Haruun Kal, Gerwald felt at home among the forests of the planet. Were it not for the class he was meant to teach, the lupine would shed his clothes and run like a wolf through the many trees and new foliage the land begged him to explore. His sister Redd Redd had once made the observation Gerwald was more human than wolf, and even though he was equally both, he did live among the world of men more than the woods which called to him often. It had made him more emotional perhaps, but the beast within was still fierce. His instincts were not dulled because of it. If anything, Gerwald had learned to hone them, and trust them more, because of it.
Today was about learning new skills. Those who had accompanied him were there to teach or gain a new skill which would make them formidable in battle, or in whatever arena they chose to use the skills. For some it would be to heal what war had destroyed. They were as much needed as those who made war their occupation. Gerwald was the later. War was his world, and even among the Kinghts Obsidian, the Lord Marshall found himself on the field of battle often. These skills he would teach today had been used in such contexts, and lives had been lost to his use of them.
There was a clearing rumored to be in the center of the wood, and as usual Gerwald had no interest in being straight forward about why he had gathered the students which accompanied him.
"For those of you who have never taken part in the classes I teach, I hope you came prepared to run."
The lupine grinned. His attire was loose, a black long sleeve shirt with the sleeves pushed up just below his elbows. Even with only his forearms exposed it was evident the man was well built. His muscular physique was not hidden. Black pants covered his legs, along with black footwear which were made for a good run.
"Today you are going to connect with nature. Normally I would lead the way and have you follow me, but let's do something different. There is a clearing in the center of the wood. Reach out through the force. Find it. Run to it and meet me there. This is not a race, and there will be no prize for the first to find it. I simply expect that you will. If you cannot, then return to the ship."
Without another word to the students, Gerwald focused the force to his legs and sped off through the forest. He would be the first to arrive at the clearing and wait for the others to arrive.

The Training of One's Past.

Though Isley had not set foot upon Haruun Kal in decades, the circumstances of the day were all too familiar. His development as a wielder of the Force had seen many training sessions undertaken. Some upon blighted lands. Some within frigid spires. And some, like this day, within distant woods. The master of the day's learning was Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner - a faithful ally of his own apprentice Srina Talon Srina Talon . This day, the Sith had not come to the distant world as Vicelord of the Confederacy. In fact, he did not come in any official capacity whatsoever. This venture was solely for the benefit of another - a newfound student by the name Lavria Xedrim.

She, like all Isley had taken under his wing, had an ocean of potential just waiting to be tapped. Thus, ventures like today would expose her to the teachings of others - broadening her education. There were also benefits in learning alongside peers that could not be ignored.

In short order, their vessel - a Scimitar-class Star Courier - descended upon the wooded world. Isley was the first to disembark, wearing a rather comfortable ensemble. Typically, he would be been found wearing his armor or a tailored suit, depending upon which battlefield he was navigating. Today, he wore heavy boots, comfortable cargo pants, and a sleeveless shirt. A crimson poncho completed the attire. Their arrival was just in time to hear the directives of the Lord Marshal: find the clearing that he had designated via the Force. For Isley, the task would have been elementary - and thus he raised not a finger.

Instead, he turned to his student.

"You'll be our eyes." he said, before motioning towards the trees. "Take your time and focus. When you're ready, we'll begin."

TRAINING

There was no specific instruction that those who were running had to remain in their human forms, if they could change their form. Being surrounded by nature, having grass under their paws. He didn’t want to stay in the guise of a man when he could feel the wind through his fur. So one moment he was a man, in the next breath his body dissolved into a mist-like substance and in the time it took for a person’s heart to beat once, in his place was a three hundred pound patched colored canine.

It wasn’t a race, but this form was built to run and he did. He zig-zagged through the trees, jumping over bushes and just enjoyed heading in the direction he could Sense. The boundless earth, the living wood around him sang a symphony of details to his senses. He could even hear the Spirits whispering and for a breath he was tempted to enter the Nether to taste what this place looked like in that landscape, but refrained.

Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura was not here and he had made a promise not to venture there, no matter how tempting, unless she was there with him. So be it, but oh he wanted to Walk that divide. He gloried in his new found heritage as much as he did in learning to touch more the Force had to offer. Magic, the energy of life and everything in between was such a wonder to him. Even today, the reason he came, was to learn.

