At least among friends.

At least Kira recognized she'd made a mistake. The only question left was whether she too would learn the correct lessons.

Golden eyes shifted back to Sibylla once the report was simply slammed down on the proverbial table for all to hear. "Yes." Much as it pained Dominique to say it so bluntly, the young woman had pointedly asked for clarity. Kira had seemingly thought to blunt the social damage by saying she'd taken the initiative, but that was neither here nor there. Things were what they were. "To evaluate the state of security. I realize few people would avail themselves to the security Directors, at times, surround themselves with," Dominique admitted, "but there is a place between ceremonial and unassailable I feel our most important persons should find. For their sake. For their people's sake. And despite all the hope about the Assembly seeing sense, none of them were going to volunteer."

"Kira,"
Dominique addressed her cybernetic agent, "you performed admirably, but you must spend more time understanding what it means to become 'acquainted with' people. Outside of the euphemism elements back home mean when they say that."

Dominique held out a hand toward Sibylla. "Your safety is important to me, Sibylla. You've risen so high in society there are enemies within and without. Together we can build a prosperous Republic for all our people. If we lost you," she trailed off, not elaborating on who 'we' referred to.

Valaine offered Reina a soft smile when it seemed like she was going to allow her presence at the gala tp remain a mystery. She tilted her head curiously at her, "Oh, more fishing huh? Maybe I should come along again, try not to snap the line this time or something..." she gave a light huff of amusement at the memory. "But it's probably good that you came here right? It means you've made some progress since that day. Seem to have the voice under more control too, right?" she asked curiously.

A soft hum was offered at the mention of hearing someone helped Reina with her dress. "Ahh... Both you and Kito had help with your outfits huh? And here's me, trying to figure it out myself..." she offered a coy sigh as she brushed a hand through her dark hair. Valaine had a little makeup on, but not much. "Seems we're all at least in the same boat when it comes to not knowing much about fashion though."

She gestured for Reina to follow as Kito started to lead them towards the direction of the food, the Sangnir keeping the Shaper's hand clasped in her own though making it seem rather more casual than anything else. As they walked she continued to talk, "Oh uh, Kito what kinda food do you even like...?" she asked, she had spent quite a bit of time with Kito already but sometimes she realized just how little she actually knew about her. "Also, Reina, if you're going anywhere in the future and want to bring someone along, feel free to reach out. Any excuse for me to get off that rock." she spoke as she glanced to the redhead. Malachor V wasn't named directly, but Kito would sure know what planet she was referring to.

Upon reaching where the scent of food was coming from the Sangnir's tired eyes gazed down to a buffet table holding various delicacies she couldn't even name, and for a moment she was rather paralyzed with choice. She could just take whatever she wanted? "Oh... This is a lot, how would I know what even tastes good...?" she commented idly to herself.

Sibylla had fundamentally failed.

It wasn't the answer she wanted to hear, but it was the one she needed. She drew a breath, steadying her shoulders, forcing her expression into calm even as Kira's tone and body language tangled her in guilt. The way the shorter woman spoke, the way her hands fidgeted, the sadness in her eyes -- it didn't read like a predator. It read like someone who had disappointed themselves. Shiraya, it felt less like facing an assassin and more like scolding a child.

Her lips pressed thin, but she nodded to both women. She understood. Dominique's commentary had been sharp but honest, and Kira's confession about her everyday claws only made it clearer. Sibylla had not been faced with her full strength, and that truth stung worse than the words.

"Alright," she replied, taking a deep breath as the politician in her did her best to review what had been presented and think over it logically.

"I can see that you were worried for my safety, Dominique. And I thank you for wanting to be proactive. Regardless of execution, the fact remains that someone was able to slip past the additional guards into my chambers. Without the shield, had their intent truly been to end my life, I would not have fared well at all."

Her hazel eyes shifted back to Kira, softer this time.

"I understand you did your best not to truly place me into danger; however, slipping into my home without my knowledge, without even knowing it was a test… it is a serious breach. In any other situation, it would have been seen as aggression. And with the state of our Houses, with Black Sun stirring in the shadows, that is no small thing."

She exhaled, weary inside, though her face betrayed nothing. Aurelian would need to know of this. He wouldn't take it well. He would bristle at the breach, at the risk. And it would almost certainly mean more guards, more oversight, another cage of well-meaning protection tightening around her. The thought alone made her want to sigh.

All it did was make it all too clear; she could not rely only on walls of guards, she had to be able to defend herself.

Sibylla drew another breath, then turned to Dominique, her tone firm but respectful.

"I will need to disclose this to Aurelian. Not only because of the breach, but because other senators were involved. He has a right to know." Her brow furrowed, then eased as her attention shifted back to Kira.

"But… perhaps this does not need to end here." She murmured, almost tentative as a plan began to form. She was problem-solving.

