STANDARD FEATURES
  • Crew Living Areas
    • Mess Hall
    • Crew Quarters: 5 bedrooms for the crew (not including the captain). Every 2 bedrooms share a washroom/shower. Each bedroom contains lockers for storage, a bunk, a desk and chair and a large vidscreen.
    • Recreational Area
  • Captain’s Suite
    • An office for the captain to conduct ship business and keep his records. Slightly larger than a standard bedroom it provides the captain a place to be alone with their thoughts.
    • Attached to the office is a standard ship bedroom, the only difference between the captains quarters and the other bedrooms is the modicum of privacy that comes from the location of the entrance in the office.
  • Engineering
  • Computing
    • The ship’s systems run on the LK O.N.N. which allows a decentralised smart program (Not quite an AI, more akin to modern assistants) to assist the crew with running the ship.
    • The ship runs on [/I]Tumbler, allowing the UI to adapt to it’s user and systems and preferences to follow them around the ship.
      • For example, the communications officer might prefer their UI laid out in a certain way, and this will adapt to any control they access. They will also be able to access the communications systems from any bridge console, but not, for example, the piloting system.
  • Life Support Systems
  • Bridge:
    • Located at the front of the ship, the bridge has seats and workstations for 4 members of the crew. Only the pilot’s station at the front of the bridge has specialised equipment, in the form of the flight controls. The other three stations consist of Theiaglass dashboard that can pull up whichever systems the user is authorised to access.
  • Medbay
    • Located on the lower deck, the freighter’s medbay is designed to handle the most common injuries and ailments which a crew might suffer. For anything more advanced they would need to be taken to a larger more specialized station or planetary hospital.
  • Modular Bay
    • Taking up most of the lower deck is a large empty space which contains basic railings allowing it to quickly be shifted between several uses depending on the ships needs. The storage bay is set up with multiple
    • tractor projectors that allow cargo to be moved easily, or to secure the modular loadouts that can be fitted in.
      • Storage
        • The main setup of the modular bay is a space to store cargo as the freighter moves between systems, allowing them to carry an enviable number of goods.
      • Freezer
        • A specialised storage setup designed to allow the freighter to carry organic goods over long distances.
      • Medical
        • A module installing a number of hospital beds and equipment, allowing the freighter to respond to humanitarian disasters.
      • Passenger
        • A number of cabins and amenities allowing the freighter to carry passengers instead of cargo.
  • Single Craft Hangar
    • At the back of the lower floor, a small hangar is located which can hold a shuttle or other small craft as well providing access to the modular bay.

DESCRIPTION
Everyday tens of thousands of ships travel the galaxy, transporting millions of tons of goods across the galaxy. Whether it’s food, electronics, resources or people, transport and trade is the very lifeblood of the galaxy. It keeps when wheels of industry, of the very basics of living turning.
Much of this transport is carried out by medium-sized freighters. The ships are capable of carrying their cargo to all ends of the galaxy, packing in tons of cargo while still small enough to land on a planet, or dock with any spaceport.
The Mercury Class is Locke and Key’s first foray into the small medium market. A freighter large enough to carry a significant cargo, while still small enough to allow for a minimal crew. Rather than build a different type of ship for each form of cargo transport Locke and Key created a modular merchant ship, the main storage bay capable of being replaced with various set ups and modules to accommodate different loads. From containers, to agricultural goods, people or set up as a hospital ship, the Mercury class freighter can do it all.
The freighter is built over 2 levels, with the bridge and crew area on the upper deck and the engine room, med bay and storage area on the lower deck. An elevator just off the bridge, and ladders around the ship allow easy movement between decks, as needed.

While the living and working areas of the ship are split between two levels the cargo area is open, filling both levels of the ship. This configuration allows the Mercury to maximize both cargo space, comfort and productivity, creating a true workhorse that is capable of handling just about anything that the galaxy might throw at it.
