The ancient New Class modernization program had crafted several warships worthy of repute, whose design legacies were sadly discounted due to the immense amount of allocated resources that were required for their creation. Because credits were hard to come by for the nascent New Republic, especially as the Civil War took its toll upon the Galaxy entire, it wasn’t surprising to note that the program was cancelled after several of these designs were made. Despite the massive cost attributed to these warships, the New Class vessels had proven themselves time and again when pitted against hostile forces. It was believed that these warships were some of the few that managed to stand their ground against the extragalactic invaders, when all others were forced to flee for their lives. With such a legacy attributed to their design, it was little wonder that the Republic Engineering Corporation of the present sought to emulate their past successes.
Thus, the Majestic II - Class Heavy Cruiser was born. While it was visually identical to the previous iteration of the design, the Majestic II was outfitted with a veritable host of modern improvements and advancements. The Heavy Turbolasers that once armed the first generation were replaced by a selection of Long-range weaponry, which enhanced the Warship’s combat efficacy on the spatial battlefield. With the first Majestic - Class being able to outpace Imperial Star Destroyers and slay them through a death brought about by a thousand cuts, the Second iteration improved on that old adage. Not only would the Majestic II be capable of engaging enemy forces from a distance, but their Long-range turrets were comparable to their Heavy variants at close(r) ranges. A factor which no doubt enhanced the Majestic’s combat prowess, making the warship capable as both a flanking vessel and a frontline pocket-battleship.
From there, the Majestic II was outfitted with an array of supporting weaponry. The most notable of these additions were the advanced turbolasers, which housed a quick-recharge functionality. While they were incapable of being classified as rapid-fire weaponry, through those once-lost advancements, the Majestic II was capable of swiftly bombarding an enemy’s defences - if not overloading them outright. Like many of the modernized Republic Engineering warships, the Majestic II was outfitted with a comprehensive point defence network that was beyond comparison. With heavily automated systems, the Heavy Cruiser was capable of rapidly traversing their collective turrets across multiple vectors to engage hostile targets - be they starfighters or disgorged warheads. That wasn’t mentioning the capabilities, or outright lethality that was presented by the selection of weapons.
With standard, and more advanced variants of pulse cannon turrets available, the Majestic II was a potent anti-starfighter vessel. This capability further added to the warship’s deadly flexibility on the spatial battlefield. While the larger weapons would be busying themselves with Capital Ships, the more nimble and agile strike-fighters would be engaged by the overlapping fields of rapid-firing firepower - making even the most simple bombing run into a waking nightmare. This presented lethality was further enhanced by the layout of the deflector shields, as it made the utilization of ever-popular field disruptors effectively useless - as the outfitted strike-craft would be slowed by their advance through the defensive barrier(s.) Slowed targets were essentially easy prey, even if their jamming beams were active and seeking to scramble a turret’s targeting software.
When every aspect of the Majestic II was combined into a singular, destructive vision, the Republic Engineering Corporation believed that it had made a worthy successor to the legacy already forged by the original Majestic - Class Cruiser.
