OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Military Base Name: Iron Heart
  • Classification: Rebel Outpost
  • Location: Lake Kelita on the outskirts of Kelita City, Mandalore
  • Affiliation: Mandalorian Rebels
  • Population:
    • Believed Uninhabited.
    • Holds Insignificant population
  • Demographics:
    • Mostly Mandalorian
    • Occasional Off-world treasure hunters and smugglers
    • Graug warbands
    • Alamite Tribes
    • Vongspawn mutants
    • Occasional Vong tribe
  • Accessibility: The region has been designated by the ISB as a "Dead Zone", eliminating the traffic of normal civilians. There is a joint Mandalorian-Imperial outpost several dozen miles out of the city to stop anyone foolish enough from venturing into the region but it is lightly staffed and people get through all the time seeking treasure and beskar'gam from fallen Mandalorians.
  • Description: Once an array of anti-vehicle and anti-capital ship artillery built for the defense of Kelita City and New Keldabe, now a shell of its former glory. Iron Heart, ostensibly a pair of old Spiezoc heavy artillery cannons, was the base of operations for the small rebellion on Mandalore. Both cannon emplacements in their heyday shared an underground shield generator that protected them from orbital bombardment and had enough firepower in their power cores to take down heavy cruisers that were stupid enough to enter Mandalore's atmosphere. Now? Between the pair only a single power core remains occasionally active, providing enough power for in-system communications, basic lights, heat, and other necessities. The shield generator was a pet project of one of the engineers with the rebels but it appeared that it had been supplied power from the Kelita Dam which after the Sith invasion and occupation had long since stopped working. The cannons were designated Tower One and Tower Two with two being the cannon that still retained power that needed to be siphoned off to Tower One. They both had small hangars which the freedom fighters held a transport and a handful of fighters between the pair. Underground, or rather underwater these days, was a network of tunnels meant to house a response garrison or act as an environmental emergency shelter. The tunnels connected to the ruins of both Kelita City and New Keldabe. The tunnels that were built to be underwater had thick windows that looked out into the depths of the lake. Some portions of those tunnels have flooded but a few still lead back to the cities.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Vhe'viin Way
- The maze of dry and partially flooded foot and rail tunnels that lead from the cannons and connected to other artillery installations and the two main cities of the area. It was dangerous with mutants, Vongspawn, Graug, and Alamites occasionally wandering in from the cities.
Tower Two - The main tower that the resistance resides in. It has the more reliable power situation and the bulk of the civilians and families.
Tower One - Less reliable power as it has to draw from Tower Two's power core. Most of the active rebels reside here unless they live with their families on Tower Two.

SECURITY: Low
Security is as tight as it can be, though with the wide array of secret tunnels leading up to them and the open nature of the now shield-less towers all they can really do is watch and listen for trouble. Luckily, Kelita and New Keldabe were among the cities hit the hardest by the Sith Invasion and the prevalence of Alamite tribes and roaming Graug in the area make the area almost entirely remote and untravelled by Imperial personnel. There are guards at two tunnel blast doors that lead out to the cities and two at the doors into the towers. Other than that, scouts regularly patrol the area around Iron Heart.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Once part of one of the strongest defensive arrays in the Outer Rim, now two beat-up old artillery towers, Iron Heart sits on the shores of Lake Kelita, another scar from Mandalorian infighting. While it was once thought of as a beautiful wound left from Mia Monroe and Ijaat Mereel's attempted destruction of the planet now the area sits, quiet and dead. Both Kelita City and nearby New Keldabe are infested with Graug holdouts, Vongspawn who have escaped the Vong Wastes, Alamites risen again from the depths of the earth, the area has been listed a "Dead Zone" by the ISB. Initially, the area had been scoured, only spared a true Base Delta Zero because of Tavlar's fondness for the Mandalorian people. The scouring nonetheless destroyed much of the area around the lake and disrupted its flow and destroyed the dam that powered the defensive array and the two cities. Out of the way of most regular Imperial patrols due to its danger and general lack of civilians, the two towers were found by the Mandalorian Rebellion after civilians using the underground and underwater tunnels were spotted and promised protection from the gruag and mutants.

Now it serves as one of several secret bases on the planet's surface.
