After a time, as the group drew forged onward, the Nightmother's green eyes lifted skyward.
Growls, howls. Teeth, claws. Fire, flame.
Beasts had struck up ahead, and it seemed the pair that'd taken point held nothing back. Vytal looked aside to consult the map when a rustle drew her ear. At first it might be mistaken as leaves as they danced upon the ground, or the canopy of dried and dying trees that lined their path tossed in the wind. Such a mistake would only last a moment. Unlike leaves even caught in a wind, the sound did not abate and in fact only grew strong with every second.
"Nama reveal what hunts us," Vytal intoned.
Sleek in stature. Small in bite. Shall never their prey wake to light.
A guest of warm air swept outward from the Nightmother and into the surrounding area. Leaves were tossed from the ground into the air and away from the group. In their wake the black, slithering forms of snakes with glowing red eyes could be seen quickly winding their way toward the previously unaware prey. They were legion, and they came from behind and their flanks. Was it to drive their prey into the Heart, or to ensure a feast? Either way, the women and men present had a fight on their hands.
"Dispatch them quickly," the Witch called out as the flame of ichor flared to life in the palm of her hand.

When the Knight's Obsidian had been summoned to this world, Aries was unsure as to why. However, within a single moment of setting foot on the planet's surface he could feel it. Some immense anger that seemed to resonate from the planet itself. It was manifested in the Force and spread from one creature to the next. All manner of beast and plant had been turned to some twisted perversions of itself. Aries did not wear the spacer leathers he'd found. Instead the faint hexagonal shimmering of the Obsidian Strike Armor that glowed onto the surrounding area. He exhaled, pulling the cowl over his helmet before turning to look at his partner, Nimue.

He pulled his doubled-bladed lightsaber from his waist, running a hand over a piece of bark on a tree. The tree itself was deformed and grotesque, but what was even more interesting than that were the maggots in the wood. As Aries hand came up they rose from the wood, as if trying to latch onto him. He stared at the insects for a moment before pushing himself to his feet and turning to Nimue. "I remember reading about corruption like this. It can take hundreds of years to repair. It's almost as if the Dark Side of the Force is lashing out on this world. Why?" His metallic voice was piqued with intrigue when he looked to Nimue.

A nearby twig seemed to snap, causing Aries' to stand beside Nimue as a single end of his saberstaff came to life with a vibrant snap-hiss. The Force that flowed around them was as thick as the mist that surrounded the Reach. He couldn't place whatever was out there, it was like it was hidden in the Force as much as the mist. Even his HUD on his helmet struggled to identify a moving target. Still, in the next moment the noises died down and Aries looked to Nimue. "Come on. Let's move on before whatever that is changes it's mind." Out of all the paths before them there was one that seemed just a bit less overgrown. It even had some decent footing.

Deactivating the blade of his lightsaber, Aries strode forward with the weapon held evenly in his hands. As they moved forward, Aries glanced around a bit, trying to keep his head on a swivel. "What caused this?" He asked Nimue, wondering if she had the answer.

