- Excellent All-Rounder: The standard Stormhawk is an excellent all-rounder ship capable of being outfitted for and taken on a wide variety of missions from patrol and anti-piracy duties to small scale planetary invasions. It has good armament, good shielding, decent space and aerodynamics, and can even support up to a squadron of support craft or starfighters and a personal ship for the commander.
- Extensive Automation: A concession to the reduced state of Imperial forces at the time of its design and construction, the Stormhawk is heavily automated, reducing its crew requirements substantially and allowing for more ground troops and equipment to be stored in its place.
- Jack of All Trades: The old adage still applies here, albeit in a reduced form in a smaller than average starfighter complement in exchange for heavier weapons (including anti-starfighter laser cannons) and shielding/armor.
- Mass-Produced: This version of the Stormhawk is mass-produced, meaning that much can stand to be improved (and is) in the more advanced and expensive versions.
Created in the aftermath of the collapse of a number of major powers across the galaxy, including a dramatic reduction in the force projection and military strength of various Imperial-aligned factions, the ISF “Stormhawk” is in many ways a concession to the reduced abilities and economic power of these organizations find themselves with in that it often now performs the role that larger, more nominally impressive vessels might have in the past. It also includes a heavy use of automation to reduce crew requirements and increase mission flexibility in the wake of a manpower shortage often faced during these troubling times by the brave military of the Imperials.
The most common mass-produced version of the Stormhawk, seen under the command of various minor military officials and even private individuals with suitable wealth or connections, is a capable generalist military vessel. It offers good protection and firepower against a wide variety of threats from starfighters to capital ships (especially when grouped up in squadrons). It can carry up to a full regiment of Imperial ground forces and their assorted equipment, meaning a single Stormhawk can attack and hold lightly defended worlds on its own without needing to send more expensive, heavier ships. It has both minelaying and mine removal equipment for offensive and defensive purposes as well.
Tactical Use: The manufacturer recommends that a commander take full use of its wide variety of features. Being a heavy frigate or light to medium cruiser depending on one’s definition of the terms, it is nimble enough to outmaneuver most heavier capital ships, especially at range, while still retaining the speed and firepower to threaten them and go toe to toe with those of its size or smaller. Bristling with a large amount of laser cannons and capable of being equipped with its own starfighter squadron, it can effectively engage enemy starfighters, especially in a more defensive role.
Strategic Use: It is recommended for small to medium scale missions against both soft and hard targets where larger vessels are simply not economical or needed to fulfill the objectives. Examples where it can be used on its own include attacks on smaller scale enemy installations, defense of convoys from pirates, smaller space engagements, patrol duty, et cetera. One does not need (and often cannot afford) a Star Destroyer for most missions, and the Stormhawk serves as a viable and economic replacement for them.
Manufacturer Information: The designer and manufacturer is Bastion Holdings, based out of Bastion but with branch offices and production facilities across the galaxy. Formerly having ties to the now defunct Elysium Imperium, it has grown since the collapse of that Imperial offshoot and serves the wide variety of Imperial interests across the galaxy. If one wishes an upgraded or individually customized version, they are welcome to contact its corporate offices to discuss their needs, though this is not necessary for this mass-produced version.
