Valery Noble Valery Noble had become a name synonymous with the Jedi. Her exploits secured victory from the Maw and helped save millennia of knowledge at the battle of Tython. Striking not at the heart but the soul of the Jedi, he regretted not being there, but then he was a Padawan. He also knew that Grand Master Tiland Kortun Tiland Kortun would not have approved; it was not their way. The Coalition had hoped to return to the old ways, scholars and diplomats keeping the peace not through Force but through mediation. And yet, here they were, facing the abyss.

Pyeth knew well the value of compassion; it forged bonds and relationships upon which one could rely for protection and assistance in times of need. All the more important that he made a good impression, all the more important he could help Valery restore her mettle. Pyeth dedicated weeks to preparing, honing his healing techniques, and testing herbal remedies from his private garden of Rishii flora. Given more time, he might have sought out the Zapist, sought the wisdom of his patron, but time was prohibitive. Instead, he turned to the local fauna of Dagobah.

Jubba Bird. Native to Dagobah, Pyeth had spent many moons studying their song, its effects and if he could use his talent for mimicry to replicate it. So far, he had limited success. It wasn't enough to mimic the bird song. There was a missing ingredient, the Force, or at least an attribute of it, he theorised, but that was beside the point. Its bird song could put the mind at ease, and combined with some of his recipes, Pyeth believed there was a real chance of helping Valery recover.

Azure Rose Azure Rose , his Padawan and a capable doctor would be on hand to assist. Truthfully, he did not yet know what to think of the vulpine. His mind often wandered, jumping from one conclusion to the next. Focusing that inquisitive mind on his training would be a challenge. However, his connection to the Force was strong, and he proved an invaluable ally aboard the Reliant after it was invaded by an alien entity.

He already sent instructions to meet him at the landing pad, where they would greet Valery and her retinue if she bought any at all. Checking his Jedi robe once more for dust or creases he left his room, walking at a quickened, nervous pace. He felt childish today, as though he were meeting a childhood hero while carrying the weight of possible future negotiations between their Orders.

When he arrived, he nodded at Azure in greeting.

"You got my message." Pyeth said, "Master Noble should be arriving shortly, so let's try and be on our best behaviour. Hmm?"

Pyeth learned Azure had an affinity for causing mischief when he was bored. Hopefully, today's challenge will stimulate him.

“Yes?” he nodded at Pyeth Raffinki Pyeth Raffinki in confusion before looking down at the robes he was wearing, perhaps he wasn’t wearing them correctly, they were a bit too loose for his liking but this was apparently part of the standard formal attire for Jedi and while he didn’t actually care about being a Jedi itself, the knowledge he could gain by joining the cult was too great to pass up.

Still he wasn’t a fan of them and would be taking them off as soon as it was socially acceptable to do so. He’d have to customise them more to his liking and for all his faults, being a tailor was not a skill he possessed.

“I was checking in on the kitchen staff, making sure everything was ready for your guest should she want something to eat right away. Maybe something she was familiar with would help her relax?” The fact he’d been going there to help out and unwind the last few weeks being something he was refraining to mention.

“Can I get a run down on the medical report on what we need to treat?” he continued looking up and taking in his mentor’s nervousness “I heard a few things but I wasn’t able to find out if this was a case of physical or mental healing?”

He didn’t know alot about the guest that they were receiving, but he got the sense of excitement and nervousness from his teacher, so this Valery Noble Valery Noble was most likely either well known or they had some sort of personal connection to Pyeth. What information he had been able to find out was they needed help recovering, whether that was mental or physical he did not know, but he figured setting up some sort of local or familiar food for the Jedi would help the reception. Possibly help relax the bird in front of him. And maybe just maybe get some more actual hands on instruction in this whole ‘force’ thing.

While it was true that his teachers façade would fool many, Azure had always had a knack for seeing others tells, so while the most about of time he had a chance to spend time asking questions was when he brought food, it still had let him get a handle of his new ‘masters’ emotions.
It was possible that now the visit was underway Pyeth would pull away further but Azure was hoping that it would do the opposite and mean he would get some actual hands-on training.

