Hild ‘Icy’ Valor

oie_2521131s5L8GW8f.png

CURRENT NAME: Hild Valor
BIRTH NAME: Vanny Silvermine
CODENAME: Icy
FACTION: Sith / Independent forger of documents.
RANK: None (Technically an Acolyte trained to be a Spy)
SPECIES: Valkyri
AGE: 35
SEX: Female
HEIGHT: 7′2″ (2,18 m)
EYES: Blue (Normal), Yellow (Using Dark side powers)
HAIR: Long and blonde, often braided or held in a ponytail.
SKIN: Caucasian
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes
FACE: Marvel’s Brunhilde

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

Lacking training but... : What she actually knows she knows very well.
Valkyri Body: Good genetics and training-torture made both quick and tough. She often chooses to not use her Force abilities to keep them a secret, relying on her physical abilities and combat training.
Other Means: Given she lives in constant hiding, she doesn't rely purely on the Force, preferring a more 'common' and/or technological approach to solve issues. Such as slicing, lying, or just punching her way out.
Good Memory: She remembers close to everything read, seen or heard. It also means she remembers every torture inflicted upon her and every nightmare. But she can't remember the name of her Master. It was probably removed during the lessons on 'Drain Knowledge'.

+/- Valkyri Strengths: She's a tough, strong warrior with a love for the cold climates. Not to mention having an iron live capable of enduring the strongest of drinks.
+/- Valkyri Weaknesses: She's not a techno-genius but she knows her way around technology, even if it was something more out of need than by choice.
+/- Pure Repetition: She is not a genius, but her memory helps her remember enough from several fields.

Not very Valkyri-like: The torture-lessons beat the Valkyri belief out of her. They might exist, but given none of her gods ever tried to help her, she will not be giving them her faith. She even refuses to go back to her planet because she won't feel at home among her own people.
Ex-Spy: There's always someone out there better than you. Her first fight against a Jedi ended with her victory, but by very close, and luck was involved. Her face might be known to some security databases, and given her obviously massive build, hiding in a crowd is... tricky.
Sarcastic: Happens when your Master was so old he couldn't understand sarcasm very well. Even if it led to punishment later, she just couldn't help being vocal about her likes and dislikes. She's still talkative about it.
Not in Control: Spite to her Master's memory is often the only fuel she needs. She claims to not be using the Dark side just to spite him, but how can she know what is the Dark side and what isn't when she was never actually taught what it is? Maybe her battle rage is an aspect of her powers. Maybe she's a walking beacon for the Force Sensitives. Who knows.

APPEARANCE

As a Valkyri she has a tall and powerful body with long hair, either braided or in a ponytail, following her tribe's style as best a she can remember it.
The constant training/torture sessions kept her fit and strong, and for her luck she grew voluptuous and muscular as she suffered year after year. Before her kidnapping she used to think having a strong body was a blessing of the gods, but now she just sees it as good genetic. Said 'good' genetic means she can be spotted in a crowd easily, iand she had to practice even harder to learn how to be unnoticed if needed.

On the other hand, she can put all of her angry Valkyri strength to good use, jump into countless fights and probably win most of them. The several scars across her body are a constant reminder of her constant fights and past struggles, which were good teachers in their own way. With not so pleasant past, there's a brute elegance to her walk, like a proud warrior confident with her every step.

POWERS AND ABILITIES

Her training was purposely flawed to keep her from attaining too much power. Some lessons were rushed while others were ignored, leading to great skill in some areas but none in others.
Lightsaber Combat
She was taught the Form I as a basis for wielding a lightsaber, and when her knowledge was deemed adequate she was taught the form V. Both Shien and Djem So, the last one her favorite, were meant to help her fight on until the day she died, given the lousy 'fight hard die quickly, be useful' methods used in her training.
FORCE POWERS
Her lessons were about how to use the anger and the pain properly. How to keep on living, fighting and completing her missions. Coupled with her large Valkyri build that makes her an effective combatant, but her knowledge of the Force is somewhat lacking for anything not related to combat or how to take knowledge from her targets.

BIOGRAPHY

Born in a village of hunters, she was taught how to survive from a young age and she grew well, tall and strong. The tribe's pride. She had the Force to help her, though she had no idea at the time. It was there, in her, so she assumed it was a test from the gods. Obviously she took it as her motivation to grow strong and worthy of their attention. When her parents died hunting, she went out and killed the beast responsible to offer it's body as a gift.

