First Reply Is There Anybody Out There?

"Blast! I have dealt with enough ship problems already, now a failing engine?" The frustration echoed through the hull of the Blue Lightning's command deck. Sparks flew from outside the window, the left side engine blacked from fire. The smell of smoke has started to enter the cabin. A hard fist slammed against the control panel, obviously having dealt with enough of the current problem.

"Status report."

Left side engine is failing

"Status report that isn't about the NERFING OBVIOUS."

Anti explosion measure are in place. Fuel systems have shut down for that side.

I grumbled. With the engine failing while still in hyperspace, the Blue Lightning was flung out and nearly torn to shreds. Who knew what other damage could have been done. I took a step back from the control panel, assessing the situation. Sweat started to drip from my forehead, the nerves starting to kick in. What if I was stuck out here forever? What if no one came? "It will be like mom and dad" I whispered, even though I was the only one on board.

I collected myself. My right arm raised as I wiped the sweat from my face. My back straightened, my shoulders no longer slumped.

"Computer, where are we currently?"

We are currently in the Outer Rim.

More stupid nerfing responses form the computer. I'm going to get you replaced.

"Mh-hmm, WHERE in the Outer Rim?"

We are currently in the Outer Ri—

The voice was cut off by my blue lightsaber blade entering the speaker. Anger started to rise. Hate toward the situation occurred. I was about to lose it.

"Deep breaths Okkeus, deap breathes." I was starting to calm myself down. I will not allow my self to be turned back to the Dark Side of the Force.

I walked to the back side of the control room. My hand reached toward the wall as I grabbed my helmet. In both my hand I placed the helmet snugly on my head, making sure if was on straight. I then flipped a switch on the wall activating the holo-recorder. Deep breathe in, deep breathe out. The light started to flash red, notifying me it was broadcasting.

"My name is Okkeus Dainlei, I am the captain the starship 'Blue Lightning'. I am stranded somewhere in the Outer Rim with a broken engine. My controls are busted, as well as my map. If anyone is receiving this, I am requesting your help. My weapons will be turned offline. This is not an ambush. This is just a stranded spacer with a nerfing busted ship. If there is anybody out there, please come."

(OCC This is my first ever RP post, so I hope this is somewhat like it is supposed to be. I can't wait to start RPing more!)

Kenth stood there on the bridge, thinking. The distress call had been received in 3 hours ago, yet Mern squadron sat there awaiting his orders. The outer rim was a region of space that Mern Squadron hadn't been to before so the man remained cautious. It was only until the Outrider had completed it's deep scan of the area surrounding the ship did he turn to the crew on the bridge. "Open up a communication line to the Hauler and Outrider." he said to the communications officer. The man nodded and did so.

"After thinking I'm giving a go ahead to responding to the distress signal. The Hauler shall prepare a boarding party and dock with the ship and apprehend the crew while the outrider continues scanning for potential targets. The judicator shall remain between the two, covering with its superior weaponry. We don't know who we're dealing with so we shall remain on the side of caution. The lives of the boarding party come first so if they believe they are under threat they have permission to shoot to kill. It's only when we confirm there is no threat we will consider assisting 'Okkeus Dainle'. If that is all gentlemen you may prepare to jump to the ships location."

With that the communications line turned off and the 3 ships aligned themselves to the Blue Lightning's position and made the jump. Upon seeing the badly damaged craft Kenth considered that perhaps Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei was telling the truth. He however, quickly dismissed this thought. The Mern Squadron patrol had taken them outside their usual patrol grounds and he must be wary. The Outer Rim was a dangerous place and Kenth viewed the major power in the region, the Outer Planets Alliance, with contempt.

In an instant the 3 ships began to take positions with the Hauler docking with the damaged ship. The heavy turbolasers of the Judicator would target the Blue Lightning as well in the event that it were to act hostile. Kenth would open an open communication channel and say "Captain of the Blue Lightning. This is Kenth Berik, commanding officer of Mern Squadron and CEO of the Adjudicators Mercenary Company. You and your crew are to stand down and surrender to my men. You will be transported to my ship and once you are deemed not a threat we shall consider assisting you. I warn you. If you or anything on your ship attempts to harm the boarding party they shall shoot to kill."

