OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATIONSETTING INFORMATION
  • City Name: Keldabe; New Keldabe
  • [background=transparent]Classification: City[/background]
  • Location: Mandalore
  • Affiliation: Mando'ade
  • Demographics[background=#1e1e1e]: [/background][background=#1e1e1e]95% Mandalorian of various races[/background]
  • [background=#1e1e1e]5% Other[/background]
[*]Wealth: Medium
  • While Keldabe is one of the most important cities on Mandalore, it is by no means the largest. Surrounded on all sides by Lake Kelita most of the city's business comes from local beskar smiths, beskar mine owners, MandalMotors and tourists on their way to Padelfia City or Kelita City. Thus the city has been, much like it has in the past, been placed into mediocrity. This doesn't mean however that the Mandalorians don't take pride in the city, as for many it is still considered the Cultural Center or capital of Mandalore despite the Mandalorian Empire taking Sundari as its capital.
[*]Stability: High
  • With a large Mandalorian Empire military presence and the steady work provided by the locals and MandalMotors either in its tower, convention center or just across the lake, most people here are content and the area has more or less become a place of neutrality within the Mandalorian Empire despite it being the seat of power for the Mandalorian Rebels during the Mandalorian Civil War. Its significance to the Mandalorian people kept them from letting the city become more broken than it already was.
[*]Description: Once a proud military fort city sitting atop a hill surrounded on nearly all sides by the Kelita River, since Mandalore's destruction at the hands of Mia Monroe and company, Keldabe has become a city surrounded on all sides by the new Lake Kelita. With much of its ancestral buildings gone and the surrounding mines and small towns swallowed up by the river, the hilltop town has become an island city. Water locked from the rest of the planet large bridges and MandalRail lines connect it to the surrounding Kelita Valley and Kelita City, a new Corporate City sponsored entirely by MandalMotors. With such attractions as the Oyu'baat Cafe and Hotel now basically water front property, the city has been forced to shift from the farming and mining lifestyle they had before to fishing and underwater mining. Several ports are scattered along the edge of the city. Dirt paths have for the most part been replaced by clean city streets near the city center where the MandalMotors Tower, MandalMotors Convention Center, and the TSAC meet.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • The Docks: While shipping via waterways has mostly gone away, it is still one of the fastest and cheapest ways to transport large quantities of beskar in and out of the city. The docks are also where most of the mining operations reside now as all of the beskar that was in the surrounding area has been submerged beneath Lake Kelita. Large cranes and small starship and airspeeder hangars dot the docks along with fish markets and small family owned beskar smith shops. Most of the paths here are still dirt as these were the closest to the edge of the city before the flooding.
  • City Center: Comprised of the MandalMotors Tower, MandalMotors Convention Center, the Mandalorian Empire military offices, and the TSAC the city center is a bustle of activity. With one of the largest star ports and military bases on Mandalore the city consistently sees military starships fly in and out. It is also a bustle of tourist traffic as they head to places like Padelfia City and Kelita City on business trips.
  • The Oyu'baat Tapcaf: The oldest building of Keldabe, it has been standing for thousands of years. Many believe it is protected by the Manda because no matter how many invasions or how many times Keldabe has fallen, the one thing that remains is the Oyu'baat Tapcaf. Settled in on the outskirts of town, it faces Kelita City and is right on the water. Despite its water front view, it remains off the radar of all but the bravest tourists due to its policy on weapons and armor. Most Mandalorians wear their armor and open carry their weapons in the tapcaf.
  • Underwater Graveyard: Including the Rekali Mine, all of the beskar mines that had surrounded Keldabe before have been taken beneath the waves of Lake Kelita. This includes however the small mining town of Little Keldabe. Now an underwater graveyard it has become a hidden taboo tourist spot. Shrouded in Mandalorian superstition and held as a mass grave for those who perished in Mandalore's destruction it is generally forbidden by de facto local laws.
  • Underwater Mines: Rekali Mine has been completely submerged, making mining beskar even more difficult than it already was. Cave ins are now ten times more dangerous.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
For thousands of years Keldabe stood as the de facto capital of the decentralized government of the Mandalorian Clans. A proud city where old traditions met new technology with open arms it was the example of a Mandalorian City. Dusty roads and thousand year old buildings stood alongside advanced towers and star ports. However during the downturn of the Mandoalrian Clans, a traitor, corrupted by a vision of prosperity for the Mandalorians returned to the planet and laid waste to the surface of Manda'yaim. The resulting volcanic eruptions and seismic activity threw the planet into a state of chaos as fires ravaged the land, rivers flooded cities and homesteads, and thousands of years of infrastructure was destroyed.

Keldabe was not spared from this fate and as the Kelita River swelled around it forming Lake Kelita the once Hilltop Fort City of Keldabe became a waterfront island city. Cut off from land travel and with much of its land flooded most fled the city and moved to relief cities like Padelfia or Sundari. Some even left the planet entirely. However, thanks to the efforts of governments and Jedi from around the Galaxy along with MandalMotors and the Mandalorians the city began to recover. However, when both Mia Monroe and Ra Viszla returned to Mandalore, a Civil War would rock Keldabe to its core. Destroying both MandalMotors Tower and MandalMotors Hall, two of the city's greatest landmarks were destroyed in the ensuing battle. For a time during the Civil War Keldabe stood as the home of what would become known as the Mandalorian Rebels who were led by Mia Monroe, Gilamar Skirata, and Jaster Ordo.

After the Civil War the Mandalorian Empire under Ra Viszla would take Sundari as its capital, likely due to the city being mostly intact, even after the Civil War due to its sturdy construction of beskar and its protective environmental dome. Keldabe was slowly rebuilt over a long period of time after MandalMotors gave around 70% of its total revenue to the Mandalorian people to rebuild the city and build its new sister city, nearly bankrupting the company. Finally complete the city stands smaller and more compact than it once was, but stronger than ever.