There was so much yet he hadn’t seen, hadn’t gained, an exciting prospect to a man who wanted to push himself as far as he could go. Whether it be by learning as much as he could or even as simple as testing himself against another. There was a near endless path showing him how far he had come, showing him how little he still knew. And he raced down it so that he could grasp it with all paws or both hands and make it his own.

When he made it to the clearing he danced around his other teacher, the sheer delight still flashing through every fiber. However he trotted a respectful distance before he changed back, but the wildness didn’t leave him. It was in his eyes, Eris his beastly soul, strong still. It wouldn’t be too long before he had to push him back reluctantly so he could focus.

The ride over for Adi was a quiet one. She kept to herself, and to her thoughts as she awaited the frigate to land on the planet that held the training session she had been sent too. Voph, always finding ways to grow and push her, felt that this would be a worthwhile adventure for her.... and it would be a good way to test and measure how far along her force sight had developed. She sensed the frigate landing, and with a loud thud, and shut down of its reactors the cargo door opened and Adi gently stood and walked out into the opening.

Her clean braided hair sat gently on her shoulder, her apparel as she moved down the ramp, never really changed much, regardless of the exercise. It was a futile and meaningless exercise for one who couldn’t see to worry about things such as clothing. However, as she approached the circle, while awaiting Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner to speak, the instructor of this exercise, she began to remove the unnecessary items that might hinder. She removed the shaw she had on. She unbuttoned her blouse, revealing a tank top, and slipped into a more modest short sleeve shirt. She went into a stretch as she began to feel out into the forest clearing. Voph had pushed her, he had been very insistent on Adi being aware at all times, regardless of fatigue... this was something she hoped, would come in handy for the day. A male voice broke the air as she stood upright and listened to his instructions. Fairly simply, and fairly straight forward. The man sped off at the end of his speech, leaving the apprentices and others to their own devices. She simply inhaled and centered herself.

To all life, there is rhythm... it was up to her to find it in all settings. She took a step forward, and then, broke out into a sprint. The crunch, and crackling of the underbrush beneath her gave off ripples against all other inanimate objects, she weaved in and out of the path. She sensed the life in the place as she ran, indigenous species to this planet, scattered across the landscaping... these were not what she needed to focus on. She extended her reach out as she felt ahead, sensing for people, for the instructor... and eventually found him, found the rhythm that was his life force within the cleaning that he had spoken of in the meeting. She came to a jog as she began to approach the clearing, fixing her braid as she came to a stop now, standing within the clearing.

Every time Palm was surrounded by nature, she was unable to shake the feeling that the trees should be taller, the rocks larger and the soil nothing but a promise of pain several meters below her. Geminidae was a land of giants, and it belonged to those that dwelled in its heights. Her hands and arms immediately itched with the need to grab on to the nearest surface and climb it, while at the same time feeling the frustration of knowing it would not be enough. It would not be like it was in her homeworld.

She was not used to traversing a forest by running on its ground but by balancing and sorting through the loosely connected nets of thick branches, several meters above. Yet this was not her homeworld, and she knew these branches would be too thin or too scarce to attempt such a venture. Today she'd run, just like the rest of them.

Once Gerwald had given his instructions, Palm nodded before setting her focus to the task at hand. A small smile tugged at the corner of her lips as she allowed her mind to drift onto the ever flowing Force, feeling the life that buzzed around her incessantly. Everything was connected, and everything was unique. The fact that nature here did not quite resemble the nature she missed did not mean she would enjoy it less. After all, it was no secret that the Ambassador would take a trip to the middle of nowhere surrounded by leaves and dirt over a conference room without a second question.

Soon enough she had begun her own race, dodging trees, feet intuitively landing on safe soil. Her muscles seemed to tense up in joy at the missed exertion, and her body seemed to push itself out of its own volition until Palm could feel her heart beating faster and stronger, fresh air entering her lungs in deep breaths. There was so many presences around them that the areas where they were less dense stuck out like a sore thumb to someone as adept to force sensing as the soll'nav were.

Gerwald had made it clear that this was not a race, and trusting that she would be able to feel the others arrive at the clearing, Palm made sure to enjoy her way there. There was no need to hasten her own arrival when her taking a bit longer than necessary would not hold the class back anyways. After some of the students had reached the location, Palm would finally realign her direction until she broke through the treeline and into the clearing.