"What if we used this? If Kira were given clearance to test our security with proper rules and oversight, she might expose weaknesses that our guards cannot see. Aurelian should be part of that conversation. And if we are pushing for increased defense, the clone and droid army, the increase in military assets, then we should not ignore the threats that lurk in the underworld."

Her gaze swung back to Dominique, earnest now.

"Your knowledge, Dominique, your expertise in those shadows, could give us the advantage we need. I imagine that Black Sun and their cohort would stoop to use such methods and we cannot afford to remain blind to them."

And while SIbylla disliked being made one of the test subjects, the results spoke by themselves.

"If this test taught me anything, it is that we are not untouchable. But we can be better prepared."

The redhead seemed caught off guard by Kito's statement. The fact that she was so willing to class Reina was a friend already. She was used to people being off put by how blunt or stubborn she could be...but then again, she hadn't shown that side of herself to Kito yet. Maybe things would change. But Reina decided it was best not to focus on that. Don't focus on what could go wrong and instead focus on what was going right. She had more friends. Sure...One was a bloodsucker that worked with someone who traumatised Reina and the other one was...well, Reina didn't know what Kito was like, but they were still friends.

"Hm? Yeah. I've been working on my voice. Getting a better control of it. There's been a few times my training's caused me to end up hurting myself...but that's life...and hey, both of you can come fishing with me some day."

At that, Reina rubbed her fingers against her throat for a moment, indirectly bringing attention to her gills. It wasn't something she felt as self conscious about anymore. It was a part of her. Same as the Force. Same as her hair. There was nothing wrong with it at the end of the day. Her gaze flickered over towards Valaine for a moment, taking in the Acolyte's outfit for a moment before she gave a small shrug.

"You seem pretty figured out. I think you look pretty good. You've at least made an effort with the makeup. I didn't really...touch the stuff. Not sure what kind of products work on Ersansyr skin anyway."

With that being said, Reina then brought her attention over towards Kito's question about the cloak...well cape. With the redhead giving a short shake of her head.

"Today's a first. I'm not really big on formal outfits. I feel more secure in armour. Valaine can tell you, she's seen me in some before."

Reina jabbed her thumb over towards Valaine, leaving out a few important parts of that story. Because ultimately to Reina, it wasn't important. It was done. Dusted. They were still friends at the end of the day, no matter what fights they had been through. It did make Reina squint at Valaine ever so slightly when the Acolyte offered to go with Reina to a place if she needed someone.

"I'd say yes...but we both know that the people I'm with...might not entirely approve of it...but then again, when did I care about their approval?"

A lot. She cared about the other Jedi's approval a lot. But at the same time, she cared for her friends more. Loyalty was a fatal flaw of Reina's. It was one that she didn't even realise was a flaw herself.

"A Dramatic Force-Blessed Myth"
That his own name wasn't one of note was something of a surprise to the Zorren. Then again, his time of fame had been some time ago, likely when the new king had been a twinkle in his grandfather's eye. Such was the price of living for as long as he had. His accomplishments would become history, and with a galaxy as vast as this, even his most impressive achievements would be lost to time, unburied only but the most dedicated or niche of historians. All the more reason for him to step forth and make new legends in the modern era. "Vulpesen Torrevaso," he began simply, inclining his head in a simple nod to the monarch, "Valde of Veradune."

He was a man burdened by a myriad of titles, but Lucas had taught him that in most situations, one would suffice. Sitting in a room filled with diplomats and dignitaries, he figured it would be best to identify himself as a fellow ruler as he spoke with the Naboo King. "And I appreciate the keen observation. To say I'm lucky, I believe, might be an understatement." His chest puffed slightly and his tail swayed behind him. True, he held little more than the aforementioned arm, but time was a wheel, and on his side. He would be patient. And no matter who held Ra's hand and heart, she would always be able to count on his devotion. "Perhaps you would indulge me a bit of a question. What are you hoping for your reign to look like?"

Ra'a'mah Ra'a'mah Aurelian Veruna Aurelian Veruna

As he watched her, he noticed that she was open, but kept her thoughts and emotions close. Only somebody who knew her might see what she kept hidden. The young man might be more in tune with her than she expected, but most people only saw what she wanted them to.

His welcome was acceptable, and she nodded at his unspoken question about her work.

"Yes, they are doing quite well. Thank you. I can always use more connections, though. If you have any suggestions, I'd be more than happy to consider them."

Anything coming from the new king was sure to be of interest to her movement. Her gentle probing wasn't entirely out of line, and it was a step in a direction Ra never thought she would be making. In business, her name and face were known but not within governmental movements. That had been a lifetime ago, and now she was doing it again.

When he turned his attention to Vulps, she allowed him to introduce himself. They weren't married, but he was her longest friend and could have been more. Tine was on their side, though, and she would honor her marriage vows.