A twisted muslin scarf sat in her lap throughout the flight. She had essentially mauled the garment whole chocolate orbs focused on something very far away. Adron would feel the soft subtle longing that lingered in her heart. She knew that their baby boy was safe with her Mother (Valessia Brentioch) and that he would want for nothing, but still, panic had wormed its way into her soul deeply enough that she found herself chasing his spirit through the Force just to find him. Feel him. Know that he was happy. Was he eating?
It was the first time that Aries had been outside of Confederate space. It was the first time that he had been away from home without either herself or Adron Malvern Adron Malvern . She could feel her husband looking at her and his amusement bubbled up in the back of her mind. The Queen of Illyria shot him a dirty look. It was quick to fade. Adron would know why she tarried. He would also know why her mood seemed to be slipping through stages, for the most part, though there was something new manifesting in his wife that he would not be able to put words to.
It was not something she could articulate. Only—That she kept something precious safe. The necklace that he had given her so long ago to hide her Force Ability was around her neck once more. It might have made him suspicious. Was she with child again?
No.
At least—Not that she knew of. This was something else.
She took Adron’s hand when offered and felt a small sense of relief at the familiar closeness. Alessandra had missed him. She always missed him. The Wolf of Golbah Street was clad in sensible clothing for their destination. “That’s more than a fresh memory…At least most of your blood stayed where it belonged.”, she returned, teasingly, though not without a touch of fondness. It was the first time she’d really let herself admit that what she felt for the then Minister of War was more than passing fancy. More than needs being met.
His silhouette whilst he directed the Illyrian Skirmishers left her to follow his movements. She had on a deep purple blouse that tucked into a pair of dark protective leggings. They were padded at the knees and waterproof in case she took a tumble. Sensible boots with grav locks and friction grip adorned her feet. She wanted to make sure she didn’t have bloodied feet and calluses by the end of this excursion.
Briefly, she caught sight of her own reflection in the side of the ship.
What she saw startled her. She didn’t see her own eyes. Instead, she saw that of Mishel Kryze. It wasn’t the distorted version of her half-sister that had saved her life on Atrisia. It was the girl she had met on Tatooine. The one who slurped her food with intensely poor manners. The one who had reached through their blood and pulled at her power as if it were a shared well-spring.
The memory made her look away. It was just guilt.
Mishel was gone.
Alessandra turned her focus back to Adron when he signaled it was time to move. The raven-haired beauty fell into an easy stride beside her husband and his expression seemed pensive. They were both bothered that Aries was so far—But he was safe with her Mother and Father. They would protect her child as if he was their own. And as one who had most definitely had the most terrifying Father growing up? It made her feel more secure. They loved her. They loved Aries.
He would be fine.
The question that followed from Adron caught her by surprise. Her boots crunched on little pieces of rock and gravel but silence would pass for a long moment. “That’s a complicated question.”, she returned slowly, moving a little faster, so that she could catch his hand in her own once more. She loved the feel of his skin against her own. Even when it was something simple.
“I can’t pretend to understand your full reasoning for stepping away, Adron. I do know…”, Alessandra’s blood red lips pressed together for a moment, briefly, while she chose her words carefully. She did not mince things to spare feelings. She did not need to. Her husband had faced far greater terrors than the wrath of her firebrand tongue. “I do know, after Atrisia, there was a reason I stayed.”
He asked another question that she didn’t know how to reply to. Having read reports, carefully, and as well as she could given her professional inclinations to deal with credits over blood—She was left with a singular answer. It wasn’t something anyone wanted to hear. “We didn’t get weaker.”
Adron pulled from her grasp to move ahead so that he could watch their people fan out and scan the area. They reached the checkpoint and the olive-skinned woman could only watch while her husband seemed to come to terms. He was angry. Annoyed that anyone dared to break what he had left behind. But, they did dare. Multiple times. “Our enemies got stronger. Bold. Creative. They’ve learned to lie as well as they breathe whilst we tread a path that hovers between light and dark. It leaves us at a disadvantage…”, she trailed off, pausing, to raise her wrists before her to simulate her words. “Our wrists are tied.”
Her husband smiled for her when he turned back toward her. She knew that look. Every line of his handsome features. Alessandra knew what he would say before it passed through his lips. She waited while his back met her eyes again. Soft footsteps took her closer. For a moment, she paused and fought the desire to forbid his return. The raven-haired woman had never known how much she didn’t want him to take up his former mantle until he decided to do it.
A heavy sigh escaped her lips and she wrapped her arms around him from behind. Her ear pressed against his back while dark eyes fell shut. She could smell his cologne and took a deep, heady breath, before exhaling slowly. Her hands linked over his abdomen.
“…That’s all that needs to be said then. To war, we will go.”

Everyone felt something of an aversion to the dark side tendrils that had wrapped themselves around this world to choke all the light, but not Nimue. Both she and her sisters had felt the ever changing darkside take root on Rannon. However, it had neither affected nor been close enough to Illyria to be worth mentioning, and where possible Nimue always encouraged her sisters to allow the darkside to flourish.

It was certainly flourishing here.

Where her companion walked garbed in armour, Nimue walked in nothing but her ordinary attire. She felt no aversion to the anger that bubbled from the core of the planet over to the fauna and flora covering its surface. In fact, she was rather enjoying being surrounded on all sides by such a pressing and powerful force. “Put your weapon away, Aries.” Nimue did not even turn to look at him as she spoke. She knew well enough the sound of a lightsaber being handled. “When you defiantly stare something so full of vehemence in the face, I find it best not to threaten it.”