Unlike the rest of the Knights Obsidian that would be present, Palm had been skittish about making herself present in this lesson. Chances were the lessons would be on powers that were forbidden to her. But her curiosity had been stronger than her caution, and there was nothing wrong in just learning.

There was a cold that ran through Beric's bones.

He was not so accustomed to being in the presence of so many users of the dark side of the force, those who chose to pervert its nature towards their own purpose. What felt like a wound waxed and ebbed in strength around him as Beric tried to clear his mind from the dark distraction. This had been why he had tried his best to steer clear away from the Citadel and their concentration of dark users and stuck exclusively to outposts like the reserve at Monastery, or Frosthall itself.

But more importantly, he couldn't allow it to cloud or distract his apprentice's mind. Beric had brought Millu so that she could get the experience and try find the key to unlocking control over her powers. The Lord of Frosthall was more than confident in his ability in controlling the elements, but he was not so arrogant as to think that he was a master in its every form; even he could potentially learn something new.

As the Lupine gave the instructions and raced off deeper into Haruun Kaal's forest, Beric turned towards Millu, putting a supporting hand on her shoulder. "I'm confident that you'll be able to do this," he confided. "Follow my lead."

He dropped to the ground, touching the mix of fallen leaves and dirt that made up the forest's earthen floor. It was a move that he did not need to do, but for Millu the physical contact might make it easier. As he indicated for Millu to do the same, he posed a familiar question: "Now, Millu, where is the force?"

He still haunted her.

Master Elwin Zul's glazed over eyes of death and shocked face still appeared to her at times. But these visits had grown sparser since she became Apprenticed to another Sith Lord. At first she had dreaded being bound to another one, but Darth Metus was different from her previous Master in every way and had not held back on his teachings.

Lavria had always prided herself in her abilities, but ever since she started listening to this man, she had learned that the possibilities were truly endless. Apparently, the learning curve he was taking her on today, would be one more stone to pave that road to true strength and release.

Good.

She needed that road built sooner rather than later. The haunting face had to be buried underneath a wealth of Dark Power. It was the only way.

They touched down on Haruun Kal just in time to hear the directive given by a man whom Lavria could sense was powerful in his own right, before he sped off into the jungle.

At her Master's request, Lavria closed her eyes and tapped into the familiar flow of Force to feel her way through it to the clearing. When she saw it, her golden eyes snapped open and she was gone in a blur of movement. Weaving through the trees and launching over fallen trunks, she relied completely on the Force to keep her on track. She did glance around once to see if her Master was keeping up.

It did not take her long at all to reach the clearing where her other teacher was waiting for her and the others to arrive.

Millu looked around at the folks gathered in the forest, there in that planet that was still unknown to her. Her master seemed a bit uncomfortable, she guessed it was because of the dark side users present, who formed the great majority of the students and masters present for this training session.

The girl half-understood his unease. Dark side users scared and most definitely intimidated her a bit, but Millu had met some like Sabine Delacroix Sabine Delacroix back on that mess in Ryloth that seemed so long ago now, and she wasn't all bad. On the contrary, if it hadn't been for Sabine, Millu would probably have died stupidly defending that terrorist. That I didn't know was a terrorist. That goes for not judging people by appearance.

She had been a bit skeptic about joining this class, seeing as just about all the training sessions she'd had with Beric had been all but sucessful. But Millu knew that her apparent inability to control the Force at will probably frustrated her master just as much as it did her, and thus she decided to take this opportunity to try once more as well. The Lupine's orders seemed easy enough, if the girl wasn't almost a hundred percent certain that everything would still probably feel like a blur.

Millu's attention was called back to the present by her master's conforting hand on her shoulder. Most of the students were already departing, each going their own way in search of the clearing, and after shaking her head to clear it, she dropped to the ground beside her master, feeling a wave of determination wash over her. She had to get this right.

Once again she was brought out of her musings by Beric's now familiar question as she touched her hand to the forest floor. She closed her eyes and tried reaching out as she responded. "The force is around me. It's inside me, and in you, and in everything and everyone else."

She frowned in concentration as a faint glowing outline of her surroundings formed in her mind's eye, before blurring away in a pang of fear as she tried to hold on to the presences that once again, slipped through her fingers. Millu sighed in frustration as she opened her eyes. "Or at least, it's supposed to be..."