With that Kenth stopped speaking and waited for a response. In the meantime he pulled up a datapad which was connected to the helmet cam of the boarding party lead.

Objective: Apprehend Blue Lightning Crew

SSG Pemblad nodded to his men as soon as the doors to the docking port opened and in an instant the Security Troopers began clearing the area. The Lt. was wearing his old stormtrooper armour along with his company standard gear and he was accompanied by a section of veterans and recruits. This was a standard operation to him, clearing and apprehending potential pirates. He didn't have any concerns with the mission but what he was worried about was some jumpy recruit accidentally starting a fire fight.

"Alright lads. Standard breaching and clear procedure. Our primary target is the Captain who we suspect is located on the bridge. Our orders are to apprehend the man but if you feel that he or any of his crew are a danger to yourself you are given the go ahead to shoot to kill. This is an easy standard operation. I want this to go clean and I don't want any casualties." he said to his men before signalling them to move forward. They had their guns drawn and began to slowly make their way to the bridge.

With the distress call sent out, I turned off the recorder. I set my helmet back on the shelf, making sure it didn’t bump into anything else. Carefully, I then set my lightsaber next to it. Taking a step back from the shelf, I examined it. Letting out a deep sigh, I began to take off my armor, getting down to just my underclothes. Underneath the helmet lay a holder for the gear, where I carefully set it. Walking to my closet I find my Jedi Robes, and then put them on. They were always a tight fit, but Jedi aren’t meant to complain. Once on, I returned to the control room, where I lowered myself to the ground. Crossing my legs, letting my arms drape to my sides, I begin to mediate.

Something startles me from my meditation. I quickly stand up, checking the time. It has been three hours since I sent the distress call. Walking up to the viewport, I examine the space in front of me. A ship emerges from hyperspace.

“Finally, some hel...oh no. No no no.”

This wasn’t the only ship that came out of hyperspace. Two more followed, both of them looking as menacing as the first. Panic struck. I begin to worry. My weapons were damaged along with the engine, so what if they attacked? How would I defend myself? One of the ships began to dock. I ran over to the control panel, trying to communicate to them. Before I could get a message out, my holo-projector began to turn on. Out came a faint image of an officer, flickering in and out of my view.

“Captain of the -ue Lightning. This is Ken- Berik, commanding officer of Mern Squ-on and CEO of the ----Mercenary----any. You and your crew are to st- -n and surrender to my men. You will be tr-orted to my ship and ---- you are de- -t a threat we shall co- -you. I warn you. If you or anyth- on your ship atte- harm the boardi- -arty they shall sh- to kill.”

The transmission cut out with a buzz and a spark. This isn’t good. These guys sound like a bunch of pirates. With one of their ships already docked, it was too late. I scrambled around my cabin, trying to figure out what to do. Faint footsteps could be heard down the hallway through the door. I ran over to my shelf and grabbed my lightsaber. The footsteps got louder. Would it be the best idea to attack them? What if they are trying to help? Realizing there were probably way more of them than me, I decided to try my luck. I sat back on the floor, crossed my legs, closed my eyes, and began to mediate. If I were to die, at least I will be one with the force. I set my lightsaber on the ground next to me, waiting. Three loud bangs were heard from my door. I took a breath in, then let it out. Waving my hand, the door opened. I was prepared to fight.

Watched the datapad as the boarding party made their way outside the bridge. He then activated his comm which was linked to the SSG's. "Staff Sergeant. I'm updating your ROE. If you believe that the individuals aboard this ship are pirates or criminals of any sort you have permission to open fire but I leave it to your discretion."

"Yes sir. I haven't come across any of the crew yet so I have no indication. We are coming up to the bridge now and preparing to breach it. It's my belief that the Captain is inside and if there are any crew they are in there with him." The SSG responded calmly.

Kenth continued watching, confident in the ability of the Adjudicator Security Troopers. Whoever was inside would need to be prepared.

Pemblad took a deep breath before nodding to the pointman, CPL Krez. Pemblad had been in hundreds of missions like these but each and every time breaching and clearing made him tense. It was the fear of the unknown on what was on the other side of that door. He dismissed his fear and looked down the sights. When the door opened by itself Pemblad was surprised to the say the least. In instant he grabbed a smoke grenade and popped it in the room. It gave off a quick bang and poured smoke everywhere.