When a ship landed nearby the tribe surrounded it to find a crew of humans, and she saw a chance there. The captain promised to trade with them to pay for their stay in their area for a few days to make repairs. The tribe was given water filters, vibro-blades and other useful tools. The ship was big and scary, but they wanted to avoid fighting the locals.

She offered to help. She had no idea how to repair a ship but she was young and eager, and the crew was mostly made of soft, fragile civilians with only a few strong soldiers. They agreed to her proposal. She wanted to get out there, hunt a mighty beast and then return home to make her tribe and the gods proud and that ship was to be her mighty hunting steed... Or that was her initial plan.

Vanny Silvermine was going to hunt among the stars and return victorious, with space leather, space daggers, space whatever is it they had to hunt!

The excitement from being aboard a ship was cut short when, halfway to the closest spaceport the ship was attacked by raiders. She joined the soldiers to fight back, but they lost. Too many enemies wielding those blaster-weapons of theirs. Maybe that was a test from the gods and she failed.

Salvation came from a creepy figure. An old, arrogant man with red eyes and a passion for cruelty, using magic to tear through the raiders to get to Vanny and drag her away. He claimed to not believe in coincidences, and that finding her was probably a sign. Vanny never had a say on the matter as they left on the man's ship. spending most of the trip passed out in a healing tank.

On the ship to her new ‘home’, the man confessed he was seeking useful slaves. And how it would be fun to break Vanny's pride and make her into something useful. From that moment and on she hated the man and swore to kill him. Maybe this was her test after all. But the moment they landed on a new planet she quickly discovered she was right to be afraid of this man, because her training lessons started the second the ship landed on the planet. The first lesson was to test her sensitivity to the force.

She was hit by lightning, cursed and beaten with a cane until she snapped and threw a punch using the God's Gift. The man blocked, easily, but seemed to approve of the reaction. He then introduced himself as the ‘Master’ and commanded her to make herself comfortable in any of the rooms on the upper floor, and to always avoid the lower floors unless invited. She tried to attack again and was thrown into a wall, breaking several bones.

It's not like Vanny had much of a choice. The top floors were the worst part of the fort because whatever bad climate outside hit there first. Wild life would sometimes roam too close, and she had to fight them off alongside the security droids. The Master wanted to watch her fight from the very first year for comparison purposes. She had to adapt to survive and she fought against everything thrown her way. She wanted to live no matter the cost. And she wanted to one day kill this arrogant Sith before escaping the planet.

The planet itself was the problem. With no knowledge how to pilot a ship, she even tried to bribe the droids a few times. Once the Master rambled about the planet was perfect, not of strategic importance, without any rare materials, nothing of interest to be conquered or claimed, just a planet with snow and wildlife. The only good thing was the weather. The planet was cold and there was always snow, and the Master kept inside the fort. Outside she could pretend she was free and dream this place was not her home. The Master often claimed she was just the latest of his subjects, and how he expected she would be better than the previous slaves. Pride kept her going.

Over the years she understood she was taken because of her untrained talent to feel things. Not a gift the gods, but a thing called 'Force'. The only good thing was that training actually helped her control that weird aspect of her life. The first lessons were incredibly hard, and the torture didn’t help, but her Master was not a good teacher. He was impatient for results, demanding, and did not explain very well. Understanding the very basics took a while, but once that was achieved things improved for her.

Her Master never fully trusted her, but out of need he ended up giving her tasks and some freedom to act. Believing she was tamed and under his control, he kept his attention mostly on his own weird research and rituals. The more she achieved good results, the more she was given, and thus a training cycle started. Lessons, punishment, lessons, humiliation, results, reward. On the plus side the Master always made sure she was healed. He was a bad teacher and a cruel man, but he understood that a broken slave was useless.

She became the fort's caretaker/permanent guest/security. Killing the wild life, finding bones and bodies from her predecessor 'apprentice/slaves' in the wilds, suffering torture and punishments every few days... She even tried to use this new level of freedom and responsibility to scout the planet for any means of escape. But it was useless because she could not find any clue or a crashed ship. That planet was such a hidden backwater mud-ball even the ships had the decency of not crashing there. Or maybe it was her Master’s doing.