The lack of direction had been frustrating. Given how little time the bird had for him in the last few weeks it meant that while he had been given a few Holobooks to Perouse, allot of what he was doing was self-study, he’d already went through education twice and had expected this to be more of an apprenticeship position then what he was currently doing.

Still, the temple did have archives full of useful knowledge and the medical knowledge available to the cult was something that was definitely worthwhile, even if the amount of indoctrination he’d stumbled across in some of the tomes was…kind of amusing?

He expected to read about and be taught techniques and theories yes, but instead he was finding more about spiritual philosophy and meditation techniques and right now they were not really meshing with him.
It felt…cold and detached and while he knew more than a few colleagues like that, it never sat right with him.

Still he was invested now, and he did like Pyeth so he was sticking through this. Even if he had been finding that he'd been needing alternative ways to keep himself from growing stir-crazy as of late.

After a long journey from Coruscant, Valery's X-wing finally dropped out of hyperspace and pierced through Dagobah's atmosphere. She already had the coordinates to the Temple from her old friend Elias Edo Elias Edo , so once she received the exact landing zone that they wanted her to land at, she knew where to go. It was only the second time she visited the Temple, and while beautiful, she likely wouldn't have visited now of all times if it wasn't for what happened. The capture and torture of body and especially mind that she endured had changed something.

The NJO's Chief Healer and her former Padawan, a doctor, had saved her life with how they treated her. But the road to recovery would extend far beyond the crucial physical and mental healing they performed. That's what ultimately brought her to Dagobah as well — the next step in her healing process. She hadn't properly met Pyeth Raffinki Pyeth Raffinki before, but from what she heard, he'd be able to help her, or at least figure out a path forward.

His Padawan would be there to assist as well, so she felt she was in good hands. Her husband and oldest daughter appreciated that, or they would have never allowed her to leave.

Eventually, the fighter touched down, and after the engines went offline, the canopy opened. Valery climbed outside, still wearing her helmet, and stretched her legs a little bit after sitting inside a small space for so long. The Jedi Master then turned towards the two other Jedi, reached up and removed her helmet, allowing her long dark-brown hair to cascade down behind her back. She fixed it up with a single hand, and tossed the helmet back inside the cockpit before walking over.

"You must be Knight Raffinki," Valery began with a smile, before dipping her upper body into a respectful bow. "It's a pleasure to meet you, and this must be your Padawan?"

"An excellent idea." Pyeth cooed in response to his suggestion. In fact, it sounded like a good starting point.

Excellent questions. Pyeth thought, taking a second to consider how best to explain. Azure was fresh on the scene, with less than a month of experience amongst the Order, and he had yet to explain the living force. "Her injuries are not physical," He said, keeping it plain. "She was captured and tortured by a group known as Sith. With that in mind, I think we should avoid mentioning them, unless she herself talks about it.

As the X-Wing descended into Dagobah's orbit he received a ping from the sentries, indicating their guest was about to arrive. As the ship landed, Pyeth used the Force to mold a feint whirlwind around himself, and his Padawan. Protecting them from the powerful gales exerted by the thrust engines.

His ear tufts raised with the canopy, coming to attention and allowing the wind barrier to migrate harmlessly away. His eyes brightening as she removed her helmet and greeted them.

"Indeed I am," he answered with a slight bow, "This is my Padawan, Azure." Pyeth confirmed raising his head to meet Valery.

"I understand from Master Elias that this your first time visiting us, with that in mind I thought we'd begin with a tour, whilst we make our way to the Tash's Rest. Perhaps, if your hungry, my Padawan can cook something up for you?" Pyeth offered stepping aside and raising one wing towards the door, inviting her to join them.

He kept his words to himself as he observed the casual display of power as the winds that should have buffered them from an airship's landing, simply didn't.

Instead his focus was on the words spoken, sith. He'd heard of them before, a rival cult to the Jedi based on some sort of sociological or philosophical differences.