In unison the troopers moved into the room, each clearing their dedicated sector. As soon as Pemblad spotted Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei he aimed his weapon at the man ready to fire. "Man spotted. Sitting on the floor." Upon seeing Okkeus sitting there the group would move to surround him with their weapons drawn. Okkeus would immediately notice some of the men wearing stormtrooper armour. Pemblad spotted the lightsaber, and activated his comms. "Sir, lightsaber spotted. It appears we only have one target. Unsure whether or not this man is a force user."

"Copy SSG. Apprehend the man. Pirates and spacers aren't known for carrying lightsabers."

"Yes sir. CPL Krez, PVT Zeek, apprehend the man. Proceed with caution. We don't know who he is." The two men nodded and approached Okkeus. Once in range the two men would attempt to grab him and force him to the ground. If that was successful they would handcuff him, keeping him on the floor. The force the two men went with was quite hard and if Okkeus had been grabbed being forced on the ground would definitely hurt.

The men entered the room. I just kept breathing steadily, waiting for them to open fire. Instead, my mouth and nose were filled with smoke, right after a bang. I coughed a little bit, more surprised than anything. But, I continued my steady breathes. Without even opening my eyes I could sense the man in front of my with his gun drawn.

"Man spotted. Sitting on the floor."

I didn't move a muscle. My guess was this officer was a trained military man, and his draw might be quicker than mine. No reason to take the risk, so I continued breathing steadily.

Opening my eyes the smallest amount possible, not enough for the officer to see, I notice his head jerking toward my saber. Should I grab it? No, the are not being hostile. Sure, there are guns pointed all around me, but no fighting has happened yet.

"Sir, lightsaber spotted. It appears we only have one target. Unsure whether or not this man is a force user."

Smirking, I continue to watch the scenario. The men are still sweeping the room, looking for other targets. Beside my deactivated droid, I was the only one on board.

"Yes sir. CPL Krez, PVT Zeek, apprehend the man, Proceed with caution. We don't know who he is."

The men motioned toward me slowly. I could see them slightly shaking, almost afraid of me.

"My name is Okkeus Dainlei, and there will be no need to apprehend me."

I was right, they do have a fast draw. In seconds the men were all pointing there guns at me.

"Okkeus Dainlei, mine name is SSG Shaset Pemblad, you are being apprehending for possible pirate affiliation. Do not resist."

Still smirking, I fully opened my eyes. I relaxed my shoulders. Looking straight at the officer, I waved my mechanical left arm in front of him.

"Tell your men to stand down. I will come with you if you do not apprehend me. I am not a threat."

Pemblad seemed shocked for a moment, then he waved his hands in a 'clam down' gesture.

"Alright men, stand down. This man is will come with us. Do not apprehend him. He is not a threat."

Surprised, the soldiers lowered their weapons the their sides. I grabbed my lightsaber, stood up, and hooked it to my belt.

"You lead the way." I said, gesturing toward the door.

Pemblad began to walk with me following behind, his men in close tow. We continued down the hallway until we were at his ship. Walking through the seal, I stepped aboard the shiny ship. It looked like it was rarely used it was so clean. The soldiers passed me, taking their seats. Finding an empty one, I sat down and strapped in. Pemblad entered the control room.

"Detach from the 'Blue Lightning' and head back to dock up with the MS Judicator."

The pilots nodded their heads and detached. We began our flight toward the Judicator. I placed my mechanical hand on my saber, taking a deal breathe. These men are here to help me. No need to start any trouble.

Kenth was furious. He threw his datapad across the bridge, smashing it into the floor. Not only had he lost control of his own men but the transport ship holding the majority of the Adjudicator Security Forces had seemed to be tricked into following Okkeus' demands. Kenth had known about Jedi mind tricks. Or were they Sith mind tricks. Either way Kenth didn't care as all he knew a force user who had managed to sway his will over his boarding party was coming to meet him. Kenth turned towards the bridge. "Once Staff Sergeant Pemblad's team escort him onto the ship have his squad relieved and sent to the medbay. Send the wardroids to escort this Okkeus to my quarters. Ensign Dan'arla, clear a path to the bridge and seal it from the rest of the crew. Prime corridor point defence turrets and have them be ready if our guest has any more tricks up his sleeves. Have 2 wardroids sent with my to my quarters. While this force magic has its limits I will take no chances with him. This little brat thinks he's so mighty with his force powers but I'll show him true power." he said before storming off to his office with 2 Cyclops Battle Droids following him.