Vanny was never even told her Master’s name. Master Masterson, when she was alone and angry at him, knowing the droids would snitch on her, but she defied them as well. It was not uncommon for some droids to be found having 'suicided themselves' out of some malfunction. If she was going to be punished anyway then she wanted to deserve it out of pure pride. Sarcasm and small acts of defiance were her only weapons against a vastly superior Master. That and several assassination attempts.

Interestingly enough, each assassination attempt was judged and then punished or rewarded based on possibility of success. The Master always survived, even after being tricked into ingesting poison. To know there was a chance at killing him was a good motivation to learn more and be a good student, or at least to pretend to be good and hope for the old man's death.

Eventually it paid off. When the Master judged Vanny to be ready she was excited to go. Her sanity needed to get out of that place. Not everyone finds joy in the idea of infiltrating a military base on another planet to steal information, but she did. She had to return 'home' of course, since a bomb around her neck with a time limit was an excellent motivator. An insurance, the Master said. She had no choice but to accept it, but it was... exciting to spend a month out of that fort, to run, to hunt, to drink water from a lake, to look around and see no droids in sight... She completed the task, of course. And read all the information acquired out of curiosity.

After that she was viven more missions. Some involved combat but most were 'peaceful' if she was careful enough. The faster a mission was completed the more time she had to stall and enjoy ther temporary freedom. The 'Insurance System' went from a necklace-bomb to a bomb implanted in her spine, but at the very least the new missions allowed her to see new worlds and new faces, and between the missions she increased her own arsenal with knowledge and skills her Master would never think of teaching her. Slicing for working around the fort's systems and to get herself credits. Forgery to fake an ID. And other useful skills for her own survival.

The Master was never informed of such new skills, but then he only cared about the results and not the methods. He believed Vanny to be an useful, obedient tool, when in reality she was biding her time and improving her plans. With every mission she tried to improve it further, and then she felt like it was ready when the missions kept getting harder. She felt like the Master was trying to get rid of her.

She put the plan in action on the return home of a particularly difficult mission, which almost cost her life after her very first encounter with a Jedi. An expensive, but professional enough, surgeon with his own ship was to meet her ship in space and perform a surgery to remove the bomb. She was skilled enough to keep it a secret from the monitoring systems, and then she was ready to return to the fort for the second part of the plan and kill the Master.

The Master was always very eager to get his hands on the mission objective, often locking himself up for hours in the reliquary/library/database to study it. Vanny had a plan to wait for a few days for him to get a bit more tired with his constant research and rituals and then to strike. Then it was only a matter of getting back aboard the ship, have the droids refuel it and leave forever.

But her perfect plan had some help from external sources because on her way back to the fort, her pleasant thoughts of murder and mayhem were interrupted by an emergency signal. The fort was under attack. By the time her ship arrived the assault was over and the invading force had left, leaving the fort broken into and empty.

She spent the next day scouting the place and looting the dead bodies for anything useful. Going into areas she was never allowed in before, only to find every room was either empty or destroyed. Whoever led the assault took everything of value and got rid of the rest. The security footage was mostly erased, but she was only able to recover some information. Mostly about Vanny’s training, the several slaves taken before her, how the Master was using every success and failure before Vanny to learn how to be a better teacher through more effective torture for whoever he was going to pick next. Apparently she was going to be killed before the end of the year, the Master was just waiting to find another force sensitive to replace her. Granted, her ability to remember was remarcable and useful, but letting her live with too much knowledge was apparently one of the reasons for her death.

There was little information about the invading force. Her only clue came from the uniforms of the dead soldiers. Sith forces of some kind. Apparently the Master was not careful enough with his scheming and some Sith rival found out. To his credit he took out several soldiers before being swarmed and defeated. With nothing for her there, Vanny set her Master's body on fire and then she left the fort to never return.

She had a plan. A dream. To be free felt weird at first, to live without someone commanding her every mission, torturing her after every failure. She landed the ship in a spaceport, set the auto pilot to fly out and crash into an asteroid and then… freedom. Never to be a slave again. Using her skills she was able to earn some credits and take care of herself. With her several identifications she can effectively go anywhere.