The Pale Witch looked back over her shoulder in the direction of a gathering on the planet. Only a moment passed before she resumed her quiet conversation with a local inhabitant of the realm. Not one, perhaps, many would come to expect, but then what else would a Witch commune with?
Their conversation was over with both parties sensing the intent of the gathering to draw near. With that, Vytal drew a cloak of invisibility around herself as she turned to stride off to one side. Her boots crossed over the clearing until the Nightmother took position along side a tall and thick tree. No need for anyone to bump into her upon their arrival, whether it be by foot or some other flashy means.
It would be interesting to 'audit' this little training session. Not that Vytal doubted Gerwald's abilities, so much that they had little meaningful interaction. With the Academy brought down, she fully intended to ensure the Knights remain educated. Opportunities like this one were beneficial for all those able to wield the Force, or magick. Best to ensure their success, and contemplate future subjects of use or interest to those of all skill levels.
Also, Vytal was curious how Gerwald intended this group to 'connect' with nature. She expected it would involve more than running around and gnawing on something with one's own teeth. The Witch did think not think so little of his capabilities. Perhaps she would learn something of him and his view on nature.

"It is there," Beric replied firmly to Millu's added statement of doubt. "It is everywhere. It is in you. It surrounds you," he elaborated with sincerity. He knew that his apprentice struggled to connect to the force outside of instinctive moments; it was her trial that she must overcome. Beric could not do it for her, but he could at least show her the way.

"Here," Beric said, taking her smaller hand in his larger, calloused one, and set it back on the ground under his. "There are times when emotion, pain, or exhaustion may trick you. You'll feel cut off, isolated." Beric spoke of the hypothetical, but in many ways, he was addressing Millu and where mentally she was now. "But that is an illusion. Wherever this clearing it, it lies out of reach, out of sight. But you remain connected through the force."

"Now,"
he said, pressing her hand more firmly to the ground, "Reach out. Feel that energy around you. Ignore all other distractions. Concentrate on what you want to find, and you will be able to find it."

There numbers were few, and becoming fewer it seemed. yet Gerwald was pleased with the turnout he saw among those that had arrived. He would not let it show, but the presence of the Vicelord had not been expected, and such a thing did make the lupine slightly nervous. Was he being observed? Others arrived that Gerwald had not expected, and some remained hidden in the shadows. It was not going to be an issue regardless, and the presence of others capable of teaching would be needed if there were those who struggled. After all, Gerwald could only provide detailed instruction to so many at one time.
The Lord Marshall grinned as Vanir Eris Vanir Eris danced about him. It was a freeing thing to be a wolf in the woods, but that was short lived as the beast once again became a man. The others would each arrive on their own and in their own time. What they would find as they did was the tall Force Master standing in the center of the clearing where he would greet them all one by one with a slight nod. Some, like Palm-Imer Palm-Imer , would receive a smile as Gerwald knew them personally. It was good to see the woman coming to a learn a skill he knew her philosophy would likely forbid.
One by one they finally arrived and stood before the lupine. He waited for a few moments to ensure all had arrived that would want to participate before moving on.
"Nature... as with everything the force touches, can be manipulated and used to your advantage. Whether your goal is to heal or to harm, the elements around you, the ones which flow through you, are as much a tool as the weapon you carry at your waist, in a holster, your boot, or the one in your hand. Today I am going to help you connect to nature in a way that will allow you to do what many of you may have not thought possible."
Gerwald looked to the newest of students, perhaps those that might feel as though they lacked the skill needed to progress. A smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he began to address them further.
"And before any of you protest that you do not have what it takes let me remind you that you found this clearing. The same skills you used to find the place where your feet now stand will be the same needed to connect to the elements around you.:
He paused.
"Close your eyes. Stand still for a moment and feel the breeze which is brushing against your skin. Isolate it in the force... find the source, and listen to its voice. When you hear it, grab hold of it."
Gerwald smiled again.
"Open your eyes."
As each student did, they would find Gerwald rotating his wrist, index finger extended, as circle of air formed in front him, enough that it was visible.
"You try..."

The sound of hampering footsteps could be heard moving quickly as Dee raced her way towards the clearing where the others had gathered for the lesson in the Elements. Whatever that meant!. Most often the girl's timing was flawless, driven into making a habit of it through Adron Malvern Adron Malvern 's insistent lecturing in the earlier days of her apprenticeship; Thank the Gods he wasn't here to see this!

Danielle Mueller was a sixteen year old with a world full of responsibilities she had to keep track of, such as the Exarch's appointments, general schedule and any other matters that were important to him, also usually meant they were important to her for his memory's sake.

