- Accessibility: Built on the lower areas of the districts, the southern watergardens were a place of beauty that was turned into a place of war as the many entrances were sealed up to funnel and create chokepoints.
- Description: An academy largely made of two areas, the ancient watergardens and a more open campus. The campus itself is streamlined with buildings for dorms and classes while boasting areas of plants and grass for the students to have morning exercises. The watergardens that it is renowned for and where internal training is located as beasutiful with white pink stone smoothed from the waters and fountains that send the cool waters. Areas that have grooves from practice in martial arts as well as deep pools that allow for aquatic training and simulation of moving around in space. The once great stables now housing simulation pods to teach vehicles and starships.
Headmasters office: Main place to find Suzaku No Miya the strict and highly disciplined headmaster of the academy. He rarely admits students into his office making sure they follow the proper channels to request he see them.
Tech Hanger: A practice field where Kabaneri fighters can be checked and worked on or tested by the students to learn how to fully use each piece of equipment.
SECURITY
High
Designed with a punishment squad, internal student security that augments the campus security forces. Highly trained and using Yuánshuài Class Barriers along the outside to protect from mock invasions. Since they have the most open area the development of technology that can be tested for survival and pilots is encouraged. The students are ranked by their fighting capability and skills with piloting or navigation and can challenge each other for higher ranked positions within their grade making all students much more of a standing force inside of the walls of their academy.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The noble southern academy was founded by the Onyx empress in what she considered her favorite location in Kansai when she traveled and visited with Oda. The water gardens were often described as a wonderful place and it became a winter location to visit when the snows came to Jar'kai as it always remained temperate near the coast. When Oda rose up and rebelled the gardens were turned into a military academy dedicated to producing fighters to go after her sister in law that would come from a place she had enjoyed. The beginnings of it though were also created with the other academies to fight and produce the strongest yovshin who would be her personal guard.
In the more ancient times that came from the south, some of the most dangerous riders with abilities in tracking and stealth. Where the eastern was more mindful and knew how to manipulate people... the West were average and produced soldiers and the north seemed to enjoy its engineers and support. The south gave her the bulk of Onyx Yovshin who served with the distinct onyx colored armor. The academy after she died and was sealed in her palace. The training was still done but now the yovshin produced were for the new emperor who kept the tradition as it was mostly all the academies knew and it was giving results.
Eventually the dangers were lessened with mock battles being to defeat instead of attacking and injuring or even killing. This allowed them to be done more often to show the students evolving skills in a fight as well as teaching riding, piloting and creature handling. The centuries evolved it into a specialization of the school that would see some ofthe finest Atrisian pilots coming out of the school and going to the flight academies on the world to better defend Atrisia. Their student council largely being for show as it was under direct orders of the headmaster and a more regimented structure existed in the school system with them all answering to the teachers who commanded the different units.
Eventually the Inquisition came and the stirrings of the newly reformed Atrisian empire. The students being taken for soldiers and they were given a new headmaster from the military. He didn't waste time in establishing the dictrine of the school and they were a singular unit.. a battalion that would fight and work together as a singular unit. Adopting the reforms to the training was much easier in the southern academy as the eastern started to burn from its own.... something the headmaster was spineless in Suzaku's opinion and it led to their punishment squad being more violent and pushing something but he had them barricade and seal up the district only letting the people out who were being attacked.
With the reforms in the east after the rioters made the mistake of attacking the Empress and Princess he snorted sending his upper classmen to join the military forces that had been brought in to quell all of the violence. Once it was over despite his lack of decorum in the meeting with the empress she agreed to give the southern academy the things it needed to go with the new reconstruction efforts. Their improved buildings would serve as well as a new open campus where they could divide the buildings into barracks and classrooms to teach them. He oversaw much more in the reconstruction effoprts as well as the southern academy got to work with the new generation of Atrisian fighter craft.
