Suggestion Invasion Criteria and Feedback

People use it in a negative way.

Do you think that people are better off being kept in the dark about decision-making like they are currently? We have people leaving the site for a lack of transparency, I think that calls for some discussion even if the head admin made a stance already.
Time to move on.
I don't think that's a productive attitude to have when it's a pressing issue on the site for many people and for many writers, and for some overtly stated reasons of why people have left Chaos after being here for years.

Are people against letting the dice decide the results at the end?

I feel in general, many major factions have amazing writers and tell great stories - so it would be impossible to judge a 'winner.' I feel for you, staff. Would also be curious to see in the last year or two stats on factions (still around today) for #s on invasion wins/losses. If there are rumblings of 'unfairness' that could potentially prove or disprove a point.

Like:
FactionWinsLosses
TSO31
THR32
TSC22
etc...

But that's the girl who loves stats/math in me. IDGAF to actually do this. Just a suggestion for the complaints on 'ppl already think staff are bias.'

Overall, I, as a writer, care more about the story and theater of the mind. There's a lot of good character growth and drama with losses.

The rest of this discussion is just gonna run in circles, a verdicts already been passed down.

There should be a poll. Then staff and the community have undeniable proof if there is a large problem, or if it is a very small minority of unhappy people. I would like staff to have such a thing to turn around and tell those people if it is the latter. That way these types of threads can die off because everyone knows there isn't actually an issue with invasions like some people are claiming that there is.

If such a poll proves that it is half the community, or more than half, then giving us a blanket 'no' isn't sufficient.

It isn't that deep bro. Let it go. And it can't be that pressing to only come up this infrequently.

I’m not saying this happens… but when Tef rolled out this new system he explained that if it came down to a coin flip that was fine.

Now, here’s the other thing no one is saying.

Some Sith faction wins…
Someone not from some Sith Faction asks… why did we lose?

It’s like clockwork.

When summaries were a thing MFOs:
1. stressed about getting them in on time
2. actively looked for drama so they try to sway that category

Site Staff:
1. had to read them
2. had to write them which could be boiled down to… faction A wrote a better story than faction B

There's a lot of truth in this. And I'm tiered of seeing writers chased off the site.

How can we fix this?

The context of the post you have decided to latch onto seems to make it seem like staff is bullying people off the site. That’s so laughable, and isn’t even the point of this thread. That kind of accusation serves no one.

Definitely a unique suggestion, but I'm not sure how many factions would be up for letting a dice roll determine invasions.

I didn't say anything about staff.

There is also no accusation. I know people who have left and have told me the reasons they have left.

Stop worrying about the categories for win. Focus on your story, your faction, have fun. If you win you win, if you lose you lose. Leave everything else for the staff to decide. Nothing about how the decision came about should ever be divulged to the community, it’s none of our concern, the story and the fun along the way is.

And you guys think you could handle being told you lost an invasion with several explanations as to.
I think this is a poor representation of many people's arguments and also not very constructive. That's speculating on people's reactions to things that have not happened, and accusatory that the people here are emotionally immature to handle being told "no".

This is a civil discussion about what people are unhappy with or concerned with at the moment, not a place for jabs at your fellow writers. People are free and should be encouraged to share their concerns and their respectful disagreements with site staff. You've made a comment that is neither helpful or productive, and frankly mean-spirited. I would ask you to prevent doing so in the future
I think the majority of this thread post staff saying no is indicative of an inability to accept a decision.

God forbid if it was a detailed invasion decision breakdown.
Have you never disagreed with your boss and laid out why you think they can do better?
A problem… but not one this thread is trying to solve.
It's coincided, or at least, a part of the problem that I've seen festering in Chaos the last few months and years now, even. I think the return of transparency would alleviate other people's concerns with trust in the site staff.

God forbid if it was a detailed invasion decision breakdown.

And then after being told you lost, you had the option to second chance the invasion judgment and then another admin had to read the whole thread just to tell you "write your story better forehead" in italics

I totally didn't second chance an invasion result, whatchumean

I would suggest site staff host a poll asking if the community are unhappy with how invasions are right now. Cut through any debates or red tape and produce a number of how many people there are who feel like this. If there is big number of people unhappy with invasions then telling the community nothing will change isn't sufficient. If it is a small number of people then they can be told to kick rocks.

I'd actually be really curious to see these results - even if staff does nothing with it, I think it would be a good temperature check. Some of the rebuffs in this thread are boiling down to that it's only an issue for a small minority.

Is this true? A lot of folks, myself included, are hesitant to engage with these types of discussion threads. A poll might be able to capture a wider swath of the chaos community.

Also, the majority of invasions I've written in have ended up on the losing side, so…heywait a minute….

Yes, exactly.