She was his assistant Adjutant, and so between leaving the shuttle and making her way to the intended class, she'd gotten side tracked by an unfortunate change in said schedule, having to reorganize her Master's day accordingly via her datapad. Such a headache!

Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner had announced a lesson and invited a number of students within the Confederacy's Knights Obsidian, Dee not having had seen him in so very long since her first week, having jumped at the chance to attend. Only now she was feeling incredibly silly as she stepped out into eyes sight of the group and announced her arrival via way of a much needed apology to the man.

"Apologies Gerwald" She said most sheepishly before turning her gaze to the others and looking for the most inconspicuous place to situate herself given the embarrassing interruption to his lesson plan. "Won't happen again" she added, trying to make up for it somehow. As if simple words could do that right.

While others might end up needing such aid to connect with the energy around them, Vanir did not. For him, he was always connected and it was one of the few things at the start when he had first awoken his abilities that had come so naturally. His attention was instead on what his Master had to teach and he wanted to miss nothing.

When he drew the air to shift above his palm his mind immediately went to how such things could be used. Stealing someone’s breath. Creating a vacuum in a room. All manor of unpleasant things, but also there was pleasant to go with it. He could pull in fresh air, he could stir up a breeze and so much more. Drawing upon the air would have many uses.

She simply had to do it. She'd been trying to connect to the Force for weeks, and even though it was, in fact, getting better, actually not better, but easier. Right in the beginning, Millu struggled even to feel anything's presence. But now, she could at least see a little of her own surroundings, and people's presence, if they were also trying hard enough to make themselves seen to her.

When her master spoke for the millionth time of how the force surrounded all and was in all, she knew it was, in fact, true. Her small words of doubt before were just a part of her frustration that was spilling over the edge. The girl knew that somewhere, behind this wall that she seemed to be hitting over and over again, lied the force, ready to guide her and make itself known. It had spoken to her in Ryloth. It was there.

Beric's gentle but firm guidance cut through her thoughts and prompted her determination to break through that wall to rise. She really had to do it, to find the clearing, otherwise this entire training trip would've been for nothing, again.

Maybe if she tried a little meditation... If your brain is going too fast, just stop it. Millu closed her eyes again and tried to shut out her thoughts as the girl sought to connect with the living force around her and into the forest. Concentration. What best way to shut up one's mess of a mind than concentrating on what she could actually feel- keep focused on her five natural senses and maybe the sixth would show itself somehow.

Millu could hear the tree leaves rustling against each other in the breeze; the squeaking crickets; and the faint, distant voices of the other students, probably already in the famed clearing.

She could scent the smell of earth and wet leaves across the ground; her own breath, cold and steady; perfume, both her own and her master's; and the pine-like smell of those trees surrounding them.

Millu could feel the crushed leaves and soil under her hand; Beric's hand over hers; and her breathing expanding and constricting her chest.

She could see black... That was slowly forming again into the glowing outline of her surroundings, the bushes, trees, a log over there, Beric... Millu felt a pang of uncertainty try to rise again, and things started to get a little blurry, but she pushed it down as hard as she could, the girl's face melting into a frown once again. Things were starting to take shape and light colors. This was fascinating. And she had to keep it that way.

Throwing more energy into her hand touching the ground, Millu tried to focus on what presences she was able to feel at that moment. Her master's warm signature and the trees. Things still looked a little shaky, but at least they weren't slipping away.

She touched her other hand to the ground too, trying to sense some being other than her master. It would be best if it was one of the students. Millu didn't suceed at that. But she found a trail. It looked yellow-ish and felt like one of the students present that she didn't know. It probably led to the clearing. Jackpot!

Millu didn't want to leave, to open her eyes again and risk losing all the progress she'd made, but the girl knew she had to come back to the real world anyway. With a tentative smile on her face, Millu opened her eyes slowly, then turned to her master. "It... I think it worked! I saw a path to the clearing that was taken by some other student!"

She quickly got to her feet, excited by the prospect of finally learning how to control her powers at will. The girl just hoped that she had actually destroyed the wall that was preventing her from acessing her true potential, and not just made a hole that she wouldn't be able to find later.