The question Vulps asked was an important one, and she looked to Aurelian for his answer.

Aurelian assessed Vulpesen and Ra'a'mah with the same sharp focus he'd display on the dance floor. He noticed the subtle cues: Vulpesen's composed posture, Ra'a'mah's measured gaze, and the way they carried themselves not as supplicants, but as individuals with a rightful place in the opulent hall. This quiet confidence piqued his interest.

When Ra spoke of her endeavors, Aurelian offered a slight bow, a hint of approval in his amber eyes. "Have you considered speaking with Dominique of Denon?" he inquired, his voice a blend of charm and authority. "She's a force in the Mid Rim, a woman whose influence you wouldn't want to overlook. She could be a powerful ally for anyone with an eye toward the future." A subtle smile touched his lips; he didn't recommend her lightly.

His attention then shifted entirely to Vulpesen. When Vulpesen posed his question, the king's smile shifted, shedding its performative aspect for genuine warmth.

"My ambition is quite straightforward," Aurelian stated, his conviction lending weight to the words. He clasped his hands behind his back, standing tall as the grand chandeliers overhead caught the sheen of his silk attire. "I wish for Naboo to reclaim its prominence within the galaxy during my reign. I admit my bias, but I truly believe this is the finest place to establish oneself; for our people, our arts, our culture." His gaze briefly swept across the glittering assembly, the hushed conversations and lingering music filling the marble hall. "Naboo deserves to be recognized not merely as a jewel of the Mid Rim, but as a shining example for the Republic and beyond."

His focus returned to Vulpesen, his expression sharpened by purpose yet softened by a rare sincerity. "If, when all is said and done, I can leave Naboo stronger and more prosperous for its people than I found it, then I will consider my reign a success, regardless of its length. True legacy isn't always etched in stone. Sometimes, it's measured by the enduring strength you leave behind for your home."

Aurelian let his words settle, the ambition underlying them tinged with an unexpected earnestness. Then, as if sensing he had revealed a touch too much, a familiar spark of mischief returned to his eyes.

"Of course," he added, his tone lightening considerably, "a few grand monuments never hurt, either."

"A Dramatic Force-Blessed Myth"
One of Vulpesen's ears flicked at the mention of a person worth meeting. Times were changing and he could no longer afford to sit in the background. Ra'a'mah Ra'a'mah was not the only one on the lookout for new allies or business partners. The king's answer to his own question, however, was far more captivating. Ambition. But not just for himself, but also the planet in its entirety. It was something he could sympathize with. He may not have been raised on Veradune, but his life was irrevocably linked to it. Its joys were his and its prominence and pride were equally shared.

"I can't say I disagree. Already, my name is carved on walls back home. The galaxy has blessed me with more than a few moments of grandeur. Give it time. The trick is surviving them when they come." Between his time as a soldier in the Jedi order and his time as a burgeoning Valde with the population deficient Zorrens, Vulpesen had become a messianic figure to his people. He was a warrior who could fend off death himself. He only hoped that when Aurelian had his chance, he didn't go through the pain that he had suffered in his own trials.

Kito squeezed Valaine's hand lightly as they walked, glancing back with a crooked smile.

"You're stunning," she said bluntly, with no hesitation. "You're the most beautiful girl here."

Her lack of filter knew no bounds.

She chuckled as Valaine chatted with Reina, offering to go places with her. Malachor V wasn't exactly exciting — Kito didn't blame her. Soon, they arrived at the food table. Everything was set out neatly, trays weaving through the crowd. Kito's eyes scanned it all, though Valaine's question quickly pulled her focus back.

"I kind of eat everything," she admitted, hand rubbing at her chin in thought. "Lately, I've been craving red meat… but I like finger foods, and flavors that linger on your tongue." She turned, smiling at Valaine as if to ask whether that was a good enough answer.

Reina's words reminded her of a question she'd asked earlier, though her mind had already drifted toward food. "At home, we had ceremonial robes and feasts, always outside. That was about it," she explained, a small glimpse into Kro Var life. She doubted anyone on Naboo would think of her as anything close to noble, but on her world, it had been different.

She understood Reina's comment about Valaine going to events. To Kito, there was nothing wrong with Valaine joining them, even if it was a Jedi event. She was different.

Her eyes returned to the table. She grabbed a napkin, then noticed a sliced bantha slider stacked with greens and red sauce. "This looks good." She handed one to Valaine, then picked up two more, passing one to Reina before taking a bite herself.

"Here you go." She smiled, then nodded quickly as she finished her own. "It's good!"

Her eyes drifted back over the spread, then to the two women beside her.

"What about you, Valaine? What do you like to eat?" She already had a general idea, but it felt right to ask. Her gaze shifted to Reina, including her as well. "You too, Reina. What do you like to eat?"

