- Massive Firepower: The Beast lives up to its name, delivering rapid, high damage, firepower over long ranges to suppress and devastate an enemy.
- Difficult to Block: Maser blasts impart significant kinetic force into a target making blocking or redirecting them incredibly dangerous, especially at this power level and rate of fire.
- Thermal Bloom: The repeater is either hot from firing, or cold from the ostrine in the barrel which makes it easier to spot with thermal sensors.
- Righties Preferred: While a left-handed person can easily use it mounted, the shape of the repeater and power pack placement makes carrying and firing from a person's left side awkward.
Officially termed the HRM-01 Spitfire, during production Chi took to calling it 'The Beast,' A name that seems to have stuck. Like most heavy weapons it trades size and weight for raw firepower, further enhanced by using maser technology to impart a significant kinetic impact along with the blue laser which was often enough to send a target flying back. Designed to be fired from a tripod or other fixed emplacement where the repeater can be tied into a portable generator or ship/vehicle power, a user can also opt to take it mobile. Bipods and slings can be easily attached and power packs used to charge the maser when on the move though a soldier in a hurry can easily shift their grip to the built-in carrying handle and canted trigger for hip firing action.
While such a powerful and rapid-firing weapon naturally produces a large amount of heat, this was mitigated by using an alloy of ostrine that naturally freezes to sheath the barrel and firing chamber along with heat-resistant dallorian for the rest of the weapon. With this combination any gunner can avoid overheating in even the hottest of deserts or volcano fields. The Spitfire was also hardened against freezing arctic or wet jungle and swampy environs, even receiving rust prevention treatments allowing it to take on corrosive atmospheres or space.
To assist the gunner, 'The Beast' is fully compatible with all common armor sensors and heads-up displays, even coming with its own lifeform sensor to spoil many common stealth techniques short of personal cloaking and sensor jamming. The included gyro keeps the recoil of sustained firing at a manageable level, while the lightweight Fyrirdögun Shield provides some protection to the maser and its user from return fire seeking to suppress its position. This shield is self-repairing to a point and highly resistant to the most common damage types, but too small to provide much protection on its own when deployed out of cover, mostly guarding vitals and the power pack.