Once he arrived at his quarters he opened up a communications channel to the Hauler. "Captain. I have a message for our guest. If you'd be so kind as to pass Staff Sergeant Pemblad your communicator so I may relay it to him." The officer nodded and simply looked over to Pemblad.

"Staff Sergeant. Bring this holocommunicator to the guest in our hold. I suspect you and your team shall be bringing him aboard the judicator as well. Speaking of which we will be arriving shortly so be prepared to depart."

Pemblad nodded and simply replied with "Yes sir." This wasn't the first time Pemblad acted as a courier boy and he doubted it would be his last. But he left his retirement for life as a soldier once more so he pretty much asked for it. He took the holocommunicator down to Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei and activated it. Kenth Berik was seen sitting at his desk with two Cyclops battle droids behind him.

Kenth immediately started speaking "I suppose you believe your little mind trick was smart. Well believe me I don't take people messing with my men kindly. As soon as you dock with Judicator, which is happening momentarily, my personal battle droids shall escort you to my office where we shall discuss your ship and your recent actions. If you comply there shall be no harm done to you. Make no mistake, I'm not some pirate scum. I'm a Mercenary and professionals have standards. Staff Sergeant you and your men will receive your next orders from the wardroids"

Pemblad looked down at the holocommunicator and nodded before it turned off. "Mind trick? I've no recollection of a mind trick" he thought to himself. At that moment the ship shook as it docked with the Judicator, interrupting his train of thought. Pemblad looked down to Okkeus. "Alright up you get. Here I thought I'd be shooting pirates. Instead I'm passing you off to a few droids."

The doors of the area they were in would open and six battle droids walked into the room. They spoke with a dull robotic voice. "Individual Okkeus Dainlei located. Individual Okkeus Dainlei. We are to escort you to Captain Berik's quarters. Individual Okkeus Dainlei. Any attempted resistance will be met with immediate termination"

Another robot spoke as soon as the first finished. "Individual Shaset Pemblad located. Individual Shaset Pemblad. You and your squad are to hand over Individual Okkeus Dainlei to Droid Squad designation 7425. Individual Shaset Pemblad. You and your squad are to report to Judicator medbay."

"Medbay? Why does the Captain want us at the kriffing medbay?" he thought to himself before shrugging. Orders were orders and Pemblad knew this "Alright. You heard the droid. Off to the medbay with us. For whatever reason that may be."

The remaining wardroids awaited Okkeus and escort him to the Captain's quarters.

I felt somewhat cocky. Just having convinced these men to not harm me felt almost like an achievement. Never once used Jedi Mind Tricks in public before. Chuckling to myself I thought, maybe these men weren’t so bad after all. I look up to see Pemblad walking toward me.

“This is for you.”

I took the holocommunicator from his hands and looked at it. Suddenly, an image appeared in front of me. Without his even talking I realized this must be their captain, Kenth. Two large droids sat behind him, as if they were guarding him from some unseen threat. He began to speak.

“I suppose you believe your little mind trick was smart. Well beli-”

It felt like a hole inside of me had opened up. This man knew. This man knew about what I did.

“-which is happening momentraily, my personal battle droids shall esc-”

Personal battle droids? This man must have been furious. I start to shake, my brain not processing what might happen to me. What if I never saw my ship again?

“-comply there shall be no harm done to you. Make no mistake, I’m not some pirate scum.”

Ouch, that hurt. I have some friends that are pirates. Does this man think he can just boss everyone around? I asked for help repairing my ship, not a man to govern and control what I do.

“-a Mercenary and have professional standards. Staff Sergeant-”

Pemblad took the holocommunicator away from me. Apparently I wasn’t supposed to hear the next part. I worried for my safety. But, I must remain calm. Deep breathe in, deep breathe out. My hand clenched tighter on my lightsaber.

Pemblad said some words to me as I stood up. I didn’t pay attention though, I only looked ahead. Ahead at my fate. The doors opened to reveal six battle droids. I gulped. This can’t be good. I was supposed to be escorted by them to Captain Berik’s quarters, while Pemblad and his crew were sent to a medbay.