"You seem pretty figured out. I think you look pretty good. You've at least made an effort with the makeup. I didn't really...touch the stuff. Not sure what kind of products work on Ersansyr skin anyway."

"Hm? Is Ersansyr skin that different?" Valaine asked in response as she raised a brow towards Reina. She couldn't tell at a glance at least, but being something of an aquatic being it made some sense to her. "But... Thank you Reina, I appreciate it, gonna make me blush." she spoke with a certain amount of careless smugness and a smirk.

That being said Kito's words caught the young Sangnir off guard; her compliment and adoration so direct and blunt it actually did get the pale vampire to blush as she offered more of a shy smile this time. "... K- Kito, careful, you might insult the other guests..." she chuckled nervously as her eyes briefly wandered. She had no doubt there were many guests at the Gala far more beautiful than herself, but well, beauty was in the eye of the beholder. She'd have returned such compliments to the Shaper were it not for the fact she was so flustered now.

In perhaps a bid to distract herself briefly she turned back to Reina, "O- Oh, Reina, so you being okay with me here, even after what happened... You're fine with hanging out with me right? That means a lot you know, so I appreciate it." she gave a soft nod, diverting the topic ever so slightly before her tired gaze shifted to Kito's selection of food.

She watched as she lifted the sliced bantha and took a bite, almost gauging whether it was good or not simply from her response to it. After it seemed that the Shaper enjoyed it she took a bite from the piece she was offered and chewed thoughtfully. It was delicious, perhaps not as nourishing and flavorful as what she considered to be her usual meals, but it was certainly a nice alternative.

"Ooh wait this is actually pretty good...!" commented the Sangnir as she reached for another. As she ate her second mouthful she side-glanced Kito's answer about what kind of food she liked to eat and it seemed to give her some sort of knowing pause. "Mmmhm? Very specific, Kito..." she commented softly before being asked the same question.

"Hm... I guess..." her grey eyes shifted skyward, or rather ceiling-ward in this case, in thought. A light huff of amusement escaped her lips, "I think spicy is good, has to be hot too I really can't do cold usually, especially with my sort of appetite you know? Ah, lots of sauce too? Food that's just like, drenched and dripping in flavor. You get it?" she answered.

"Well. It'd be best if the makeup was waterproof. Plus I'd need to be careful getting it near my gills. I'd rather not end up choking because of some makeup."

She shrugged her shoulders as she spoke. It wasn't something she had experienced, but it was just something that was in the back of Reina's mind every so often. Reina blinked at Kito's rather blunt compliments towards Valaine...before the redhead broke out into a wide grin, giving a small sly nod in agreement.

"I like Kito already. She's right though. You look radiant."

Compliments weren't exactly Reina's strong suit, but it was mostly because Reina didn't like to use flowery language. She was direct and to the point. Either way, she listened as Kito spoke about her homeworld, how they had feasts and ceremonial outfits. That was must better than being stuck in some fishing gear. Hot days out on the deck, reeking of fish guts. Reina knew that should be gross for most people...but well, she had gotten used to it. It also meant that Reina was at least somewhat more tolerant of stinky things.

Yet her focus was snapped out of that thought when Valaine spoke, and Reina stared at the Sangir for a moment, blinking almost as if in disbelief. Disbelief that Valaine even had to say that. Her eyes darted over towards Kito for a moment as Reina debated saying what she was going to say...but she presumed with how close Valaine was to the other girl, she probably knew, and so Reina did her best impression of Valaine's voice, trying to sound quite tired.
"But yeah, I like you Reina, I think we could get along all things considered. We can both be awful friends to one another."

"I knew what I was getting into. Being your friend. And I still stand by it Valaine. I still stand by you. We're friends. Everyone fights with their friends every now and then."

Okay. Maybe Reina was lying slightly. She didn't entirely know what she was going to get into. She didn't know that she'd be fighting one of her friends in a tower owed by someone that made Reina's life hell...but that wasn't Valaine's fault. If anything, Reina was going to encourage Valaine to spend more time with her or Kito. The closer Valaine was to the Jedi, the better.

And with that, she turned her attention towards the food, scanning around for any good fish dishes with which Reina would began to eat as carefully as she could. The Ersansyr wasn't overly hungry, but she felt like it would be rude of her not to eat whilst the others were.

"Fish."

It probably wouldn't have came as a surprise to Valaine to hear that was what Reina liked to eat at the end of the day. It had been a staple of her diet after all. Though...there was one little extra bit that Reina tried to squeak under.

"...And sweets."

Having a sweet tooth was new for Reina. But it also made her friendship with Aiden even more of something she enjoyed. With how much sweet stuff he liked to make, Reina got to be in heaven with the amount of sweets.