The geminaie returned Gerwald's smile with one of her own and a small nod of her head. Her hands were clasped behind her back, muscles still feeling the need to move. She was usually not as restless, but the added stress that only seemed to increase with each passing weak and which she continued to shrug off was slowly starting to catch up with her. With some luck, this lesson would be of help. Even the change of scenery, with a lot more green than a freighter's cockpit or an conference room, was doing its work to soothe her.

A second smile appeared as her golden gaze reached Danielle Mueller, now that Palm herself was a part of the Confederacy she crossed paths with the young adjutant far more often. It was something she welcomed, for in the short time they had known each other she had taken a liking to Dee. Today, they were both present as students.

As the rest of the students reached the clearing, she adjusted her position and allowed her arms to fall back at her sides. There was a slight frown in her brow, as though something else was there that she had not yet seen. Her eyes skimmed the tree line for some seconds, stopping momentarily in one of the largest trees - but her concentration returned to the Lupine as soon as he began speaking. Elemental manipulation was something she was familiar with only in theory. The soll'nav made a point of studying the cultures of other Orders, the Shapers of Kro'var among them.

However, she had never pictured trying it herself.

The first step would be easy enough. Those belonging to her order were known for their mastery of Force sense and control. Connecting to that around her was intrinsic to her every day, feeling the Force flow around and through her an instinct as much as breathing was. Altering, however, is what would prove more difficult. Very few could enhance their strength or speed like a soll'nav, or developed the same sensitivity to the small rippling in the Force - but this mastery came at the cost of neglecting other skills, many of them.

Palm took a deep breath in, closing her eyes and letting her very being melt completely into the folds and waves of the living Force. She felt her surroundings consciously, measuredly, the kindle of every life and how it was tied onto the next and onto the very soil and rocks and streams, and the very air around them. Slowly her forearm was raised until her open hand was palm-up. Sensing, feeling, was easy. Finding her own will to bid that which was felt to bend to her request was not. It just didn't feel right.

But she had come here to learn and push herself - and Palm was not one to give up easily. Another deep breath in, and a small swirl of air began caressing her hand. Eyes still closed, she focused solely on the air and her grasp on it - she managed to make it expand until it formed a circle in front of her. It was faint, much fainter than the one Gerwald had conjured, and harder to spot if it weren't for the light breeze that it was currently fanning towards the geminaie. Not bad for a first try.

Beric watched as his apprentice struggled with a moment of frustration before closing her eyes, her expression turning vacant. Through the Force, he could feel Millu's mind calming -- and stretching out. The Force began to swirl around her and he could feel Millu reaching out. She was finally becoming more in tune with her sentences.

He couldn't help but feel a slight twang of pride.

Millu opened her eyes, suddenly breathless, a tentative and excited smile creeping over her face. "It... I think it worked! I saw a path to the clearing that was taken by some other student!" she exclaimed.

Beric gave her a smile back. "Very good, Millu. Now, lead us there." He stood up, brushing the soil and detritus from his knees as he waited for Millu to guide the way.

Millu nodded to her master's command and immediately began moving in the direction of the trail she caught earlier. She hoped with all her might that they weren't late to the lesson because it took her too long to figure out the way there. The forest was dense, and despite the tell-tale signs that it had truly already been ventured through (at least she knew that they were really on the right path) she still had to dodge some tree branches here and there. She quickened the pace a little. Millu didn't want to be the last one there.

When they finally got to the clearing, Millu found out that she wasn't really the last one, but almost. She stopped and turned to Beric, smiling. "I did it!" The girl hoped that the lesson would be easy enough and that she wouldn't have any more difficulties reaching out into the force. She didn't want any of the other students to see her fail as badly as she had before in so many occasions.

Reaching the clearing was easy enough.

To find a way through the Force was elementary for her. But when she joined the group in front of Master Lechner and listened to his teaching about the elements, her confidence dipped some. To harness some of the elements required more of a balanced Force, which was something she did not have. She was still slightly unstable.

She did as he told them, however. Closing her eyes, she drew on the Force within her, how ever full of turmoil it may be. She searched through the tempest for that voice her teacher spoke of. It was harder than she thought, but she heard it, very very faintly, but she did. She tried connecting with it and pulled on to manifest it in front of her. Her wrist mimicked Master Lechner's movement and she could feel the air forming in the circle she intended, but as she opened her eyes, the circle of air burst into black flames.

Her hand jerked back and she looked at the Dark tongues dancing into the sky in shock before it dissipated. What in Hoth did she just do? She could almost hear her dead master snickering. The bastard. She wanted to kill him all over again. He had been seriously holding out on her.