“Medbay? Why does the Captain want us at the kriffing medbay?”

I laughed out loud. It must have been my mind trick. They thought I brainwashed them or something. All I did was make everything more convenient for all of us.

“You are to remain quiet Okkeus Dainlei.”

I can’t even laugh? What sort of tight shift are they running here.

“Alright, alright” I said, raising my hands in the air in a surrendering motion.

I followed the two battle droids in front of me, while two more took up the rear. We walked down the hallways toward the captain’s quarters. The hallways were very dull, either painted in black or grey. The only breakup of color was the signs above the doors.

“So, do you guys get out much?”

“You are to remain quiet Okkeus Dainlei.”

“Yeesh.”

All of a sudden, the two droids in front of me stopped. My hand went straight for my lightsaber, ready to fight. What was going on? The two droids spun around to face me.

“You are to enter this room and speak with Captain Berik. If you are to become hostile, we are programmed to kill.”

One droid stepped to his left, the other to their right. Behind them was a door.

“Alright, good talk fellas.”

A droid stuck his arm into a control panel, spinning it around till it made a ‘click” noise. The door opened to reveal a man sitting at his desk, waiting. I walked into the room, nervous, and sweating a little.

Watched as Okkeus Dainlei Okkeus Dainlei walked through the doors. "The man himself. Captain of the Blue Lightning and wielder of the force." Kenth stood up once he finished that sentence, in his hand he had a glass of what looked like Brandy. He calmly pushed a glass towards him. Kenth began to analyse the man. Fully armoured and has a lightsaber. That was all he could get so far.

"Soulean Brandy. I suspect the scum of this region would kill each other for such I drink but I digress. I have a few questions for you Okkeus. I'm sure if you cooperate we'll get back to each others business in no time. You can go back to whatever you and your fellow outer rim low-lifes do and I can go back to restoring order in the inner rim."

Kenth took another sip finishing his brandy. "First of all. Who are you and why were you out here. I'll properly introduce myself first if that makes you anymore willing to talk."

"I am Captain Kenth Berik. CEO of the Adjudicator mercenary company and Commander of this fine squadron. A squadron which could destroy your ship at any moment if you decide to try and escape"
He said with a smirk. The man sounded slightly over his head and perhaps a bit too proud of his small patrol fleet

"Oh and don't get the impression that your little force magic will work on me. Staff Sergeant Pemblad's a good soldier but he is old, and so is his mind. I however am not and I'm sure that these droids behind me aren't affected by it either" he asked calmly waiting for a response.

I took a seat in front of Kenth. He seemed overconfident, almost like he had caught me in some sort of major intergalactic crime. All I did was trick so people with the force. No biggy. Kenth slid me a glass of some sort of brownish liquid. My head moved downward, inspecting the drink.

"Soulean Brandy. I suspect the scum of this region would kill each other for such I drink but I digress. I have a few questions for you Okkeus. I'm sure if you cooperate we'll get back to each others business in no time. Brandy? Oh no. That is some sort of alchohol, isn't it? I have never had alcohol before. I'm only sixteen, not even old enough to go into bars. I kept my cool though, not wanting to give this man any advantage over me. It felt like he was staring right through my helmet. This wasn't good. He took a drink of the brandy. Well, it wasn't really a drink. It was a long, slow, drug out sip that made a small noise.

"First of all. Who are you and why were you out here. "

I opened my mouth, ready to talk, but I was cut off. Wow, man sure did like talking.

"I'll properly introduce myself first if that makes you anymore willing to talk. I am Captain Kenth Berik. CEO of the Adjudicator mercenary company and Commander of this fine squadron. A squadron which could destroy your ship at any moment if you decide to try and escape"

I froze even more than I already was. Even though Kenth seems full of himself and his crew, he did have a lot of firepower. One wrong word and I could be blown to bits, along with my ship. I shivered and began to sweat. This is going well.

"Oh and don't get the impression that your little force magic will work on me. Staff Sergeant Pemblad's a good soldier but he is old, and so is his mind. I however am not and I'm sure that these droids behind me aren't affected by it either."

"I'm not going to do any mind tricks on you, Kenth. I only did that for my own safety."

I must have pricked a nerve, because Kenth's face went sour. Real sour.