A very hostile rival cult if what he was hearing was true. Torture always left a bad taste in his mouth and further more mental scars and physiological issues where not his forte, still he would do his best and food was something he was more than well versed in at this point.

He gave a small nod as he was introduced as the apprentice, the fact that the cult had its own word for it was… well it was par for the course if he was being honest with himself, nothing else seemed straightforward here, If there was one thing he had learned so far? It was that the Jedi liked being mysterious to a fault. And if they wanted to Fancy up the way they called him a student? Well, he'd been to worse roleplaying clubs back when getting his degree.

He was also very aware that the amount of snark his inner monologue was getting, the lack of actual progress and ….possibly lack of sleep getting to him, he really needed to mitigate that before he picked up master pyeths bad habits.

He gave a small nod to be polite towards their guest as they came down and said master offered azure's culinary experience. "I can prepare a variety of dishes depending on your dietary needs, preference and spice tolerance."

An offer for a tour and food already just on arrival? Valery chuckled and offered both of them a warm smile to show her gratitude for their hospitality. "Thank you for the warm welcome. A tour sounds lovely, and I'll never say no to some food, if it's not too much of a hassle." She looked at Azure now, since he had offered to cook something up. The last thing she wanted was for him to be stuck in the kitchen if he didn't really want to be there.

"As for what I like, I'm quite fond of steak with vegetables. But I'd love to try something local as well." She loved to cook, so trying new things was part of all that. Learning new recipes, being surprised by a potential new favorite meal she could discover on a world far away from home. Those were the little things in life she loved the most.

Valery then stepped forward to start following them through the Temple. She knew a little bit about its lay-out, but not enough to find her way alone just yet. A small tour and some discussion would be a perfect way to start the day.

"How have things been here recently? Quiet I hope, considering how awfully close you are to the Sith in this region."

"Say no more," Pyeth said, taking point and leading them inside the Jedi temple. Once inside, he would show Valery around the temple, snaking his way towards the kitchens and mess hall where he trusted Azure would take over. Their journey would take them through the training rooms first. Her question surprised him. It was asked so casually; given her circumstances, he did not expect the topic to arise until later that day.

"They've been quieter than usual; there is some debate whether that is because of Admiral Sacul's ambush and subsequent victory at Queyta or if they are simply gone to ground operating from the shadows. I recently heard one of our Knight's encountered a Sith on Susefvi, but there is nothing yet to suggest they have any allegiance to the Sith Order.

In my opinion, we should strike while they're licking their wounds, but Admiral Sacul is more concerned with the Final Dawn and Mawite remnants - I believe he is worried they might sabotage any war effort against the Sith Order." Pyeth answered as they neared the training rooms. Four rooms split off from a central command station that overlooked the chambers. Two were dedicated to combat, one to the application of the Force, and finally a multifunctional chamber; used primarily for lectures and workshops joining onto the reflection pools, and a turbo lift to the archives.

"Welcome to the primary training facilities - they are modular and can be controlled from that console. He said, pointing at the centre of the room. "The hallway ahead of us should lead us to the main hall." Pyeth nodded, giving Valery a few moments before proceeding with the tour. He would start with the main temple, showing her the reflection pools, council chambers, and master's retreat before ending at the turbo lifts.

He would take the group down, passing through the gardens before finally reaching the catina. It was quiet at this time of day, most of the Padawans in training with the Masters giving them the run of the place. "So Azure, think you can cook us up a meal using local ingredients?" Pyeth smiled, allowing his Padawan to take the lead on food.

He followed along. Ears flickering as the conversation between his master and their guest continued. There was a lot he was missing simply due to lack of context but he understood enough.
They had either struck a blow so hard that rivals were scattering. Or planning an ambush of some sort. And of course different sub factions had different plans on how things could be dealt with.
At least he didn't have to worry about the politics in his current position.

Still that was besides the point. The lazy trail that had taken was coming to an end and thus his next job would be coming up.

Food. Service.

