- Crystal: Valery's "Flame" lightsaber crystal is the core of the weapon's strengths.
- Bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse: While not a Shadow anymore, Valery's history as one has made her want to work in any environment, underwater included. This upgrade allows the weapon to function when submerged in water.
- No Dimetris-circuit: With this modification, Cortosis will not make the weapon short out.
- Crude Phobium emitter: An additional upgrade to benefit her more aggressive fighting style preferences. The double-bladed lightsaber is considered a more aggressive weapon as well, thus making it a useful upgrade.
- From Crystal:
- Cutting potential: With the crystal being a Hurrikaine crystal, its potential to get through more resistant materials is amplified. Some materials, especially when they are thick, will still make it hard to get through, but consecutive strikes or enough time can allow this weapon to get through.
- Force-imbued: While minor, the Force imbuing of the crystal has made it slightly more stable and makes it easier for Valery to connect with the Force in combat.
- Bonded: The crystal is bonded to Valery and only she can benefit from the Flame effect or the Force-imbued effects she added. In the hands of a Dark Sider, any weapon using the crystal will disengage and in the hands of allies, the weapon will be less stable and without any significant benefits over more standard crystals.
- Flame: In the hands of a Master with a pure heart and great control, Flame will heighten its owner's speed, strength, and precognitive skills in combat noticeably.
- From Weapon Design:
- No dimetrus circuit: Unlike standard lightsabers, cortosis will not make this weapon short out.
- Bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse: This double-bladed lightsaber can function underwater.
- Resilient Materials: The materials used in the construction of this weapon are all very resilient, allowing it to take several hits before breaking apart. But while the weapon won't easily break, there is still the risk of it going unstable due to the crystal.
WEAKNESSES
- From Crystal:
- Force-nullification: While the weapon can still function with this crystal in a Force-nullified field, the Force-imbuement Valery added into the crystal can not. So in the presence of a Void stone or Ysalamiri field, the weapon will become less stable and more of Valery's energy is needed to connect with the Force.
- Flame: Only a true Master with a pure heart and strong will can make use of the crystal. Students of the Force or those too heavily conflicted will find the crystal to be so chaotic that wielding a weapon with it would be dangerous. They could lose themselves completely emotionally or the crystal could end up rejecting them, causing the weapon to disengage.
- Instability: The chaotic nature of the crystal doesn't just affect the owner of the crystal — the weapon is less stable and if it were to get damaged too badly, the alignment of the crystal could be ruined, which would result in the weapon no longer being effective.
- From Weapon Design:
- Crude Phobium Emitter: Compared to standard emitters, these are heavier and more difficult to wield in a weapon. With one on each side of the double-bladed lightsaber, the weapon is more difficult to use.
- Crystal Chamber: The crystal chamber in the center of the weapon holds the rather unstable crystal. Any attacks that directly strike it can potentially cause the whole weapon to shut down.
DESCRIPTION
During the days of the Old Republic, Valery made a name for herself as a capable warrior, and she was especially known for her use of a double-bladed lightsaber, a more aggressive weapon that wasn't so common among the Jedi. It fit the more aggressive styles that Valery preferred, and as the Battlemaster of her Enclave, she instructed others in its use as well.
But in the aftermath of the battle on Onderon that led up to her time in stasis, Valery lost her signature weapon and hasn't used a new one since her awakening. That was, at least, until one of her lightsabers was destroyed during some time in captivity. Following a lengthy recovery from that, Valery began a search for a new crystal and after discovering Flame, she decided it was time to build herself a new double-bladed lightsaber.
Due to the chaotic nature of the crystal, however, she decided to contact Kyyrk, a much more skilled Artisan who would be able to help her build the weapon and ensure that it was safe to use. Now, with the weapon finally constructed and Valery recovered and at full strength, she is ready to be a leading figure on the battlefields once again.