She glanced at both her new master and the Lord Marshal teaching them, before closing her eyes once more. This time, she did not try to sieve through the Darkness, but rather pulled on it. She focused more on the elemental sources around and within her and listened once more. It took her a bit longer than she expected, but she finally heard it more clearly.

She lifted her hand once more and she could feel the breeze move through her this time before it manifested in the ball she asked for. Opening her eyes once more, she saw the perfect sphere of air, and thank the heavens it did not burst into something again. A smirk spread on her face as she hovered the globe of air in her hand. If she could master this, the possibilities could really be endless for her.

It was like emerging from a long dream, her consciousness suddenly pulled from the inky blackness where she’d been tucked away to. The last thing she could remember was preparing for the expedition to Haruun Kal on Naboo, but based on her current surroundings, it seemed she had made it to the destination, but with no recollection of the journey.

The blackouts were getting worse.

Morrigan stayed silent, discreetly trying to survey the situation and hoping no one would notice the subtle change in her demeanor.

Gerwald and several others were gathered around together. There was a slight ache in her legs and feet, her skin glistening with perspiration. She’d been running. Her molten gold eyes settled on her Lupine instructor as he began to explain the second part of the exercise, watching as the wind came to his bidding.

She slowly straightened up her spine, trying to move herself into the present, though her limbs felt uncoordinated and her mind remained unfocused. Her head cantered to the side and she exhaled a breath before closing her eyes.

Breath. Just breath, and reach.

The sense and feeling of the energies around her felt muddied, tinged by the darkness that had tickled at the edge of her mind since the carving of the runes on her back. Trying to find that balance when you were holding back a malevolence living inside you, made it difficult to perform even the most simple of tasks at times. Her teeth ground together softly, trying to push the other presence into the back of her awareness. Morrigan had been excited for today, for this lesson, she wanted to succeed, to grow stronger. She had to.

A hand reached out, everything around her feeling as if it were starting to become still. All around her, there was life - and it crowded out everything else. Beyond herself, she felt the other students, the birds and insects, the presence of flowers, grasses, and shrubs. She tried to plunge deeper, tuning in to the obscurity of the air around her, noticing how it moved. Nimble and swift like a Makashi duelist, eager to flow and change, and without much density.

Finally immersed in the Force, Morrigan allowed for it to ‘blow’ through her, directing it, dragging it gently, struggling at first to truly grasp it, feeling the wind flutter and dissipate like the brush of a butterflies wings against her hand, until finally, a small and contained vortex began to swirl in her palm.

Promise.

Navigation into the clearing had been easy enough. At the behest of her Master, the Zabrak found her center in but a matter of seconds. Immediately thereafter, she lead the way into the trees. The clearing itself was elementary to locate - though Isley had the experience of decades in his back pocket. Lavria, however, seemed to have no difficulty in all navigating the numerous arbors before them. The Sith was silent as she moved, taking note of how easily she located the clearing. In time, they arrived amidst the other Obsidian learners. Darth Metus did nothing to interrupt the instruction with his presence. Though he was Vicelord, today he was simply a Master overseeing the growth of his apprentice.

The next challenge was to tap into the force of nature itself.

Given what the Sith knew of Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner , the challenge was not once that Isley found himself surprised to hear. The man was a Lupine - a species known for its intimate relationship with nature. Mastering control over the air was certainly within that wheelhouse - and Isley could certainly appreciate the lesson. This could prove to be a valuable building block moving forward. Instead of participating, the Sith settled his sulfuric gaze upon Lavria as she attempted. She followed the instructions to the letter. Once more, her eyes lulled to a close and focus fell upon her. The Force settled within her palm...but there was Darkness. The Sith found his eyebrow raising ever so slightly as the energies moved.

Twisting. Spiraling. Combusting.

In but an instant, the attempt burst into midnight flame - a fact which caused Lavria's focus to cease. By shaking her hand, she remedied the flames and tried again. This time, the desired result was realized. A sphere of air moved within her palm, maintained by her focus. She certainly had promise. But beyond this...there was something inside tainting her focus. Something that literally saw her efforts catch fire. After a few seconds of maintaining the sphere, Isley interrupted by placing a hand upon her shoulder. Rather than interrupt with verbal expression, his voice echoed within her mind. "Just then...when the flames appeared...what were you thinking about?"