"First of all, that is Captain Berrik to you, you pirate scum! And secondly I do not care about your safety! You use your Jedi wizard magic on my men, and shall not be tolerated!"

The two droids in the back must have noticed the anger in the room, because there guns pointed straight at me. I stood up, knocking my chair down. The glass of brandy Kenth had gave me fell of the desk, shattering on to the floor.

"Okkeus Dainlei, stand down or we will fire upon you."

My hand reached for my lightsaber. I was seconds away from igniting it, killing the droids, and finding a way out of here. But then Kenth spoke.

"Droids, stand down. I will handle this myself."

I stood standing, my hand almsot grabbing my lightsaber. The tension in the room was high. The droids complied and stood straight against the wall. I picked my chair up and set it upright. Kenth motioned for me to sit down as he lowered himself not his chair. Wearily, I sat.

"If that were to happen again, you are not going to be so lucky. Now, I will not proceed to be threatened by a pirate under a helmet. Take that stupid thing off along with that armor and talk to me like the 'real' Jedi you are."

I stood up and pushed my chair back. I turned and took a couple of steps toward the door. Faintly, I could hear the droids' blasters shifting. Looking away from Kenth, I took my helmet off. I rarely remove my helmet in front of people. I set it on the ground next to me. My short, brown hair glistened with sweat, along with a drop running down my neck. Proceeding to take off my armor pieces one by one, setting them on the ground. By the time my last piece was off, I stood there in my black Jedi training robes. Blue stripes ran down my back in an 'x' shape, with a 'v' shape on the front.

Turning back to Kenth, his face dropped. He was not expecting a sixteen year old boy to be standing in front of him. I sat down in the seat, my lightsaber hitting the metal chair with a 'ting'.

"So, are you ready to talk with this 'Jedi', or no?"

"Because either way, you being a bit young doesn't stop me from destroying your ship and handing over you to planetary authorities for smuggling. Isn't that what you outer rim scum do? Or are you too good for that? Perhaps I can give you to the Sith Empire for being a Jedi."

Kenth poured Okkeus' cup of brandy back into the bottle. "But I digress little Jedi. You still haven't answered my first question. Why are you out here. The Outer Rim that is. On some mission for your order? Or perhaps you've gone rouge?"

Kenth sat down on his chair once more. "Once you've had time to think and answer that question of mine I want you to consider this. If I am to help you, what's in it for me?" With that Kenth stopped and waited for a response. He had also noticed that Okkeus had reached for his lightsaber and while he had diffused the situation he had activated the silent alarm in his desk. LT Trunden waited outside the door. His squad had been briefed on the individual inside and so they had made their way as quietly as they could to the Captain's Office. Trunden had no idea whether or not the jedi had sensed the squad stacking up. It didn't matter to him though. If the Jedi didn't know they were there then they would have the element of surprise. If he did know they were there then he would know how hopelessly outnumbered he was. Trunden himself was wearing parts of his old stormtrooper armour. The same went with most of his squad. Most were veterans and together they looked like a squad of mixed up stormtroopers. Didn't matter though because they knew how to get the job done. The LT looked to the pointman and signed that they were to await further orders. The pointman was a hulking Yinchorri, Scales. He was one of the lizard folk who wore his old modified trooper armour. The troopers waited, standing like statues ready to spring to life at any second.

“-being young doesn’t stop me from destroying your ship and handing over you to planetary authorities for smuggling. Isn't that what you outer rim scum do? Or are you too good for that? Perhaps I can give you to the Sith Empire for being a Jedi."

This was getting out of control. Kenth was on his last nerve, and I could sense the men standing outside of the door. Some more things were said, but I was thinking about what I should say. Kenth mentioned “going rogue”, but I wasn’t listening.

"Once you've had time to think and answer that question of mine I want you to consider this. If I am to help you, what's in it for me?"

“I am out here on a personal mission. I’m looking for a planet that was from my childhood. Personal debts of mine need to be settled there.”

Seeing Kenth was intrigued, I decided to continue on some more, but without giving up to much info.

“During my childhood, I was on this planet, um...’training’, and I’m wish to return there to continue some of my work.”

Kenth leaned back in his chair, his hands pressed together, almost like he was praying. He was interested in this planet.

“So, what do I get out of this deal?”

I didn’t have much to offer Kenth. Besides, I was the one needed stuff from him, not vice versa.