But, her words were drowned out instead by the ignition of his blade. A bright, vibrant, unnatural colour cast a strange hue over the tainted fauna. Nimue turned and rose a brow, casting her gaze over the shadows that surrounded them. Something stirred in the dark, something that even Nimue could not see. Aries pulled away, and Nimue turned to follow. When the original call had come for him to explore the planet with the rest of the Knight’s Obsidian Nimue had, at first, refused. She wanted no part in destroying something that clung to the dark side like a newborn babe clung to its mother.

Nimue had wanted to nurture it, to encourage it to grow and overtake the whole planet… but here she was. Determined instead to destroy it.

“Many reasons.” She answered his question as they walked, one of her hands reaching out to catch whatever flora was in her reach. The tips of her fingers buzzed with the force that pulsed through every inch of this side of the planet. "Unless the Oracle blesses me with a vision I fear I’m just as unaware as you are, but if I were to hazard a guess… Perhaps a moment in time filled with so much darkness it broke free and infected the planet. A rip in a force nexus that spilled over. A curse perhaps, or a spell.” Either way, whatever had caused this had done a spectacular job of it.

Nimue was exceedingly impressed.

The Sith Lord felt his wife's hand curl around his own and he allowed the air building up in his chest to slowly release out. She freed him. She pulled the weight that pressed down onto his chest until it was nothing more than a light feather. He appreciated that, he valued it. When he looked to Alessandra he saw a woman who he loved, as well as the reflections of the child that they shared. Aries was a young boy, barely even a toddler, but still he held so many of Alessandra's features. It was almost a bit racking at times, their similarities, even in temperament.

He turned to Alessandra, his eyes lowering to the jewel that dangled around her neck. He
remembered crafting it. He remembered giving it to Alessandra and he even remembered the time when he struck it from her neck. Not all of the memories were fond, though they certainly were memories to stick with the two of them until they were old and grey. His free hand came up as he listened to the woman speak of Atrisia. His eyes came up to meet hers for a shallow moment. The purple orbs faded back to their natural blue pools, clear and like crystal they stayed fastened on Alessandra.

"Atrisia." He said the word as if it held meaning to him. It did and it did not. Atrisia had ever been a focal planet of war in the history of the galaxy. Adron's own father had fought on Atrisia, back during the ancient time of the One Sith. It had been a hellish battle and the war had caused the planet irreparable damage. Still, there was more to the planet than his late father's involvement. There was another.

He had not been so emotionally removed that he had noticed his wife's toil. As his hand came to brush against her cheek he found a weight returning to the pit of his gut.

Mishel.

It had been a name that echoed through the Force the moment the woman had died. Alessandra's grief had pierced Adron's heart on Illyria and even he had found it difficult to broach the subject. He'd felt that she would speak about the matter when she was ready. But now it seemed that it was better this way.

The Illyrian soldiers that moved about all suddenly came to a single, unified halt. Each and every one of them turned their backs to the King and Queen, their minds a faint haze as the Force dominated their existence. Even the Knights who guarded the two faced outwards, their minds only focused on the dangers that could find the monarchs.

They may as well have been totally alone. No ear listened, no person watched.

Adron wrapped his arms around Alessandra, not caring any further for talks of war or even The Confederacy. There was one glaring issue that had to be spoken about, one fact that had shaken their lives regardless of intent.

"I'm so sorry Ale..." He spoke softly, his eyes slightly closing as he whispered into her ear. "I'm sorry."

Alessandra Creed Alessandra Creed

The Force that surrounded them was erratic and dangerous. It was nothing like the nexus that the Silma worshiped at. Even with Aries' damaged connection to the Force he could feel the rampant dangers of the Dark Side in such a volatile form. "If we were able to...cultivate this power. Could it be tamed that way?" He wondered. He could sense Nimue's reluctance to simply purge the darkness from this area. How could they solve this riddle? He paused, turning back to Nimue before pausing to consider something. "What do you know of alchemy?" He asked the woman with a rather interested expression. "In my classes there was a technique where the Dark Side at it's most raw form could be refined into a type of focal device or crystal. Usually this took some time, but maybe we could speed that up with both of us?"

