The Voices In My Head
The scars on her back were carved there by religious fanatics from her home world.
The symbols are in the ancient Sith language and were meant to revive a Sith Lord who would use Morrigan's body to host him. Morrigan discovered early on that she could communicate with the spirit and that they were connected, but what she learned of him, scared her enough to prompt an escape before the cultists could complete their ritual. Later, with the help of Gerwald, she killed the fanatics to make sure they would not complete the ritual on herself, or anyone else. However, the spirit still speaks to her. While she's learned to mostly ignore the voice, it encourages the carnality and chaos inside her. He is the devil on her shoulder that is locked with her in an unending internal battle.
Vengeance
Because of the trauma she endured at the hands of the Fayth, she can be prone to merciless and violent behavior towards any she feels are complicit in the system that may further similar ideals. Terrorists, fanatics, slavers, her fury is indiscriminate.