“I only have a few thousand credits to my name, so I can give you those if you want.”

“No, no. I don’t want your credits. I want something more.”

Shivering, I wondered what he could have possible wanted.

He had learned in the past that there was a time the First Galactic Empire had ruled over most of the galaxy including the Outer Rim, which to Kenth was now filled with radicals and outlaws. Perhaps this was a chance to showcase his Squadron's ability to restore order to a planet independent of any client or contract. Kenth seemed to calm down a bit at the thought of this.

"Tell me more about this planet of yours. What's it called, what sort of government does it have and what type of people does it have." he asked in quick succession. "And please cooperate Jedi. While this planet of yours does interest me remember who is in control here. I could throw you out an airlock and make my way back to Imperial space on a whim."

Kenth thought more on Okkeus and the world he was travelling to. He thought of how many troops he was carrying. Whether or not the single deployment company would be enough. So many questions and the answers to all would depend on Okkeus' response. For the time being Kenth wouldn't share his desire to bring order to worlds once belonging to the Galactic Empire of old and would instead leave his motive a mystery to Okkeus. The only concern he did have about the world was whether or not there were other Jedi. Okkeus did he mention he was returning for some form of training.

All I did was smile. From what Kenth was saying, I could tell he wanted to take over the planet. But the funny thing is, that would be harder than it sounds.

"The planet is called Kricelos. The government is a modified democracy. But, here is the real kicker..."

I paused for a couple of seconds, letting the anticipation hang from Kenth. It was hard not to laugh. This man was not going to like the next part. I relaxed myself.

"...only Jedi and Sith are allowed on the planet."

Kenth's face was a mixture of confusion and frustrated. I could almost hear the gears in his head trying to figure out what I meant.

"Preposterous, there is no such planet like that."

"Oh, yes there is. I have heard tales of nonforce wielders who step foot on that planet. Let's just say they will never take any steps again. Or do anything again for that matter."

Looking up at Kenth, I could we the confusion on his face. Biting my tongue, I waited for his reply.

A world full of force users. Kenth looked down upon force users enough and now this man tells him of a whole world full of them. Kenth quickly activated his comms and spoke "Ensign Dar'nala, send all available information to my datapad about Kricelos."

The ensign was quick to respond. "Yes sir. It appears what Mr Dainlei says is true. Apart from that there is little information about it."

Kenth was attempting to learn everything he could about this planet but so far it seemed like a dead end. "I suspected as much. Thank you ensign." Kenth quickly skimmed over the information as it came through. Seemed to be a lot of speculations. Kenth suspected that the inhabitants didn't want anyone discovering whatever precious resource they have down there and according to rumours, neither did the planet.

"I was hopping your planet would be... More interesting. Instead it seems to be a cesspit of force fanatics and cultists" He said with a sigh. "No doubt Jedi and Sith. Both of whom I dislike. Jedi seem to believe their supposed moral high ground gives them authority and Sith simply demand it because of their greed." Kenth said, ranting on about his disdain for force users.

"So in short. You can offer me a mere few thousand credits and information on a planet I can't access because all none force users seemingly disappeared or died." Kenth said with a sigh as he scrolled through his datapad before something caught his eye. Orbital scans indicated no major settlements and instead isolated villages and abandoned ruins. With a small grin on his face he simply asked. "What sort of navy or orbital defences does this planet have?"

I watched Kenth’s eyes skim over the data pad. The expressions in his face changed every couple of seconds, as if some intriguing information just appeared in front of him. I can’t reveal to much about my home world. It would put everyone at risk.

"I was hopping your planet would be... More interesting.”

Phew, the “boring” planet is leading him off track. This could be it.

"No doubt Jedi and Sith. Both of whom I dislike.

Uh oh. I stiffens in my seat, the cold metal sending a chill down my spine. Still looking at the data pad, Kenth spoke again.

"So in short. You can offer me a mere few thousand credits and information on a planet I can't access because all none force users seemingly disappeared or died."

“Yes.”

But I don’t think Kenth heard my reply. Instead, a huge grin broke across his face. An evil, nasty smile.

"What sort of navy or orbital defences does this planet have?"

Shoot. I knew it. He is wanting to invade the planet.

“If you are trying to take over the planet, it won’t work. All non force wielders die there.