There was another shift around them, causing Aries to glance back behind him. He tried to reach out with the Force, but again it was so thick his eyes may as well have been closed. "We need to find the center of th-" A loud crack occurred, causing Aries to square up to where the sound came from. This time Aries' activated his lightsaber, the crimson-orange blade came to life just in time to slice in half a vine that had lashed out at the man's throat.

In the next moment a number of the dark-green vines sprang from the darkness to attempt and ensnare the two of them. Aries' focused himself, activating the other end of his lightsaber as he spun the blade in front of him, cutting through the many vines as they tried to ensnare him.

"Wonderful!" He hissed.

Another mission, another mission alone. Gerwald did not understand the lot life had handed him, but at least he no longer used it as an excuse to hide from his responsibility. The Lupine had lost another, this time a master. Gerwald had found someone that had told Gerwald the things he needed to hear. Alkor had not coddled the wolf, in fact he had tried to kill him in order to prove a point. It had been the dark Jedi which taught the wolf how to take the feelings of hatred and loss and turn them into a weapon. The man had even taught Gerwald that he would never be without his feelings for Naedira. That even those were a weapon if he so chose.
There was still a sense of abandonment however. Scherezade was gone. Katrine was gone. Alwine had left. Varik was nowhere to be found. Naedira had died, and Alkor was now gone also. Anyone that Gerwald claimed a connection to had left, and in his mind he wondered how often it would be before those he had allowed into his life now would leave. It was wrong of him to presume Redd would be among them, but Gerwald's life since leaving Stewjon had a particular pattern.
It was a pattern that needed to break.
Gerwald needed to run, and the forest in front of him was perfect for it. His clothes had been left in a place where he could find them again, hidden where he could change if privacy was needed. A lone howl could be heard echoing throughout the forest as a larger than average wolf began to rush through the forest in the Hidden Valley below.
The sensation was odd, strange, as though the valley itself contained secrets. As a wolf Gerwald could sense things in ways that he could not as a human using the force. There was a knowing of nature that Gerwald seemed to possess.
How long he ran was lost on him, but the time for it came to an end. Returning to where he had left his clothing, Gerwald shifted once more, changing back into his human state. The grass seemed soft and inviting, and it had been so long since the wolf had been alone with his thoughts. He needed it. Laying on his back, Gerwald opted to leave his shirt off so he could feel the blades of grass tickle his back as they pressed into his skin. His hands folded together under his head as he looked at the blue sky above and took in a deep breath.
He was content, yet still troubled.
As the breeze brushed across his skin, Gerwald began to hum a song. The words were long forgotten, but the melody had been one every child on Stewjon could recite. Perhaps it had been too long since he last was on Stewjon. Maybe the way forward was to take a step back. Gerwald closed his eyes as he pondered his current state. The answer would come, and until then, he would press on as those who loved him would want.

Taiia made her way through the valley toward the temple, in the same manner, that she always did allow the force to guide her to wherever it would, she continued to study and learn but as of yet she had not come to understand why the force did what it did, or why it called to her but the why while important to her was not enough to distract her from its guiding influence she simply did and she listened wherever it would lead.
Rannon was a planet of many mysteries that and seen the likes of the nightmother and various other powerful force users drawn here. Their path took them another route though, to solve some greater mystery, where she found herself heading through much less foreboding and lush valley that it was said a Jedi had constructed a temple, perhaps as a monument to his past or a place to show off his trophies from his adventures it was uncertain as to why but it was her intention to find out, and if possible find something of interest within. She could feel an air of darkness as she walked but at no time felt in danger, rather she felt the lure of the dark side pulling her much as the force itself was.

Her thoughts carefully drifted back to the little ball of water Áine had instructed to keep with her, a tiny shell of ice the only thing keeping it from losing shape entirely. At first, it was difficult to split her focus, but she had spent time practicing and with Aine pushing against it forcing her to resist her attacks she had been able to strengthen her connection to the force.

They’d come to follow the trail of an old Jedi, a hidden stash of goods and artefacts. A hidden stash of the knowledge that everyone seemed to want. Knowledge was important, there was no denying that but…what was the point? They’d push through the traps left by the Jedi, discover what he’d left behind and then share it with the rest of the Knights. No, it was more than that, it would be the repetition of the same story, the same futile struggle against the wings of darkness that seemed to stretch out from all sides to envelop civilization.

It wasn’t the darkness of the Sith or the light of the Jedi. This was the light of order, of civilization itself and the forces of Chaos that threatened to tear it apart. That too often succeeded.

