- Excellent All-Rounder: The standard Storm Hawk is an excellent all-rounder ship capable of being outfitted for and taken on a wide variety of missions from patrol and anti-piracy duties to small scale planetary invasions. It has good armament, good shielding, decent space and aerodynamics, and can even support up to three squadrons of support craft or starfighters and a personal ship for the commander.
- Extensive Automation: A concession to the reduced state of Imperial forces at the time of its design and construction, the Storm Hawk is heavily automated, reducing its crew requirements substantially and allowing for more ground troops and equipment to be stored in its place.
- Comparatively Few In Number: Compared to the base Storm Hawk and its upgraded Minor variant, the ISFL variant is seen fielded in substantially reduced numbers due to the increased cost of production.
- More Expensive: Thanks to the complete and final optimization of the automation systems, it can squeeze in one more full squadron of fighters due to more efficient automation space allocation than even its Minor production counterpart, becoming Limited due to the expense.
An improvement over the base Storm Hawk Frigate, even more so than the Minor production version, finally fixing the original design flaw of smaller hangar space and bringing the design up to an average number of squadrons for its comparative size, making it an extremely competent heavy frigate/medium cruiser. In terms of ground support, it can still carry up to a full regiment of Imperial ground forces and their assorted equipment.
