SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Chronos MedSurge Capsules(x4): Huurtons carry a quartet of MedSurge Capsules, manned by a L1 Medicus Surgical Droid, allowing critically injured soldiers and others to be stabilized and treated right on the front lines.
  • Partially Automated: Huurtons contain a droid brain used to process sensor and targeting information, communicate with other Lucerne Labs military vehicles, and provide diagnostic information to the vehicle's crew.
  • Modular Weapons: As with many recent Lucerne Labs vehicles, the Huurton is designed to use modular weapons, with weapon swaps being easily capable of being carried out in the field if need be. This makes the Huurton relatively flexible in its role of directly supporting its infantry with firepower.
  • Target Identification Network: This system is linked to the Huurton's dorsal turret, allowing it quickly find and precisely fire upon targets around the IFV to support its troops.
  • Retractable Armor Plating: In order to provide good visibility to the occupants, the Huurton has windows made out of Ceraglas, which while strong, can be vulnerable to heavy weapons fire. To protect against that, the Huurton has retractable armor plating which can almost completely cover these windows to better protect the vehicle's occupants.
  • Run-Flat Tires: The Huurton uses the same type of run-flat tires as the Panthac-class CAV, making it difficult to immobilize by simply targeting the tires to deflate them.
  • Environmentally Sealed: Huurtons have environmental sealing and full internal life-support for three days of continual operation, allowing the transports to be deployed in hazardous environments such as vacuum or toxic atmospheres and to enable limited submersion in water.
  • Trailer Hitch: The Huurton has a trailer hitch, allowing it to pull trailers or other pieces of equipment behind it such as Capricorn-class Rail Guns or Sonus-class Sonic Cannons.
STRENGTHS
  • Well Protected: The Huurton is covered in thick armor plating and sports double layered shielding, making it exceptionally resilient on the battlefield.
  • Fast: The Huurton is fairly fast, even for a wheeled vehicle and is capable of matching the speed of many civilian repulsorlift vehicles.
WEAKNESSES
  • Lightly Armed: While quite capable against small threats, the Huurton is fairly lightly armed for its size. It's unlikely to be able to take on most other vehicles its size.
  • Long turn radius: The Huurton is fairly long, and consequently has a long turn radius which can limit its maneuverability.
DESCRIPTION
Capable of transporting an entire platoon, the Huurton is one of the larger infantry fighting vehicles on the market, and in many ways can be considered a more modern equivalent of the Juggernaut A5. But despite their similar forms and functions, the Huurton does have some important conceptual differences, such as an emphasis on providing providing protection to its occupants. The Huurton is layered in thick plates of lightweight ferroceramic armor, providing protection largely through depth. This armor is backed by even more impressive shielding, which allows the Huurton to endure prolonged firepower, even from tanks or heavy walkers like AT-ATs. This not only allows the Huurton to transverse some of the most fearsome parts of the battlefields, but it also allows it to stay and fight alongside its carried infantry. To that end, the Huurton uses a Target Identification Network, much like the old Floating Fortress, to precisely locate and eliminate threats. Unlike that vehicle though, the Huurton's turret armament is highly customizeable, allowing it to be tailored to fight certain foes or operate in specific roles. As an example, the Huurton may carry flamethrowers to smoke enemies out of a bunker that needs to be taken, or alternatively be outfitted with warhead launchers to provide it enough firepower to destroy a number of enemy tanks or starfighters. Similarly, the Huurton's Modular Auxiliary Systems Turret can be quickly outfitted for different situations, such as providing sensor jamming abilities to make it difficult for smart munitions to target the transport or nearby troops, or with a directional particle shield to provide yet another layer of defense against enemy projectiles. Lastly, the Huurton is somewhat unique in that it contains a quartet of Chronos MedSurge Capsules. While this is typically manned by a surgical droid, even untrained laymen can use the capsules to treat critical injuries with the help of bacta and/or its autonomous robotic surgery function.

These features show an emphasis on the Huurton in supporting infantry through prolonged fighting, rather than as a simple armored transport that dumps soldiers off at the battlefield before retreating to relative safety. These added features mean an added cost, and not every unit finds the added costs to be worth it. Consequently, Huurtons are largely employed by mechanized infantry units who find its adaptable weapons worthwhile in combined arms warfare concepts or those who are particularly concerned about the welfare of their men.