The blonde had let the rest of the party rush ahead, slowly falling behind till they’d passed out of sight. Her wandering footsteps had taken her away from the path, through the woods and beyond. She wasn’t worried that she’d get lost, in the back of her mind, she could still sense them, the powers that had arrived on the planet burning in the back of her mind like a beacon. It was impossible to get lost with a tool like the force at her disposal, but that wasn’t what she wanted.

She wanted to get lost, away from the maddening crowd.

A chance to be alone with her thoughts and melancholy. Loss, the fate of her family and planet were never too far from her thoughts. How could they be? It was her greatest failure. If she’d been there then maybe. Maybe she could have stopped them, stopped anyone from dying. If she’d been there then maybe her world would still be the luscious green paradise that this valley was.

A blink of eyes, the soft wave of a hand sent the force streaming out in front of her, the invisible energy peeling back the branches in front of her as she closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth of the sun washing over her face. The feeling of the gentle wind pulling at her hair and clothes, the smell of the grass and flowers filling the air around her. If she didn’t know better she could have been home. She could have been on any planet in the Galaxy, beautiful and Iydillic. If she didn’t know better she could have been in heaven. But for the beacons blazing in the back of her mind, the reminder that her time here was limited that all too soon she’d be dragged off to another planet and another mission.

This wasn’t home. Home had been something long lost and left behind her. This was just one more reminder, another dagger through her heart. What could have been but never was. What would never…

The sound of a man humming, a simple catchy tune. Similar, so similar to those of her childhood, gathered up in her parent’s bed at the end of a long day. Her mother crooning them to sleep. It was a nonsense song but words had never been important. It had been being there with everyone at the end of the day.

“What’s a nice guy like you doing in a place like this?”

"Hey there! Guess what? I heard about this cool place, in the middle of nowhere type. No big cities. No polution. No hover vehicles. Really nice type. I've been a busy Zeltron and I think it's time for a little fun. So I'm heading out! Oh, uh, and there might be some dark shenanigans going on, but you know me, I'll totally stay clear of that."

"Whoa... Whooooa," Cali tippy tapped from one side of the shuttle to the other as it lurked to and fro. "Hey, uh, what's going on up there?" she called up to the cabin, curious, you know, about the whole 'my goddess, my goddess, we're all going to die' flying her pilots were doing. Slowly the pink one aboard managed to haul herself forward and jab her finger into the door control.

Looked like one of the pilots was leaning across toward the pilot.

First Reaction: Something happened to the pilot.

Some kind of wet, shlacking sound was heard half a second later.

Second Reaction: Uh, like, hang a sign outside next time? Hey, wait, were they going to fly this thing or what?

Then the co-pilot straightened up just enough for their head to snap to the side. Their bright, red eyes fixed right on Cali without a second's hesitation.

Third Reaction: Whoa, like, what was wrong with your eyes?

And the blood on their chin.

Fourth Reaction: Whoa, like, what was wrong with your face?

And the snarl and failed attempt to lurch around and out of its seat because safety harness. That's right kids, don't forget to put on your seat belt in case you become a ravenous zombie. You'll not only be protected against crashes, but the Still Alive will thank you!

Fifth Reaction: Yep.

And the door shut. Cali blinked as the ship lurched to the side one more time. "Hey, wait, were those trees...?" Should she see trees outside of the--?

Okay, okay, Sixth Reaction: Are we crashing?

With a soft meep, the pink woman came about in a hop and bounced about like a pinball until she got to the 'do not pull' pull bar of the emergency exit. You know, the "certain death" option when you were in space. Hey, cool fact though -- not in space right now! Oh, and before she left... Cali grabbed one of those fancy parachutes by the door.

Whilst the pink one slowly descended toward the Dark Valley of Malcontent below, her bright eyes watched the ship sail off into the distance... and nose plant right there in the ground with a big poof. Okay, more of a bang, but there was a poof in there somewhere. Least the zombie had their safety harness on though so-- Oh, never mind.

Two minutes later Cali found her chute caught in some of the lower branches of a bunch of trees. She wiggled in mid-air for a bit trying to figure out how to get the thing off. "Well, this is going to make for one of those updates on my Forcebook," she huffed. You know, the regular updates that usually resulted from Cali waking up in the morning.