There weren't many others here at this time of day meaning that he could do his own thing without having to ask permission or get in anyone's way.
He took his time here. Pulling out several cuts of meats and plant matter from storage, inspecting their condition and freshness before pulling up some of his notes. Both on pyreths dietary needs and preferences but also data on Keshian biology. No need to poison their guest on the first meeting after all. Plus it would mean he could figure out general preferences. Sure a blood sample or perhaps a strand of hair would work better, but he would leave that for later.

What mattered was that he had enough to get to work. Frying meat in accordance with his notes. Barking out small quick questions at his clients whenever a possible preference or allergy came up.

He spent more time putting on a show. Frying the meat in the open to excite the senses. Laying on sauces and roasted vegetables to compliment the meat in the case of valery. While piling different meats and broth in pyreths case.

"Ahem. Food is ready. Please enjoy" he spoke, smiling as he served the food one at a time before making his way to the side and helping himself to a smaller portion made from the extras he'd had left over.
It could feel awkward if someone joining you didn't eat themselves after all.

"I agree that you should strike now," Valery said with a dip of her head. "Sith going quiet is never a good thing. Even with the Maw, who we dealt a crushing blow to, remnants continue to plague people in that part of the Galaxy." Before that war took off, she spent much of her time working as a Jedi Shadow to hunt down and neutralize remnants of the Sith Empire that fell before. Many survivors of that Empire were now involved with this new Sith Order.

She had encountered several already, and she knew that it was only just the beginning.

Today, though, she wasn't here to focus her mind on war and conflict. She had her own demons to address, and focusing on the tour that was being offered helped a lot. Along the way, Azure Rose Azure Rose stayed behind to prepare their meals already, which made her feel a little bit bad. She came here to rest and to get some help, but she never wanted anybody to feel like they had to serve her. She'd have to make sure to thank him for the food.

As expected, the Temple itself was a place of beauty, even though it was quite literally built on a swamp planet. Whoever constructed it not only developed a spectacular design, but also made everything feel right. "Thank you for showing me around a little," Valery told Pyeth with a smile, as they made their way into the Cantina. Azure joined them there again with meals prepared, and it all looked really good.

"Thank you for making all of this for us. I appreciate it," Valery said before she carefully took her first bite. Her smile brightened instantly, showing that she loved the food.

"Your most welcome Valery Noble Valery Noble " Pyeth nodded, entering the cantina. He was immediately hit by the aroma's of Azure Rose Azure Rose 's cooking, the cloud helping raise his spirits.

Taking a seat, he looked at his Padawan with delight. He clearly put a lot of effort into the dish, even accounting for his carnivorous tastes.

The broth was pleasantly tasteful, a rare treat for one of his species. Spices were a commodity, afforded only by the richest tribes if they even so lucky.

All the while, he noticed Azure's smaller portion but made no immediate comment. "This has to be your best dish yet," Pyeth cooed.

"So, once we are done here, there are some friends I'd like you to meet who will help our meditations." He paused to take another sip from the broth.

"Have you ever heard of Jubba Birds?"

He took small practiced bites as he listened in on the conversation going on before him, flashing a brief smile and "thank you" when they gave him praise. So show that he was pleased but humble. Even if his internal thoughts were more akin to a mastermind rubbing hands together as his dark scheme was fulfilled.

He did have to bite his tongue when the Jubba birds came up. He understood where Master Raffinki came from in his thought process but, every time he saw them he could only think about how they had evolved.
A serrated beak for cutting and tearing, a soothing song for lulling one into a false sense of security.

Plus, while Pythe said he found the song soothing, it just felt off to him, though perhaps that was because of his focus on what he expected them to do with that song?

"I can't say I've heard about them," Valery told Pyeth in all honesty. There were far too many species of animals in the Galaxy to be aware of all of them, but this particular bird sounded important. Although, a single glance in Azure's direction made her feel just a little bit of tension. Was there something about these birds she really needed to know before meeting them?

Only one way to find out.

"But birds being able to help with meditation sounds interesting. Are they Force-sensitive creatures?" Valery then asked, her curiosity piqued while she continued to enjoy her meal. She'd have to remind herself to ask for recipes later, if Azure would be willing to share them.