“That isn’t what I asked boy. What navy or orbital defense does this planet have?

I had to stall. Sweat ran down my neck, my leg bouncy up and down. I try calming myself, but it didn’t work. If he knew there were no orbital defenses on this planet, I could put everyone at risk. So I did the next best thing: lie.

“The planet is surrounded with force field. Not like a normal force field though. The shield has the same effect of the nexus, but on ships. Any ship that comes in contact with the shield is obliterated. Gone. Done for.”

Smirking a little, I listened for his reply, hoping he bought my fib.

Kenth thought for a moment. Surrounded by a force field. Kenth had heard of entire planets covered in ray shields before but this was different. The information on the planet indicated there were no major cities and to Kenth that meant no major technology. But then Okkeus mentioned this Nexus once more. Perhaps this nexus did truly attack all non force users. Kenth pulled out the information of the planet once more, skimming for any information on the shield. It again said the same information, mysterious planet of force users, all who step foot die, no major cities, etc.

"I was hoping there wouldn't be any more mysticism protecting their planet but according to you there is. If this force field does preve-" Kenth stopped speaking. A though had popped into his head and the small smirk developed on his face. "So this force field destroys ships according to you. If that is true, then why did you mention that non-force users who step foot on that planet are never heard of again? According to your information they should've died in orbit? Had their ship obliterated. But you and this datapad imply that they managed to land"

If Kenth was right then his plan was on track once more. He had yet been able to test the orbital bombardment capabilities of the Judicator and a planet full of filthy force users seemed like a good target.

This wasn’t good. My lie hadn’t worked. Kenth found a way around it. I had to try something else.

“A-as I said before, I have only heard tales. If you want to rest this out thought, be my guest.”

I chuckled a little. Nothing was funny about this. It was more of a nervous chuckle. A I’m-just-screwed-the-Nerf-up chuckle.

“I see. So, do you have anymore of these ‘tales’ Mr. Dainlei?”

My mind went blank. What else could I say? I decided to try with a little bit of my life on the planet. Well, within a lie.

“When I grew up the planet, many people had tried landing on it, hearing of an uninhabited planet ripe for the taking. These ships would try to get into the atmosphere, but they would get destroyed instantly. Twice, and only twice, did people get the chance to step on the planet. Once a woman’s ship fell to the planet in a ball of flame. Me and my, mm-hm, ‘master’ went to go check it out. When we got there, we saw her literally melting. It was gross.”

Kenth stayed still in his chair. Listening. Analyzing.

“The second time was a fearless pilot. He was able to enter the planet through hyperspace, bypassing the shield. Once on the planet, he began to step out of his small starfighter. As soon as he touched the ground, he melted like the girl.”

Wow, I need to stop lying so much. But, my home planet was at risk. So however much I would go against the Jedi code didn’t matter, only the safety of the planet and the people on it.

Kenth sat there, taking in the information.

Kenth nodded and after he had taken all the information in he seemed satisfied. He promptly stood up and walked over to the comms unit. "Bridge set a course for Kricelos. Prepare hyperspace assistance procedure with the Blue Lightning and have our technicians begin repairing the vessel. Our guest has provided me with some useful information." He said, looking to see if Okkeus gave some sort of response.

As soon as the ship entered hyperspace for Okkeus' homeworld Kenth spoke. "You seem a bit tense. Perhaps you're worried I might try and invade the planet. Let me confirm your fears. You mentioned that non-force users are effected by the Nexus so I will send in droids in drop pods. This planet is weak, it lacks order and from what I have read, Jedi and Sith can freely stock up on kyber crystals, items which have been known to be used for weapons of mass destruction. I will not allow this." Kenth seemed convince he was doing the right thing. In his mind the level of kyber crystals easily accessible by anyone posed a threat.

He would sit on his chair and his finger rested on the hidden silent alarm button. Kenth was having fun stressing this Jedi out but he knew that the jedi had the ability to fight back and so he must be prepared. "And if that doesn't work I'll simple test out my turbolaser batteries on your planet, and at the same time rid the galaxy of a few Jedi, or Sith. It doesn't matter to me. Oh I will also compensate you for the information you have provided. Your ship wis being repaired and you will be free to go. While I dislike force users I recognise when an asset has been useful"