Maybe her family would enjoy these too.

"That's a part of it." Pyeth confirmed, moving at a casual pace. "Their tune helps put the mind at rest, and I hoped combining it with my own talents might have medicinal benefits.

Being wounded is wrought with stress and fatigue, breeding fear that I often find to be detrimental to their health. Jubba Birds have proven a effective tool, so it's not at all surprising to me that poachers often try to acquire them for trade in the core and black markets."

Pyeth could talk all day about the alien birds, he never once encountered a voice he couldn't mimick and he relished the challenge. Not only that, but he truly believed his work to be valuable.

Following a short jaunt in the turbolift they reached Tasha's rest. Padawans and a few knights were scattered over the half dozen platforms. They reminded him of home, or the high homes of the Wookies.

"Well here we are. I've taken liberty to isolate a area for our meditations." He explained leading the way.

His chosen area was a half enclosed observation deck, high enough into the canopy to see the membrane winged birds, but low enough to look down unto the mist cloaked swamps.

Pillows had been laid out, and a tea set laid out in a very similar manner to how his master Tiland Kortun Tiland Kortun had taught him. All porcelain of course.

"Please choose your seat, and we can make a start once we are comfortable." He said approaching a pouch of hard nuts. He scattered them over a small platform and trilled excitedly.

It prompted several of the avian creatures to approach, eager for a easy meal and giving Valery an opportunity to see the Jubba bird for herself.

He rolled his eyes at Pyeths explanation, put his mind at rest meant one of two things, being woozy or disoriented, none of the so called health benefits when he had interacted with them, He had thought they would have been a good thing at first, then he had seen them and all thoughts of that went out the window.

At least Pyeth was enthusiastic about the birds, with any luck once his guest was gone he would share some of that enthusiasm with his training before he made like a bird and flew the coup.

When they reached the top of the lift he gave a small shudder as he looked around, spotting the 'Birds' and the bitter tea that had been set out. Yuck.

And no, he did not believe these things existed on a diet of nuts. Maybe supplementary yes. But those things were meat eaters.

He gave the smallest bow possible as he stood at the door looking at the birds. "Shall I leave you?" he questioned as Pyeth sat down with his guest. He would find something to do…again.

Pyeth turned around to Azure Rose Azure Rose , the plumage around his eyes softening. "I had hoped you might join us, but that is no way an order." He said, he hoped Azure species unique relationship with their emotions could help guide them.

"Your connection to the Force is uniquely intune with your emotions. I hoped we might utilise that as a safety net?" He said thoughtfully.

A tune to ease the mind?

It made Valery smile a little, as it reminded her of the way her own mother used to calm her down, and how she in turn calms down her own children. Humming the old Keshian tune always got them to stop crying, or help them sleep at night if they were struggling to on their own.

"I look forward to hearing them sing," Valery said, before it was time to get up and start moving. As they walked, she looked around idly, taking note of other Jedi who wandered around, as well as more of the Temple's design. But when they eventually reached the meditation room, all of her focus shifted to the birds he allowed to walk around.

She sat down on a pillow, and watched closely for a moment. "Cute little guys," she said, as she reached over with a finger to gently pet one on the head.

Valery then looked over at Azure, and dipped her head likely, "If you'd like to, please do stay."

……
……..
………..

Not an order, but a suggestion and…well he hated getting disappointed looks.
Legacy of a youth spent helping people he supposed.

“In that case I shall stay” he returned the bow, head dipping before finding a space to seat himself, while keeping the two jedi between him and the birds, thankfully, the birds never got that close to him, Possibly sensing his unease.

hu. Before now he hadn’t thought about if they may be empathic or just reading body language. It could be an interesting study.
One started flying closer to him but as soon as he looked up it made to quickly backpedal away.

…that was…interesting?
...
Research would be required. He closed his eyes for a second, before opening them when he heard the sound of wingbeats near him. And yet once more. The pattern repeated. Were they attempting to stalk or to play?or possibly something else.