Taiia was snapped out of her thoughts at first by the sound of a ship seemingly falling out of the air and she watched a pink girl jumped out with a parachute and in the distance, a ship careened into the valley wall and exploded into a massive fireball. To say she was shocked would be an understatement and began to run toward at Cali Ziiva as she saw her descend from the sky only to get her parachute snagged on a tree and dangling precariously above the valley floor. As she finally arrived near the base of the tree she called up to her.
"Hey there, I'll get you down ok? It might be a bit scary but I've got you." Taiia lifted a hand toward the young Zeltron and with a simple gesture the clasp on the harness would be released and Cali Ziiva Cali Ziiva would fall only inches before she would be caught with the force and lowered gently towards the ground when she was once again safely on the ground the young redheaded woman walked up to her and extended a hand to help her up while giving a quick introduction. "My name is Taiia, you are?"

Wide, bright eyes stared down at a woman that came running up on the Zeltron suspended in a tree. A quick blink of the eyes followed the woman's words. About all the time she had, really, before the Force unlatched her harness... and then she started to fall again. Again. These things came in threes, didn't they?

A soft squeak of surprise sounded before Taiia's Force abilities helped guide someone that stood out like a sore thumb down to the forest floor.

When her savior approached, Cali stared at her, at the hand, and back up at her for a second. Then she stepped forward and threw her arms about Taiia with a solid hug. "Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you. You don't know how frightening all of that had been. There were red eyes. And blood. I think it was a..." The Zeltron paused as she drew back to gaze into Taiia's eyes. The next word that fell from her lips was hushed as though the trees were listening. "Zombie." What's a zombie? Cali didn't know! They used that word in holo-vids when it came to creepy crawly undead things. The co-pilot had been Undead, right? Or was it possession? Whatever!

Cali bounced back a step to give Taiia some space and recovered with a smile over her pink lips. "I'm Cali. Cali Ziiva. Engineer Extraordinaire of Locke & Key Mechanics. But make no mistake! That shuttle was built like a brick. I mean, prettier than a brick, but-- I think it's all the Negative Energy around here, you know? Like, what's up with that?"

At first Taiia was surprised by the hug before but just as quickly as she had thrown her arms around her she had pulled back to look her in the eyes and tell her about the zombies, she had to grin at the presentation and the whole absurdity of it all, she found herself let out a small chuckle, and yet again almost as quickly she bounced back from her a bit increasing the space between them a little. "Well, what were zombies doing on your ship exactly?" she raised an eyebrow as she listened to her theory and she allowed her eyes to look around the valley.
"Well there is definitely a darkness here so you should probably stick with me Cali." one thing about the curious and bubbly pink girl before her, Taiia could sense the force potential in her. Giving a warm smile she simply motioned for her to follow and began to walk "Engineer extraordinaire huh? What do you work on primarily Cali?" the redhead would turn to look at her, green eyes appraising her, trying to figure out what she was about. She had to grin a bit at the ship being built like a brick "Well, that shuttle may have been built like a brick but I will say I think the mountain still won" she winked at Cali as they walked.
She figured she would bring the Zeltron up to speed on her adventure "So Cali, probably not what you signed up for but I am heading toward a Jedi Temple that was built out somewhere in the Valley. It will be a bit before I head back to my ship and frankly it's dangerous to go alone, so interested in coming along?"

"There's more fun in numbers," the Zeltron agreed with a quick nod. That was her way of saying 'strength in numbers.' Because, lets face it, Cali spent more time partying than she did running around saving the galaxy or something.

"Huh?" Cali looked over at Taiia as they'd begun to walk. Hadn't been an ounce of objection or a bit of hesitation in the first step either. Totally hadn't just jumped out of a shuttle that crash landed on a planet after being hijacked by a zombie-ghost-thing. Nope. Everything was juuuust fiiiiiine. "Oh, bit of everything, really. If something needs fixed and no one else can figure out why, I fix it. If it needs built, I build it. Comes natural to me, really. Wouldn't know it from admiring my silken, pink skin though." A giggle was followed up by a toothy grin.

In fact, the Pink One had a talent for mechu-deru, purportedly known as a power of the Dark Side. Though anyone with an ounce of Force Sense knew Cali was a blinding beacon of Light. Like everything else about the Zeltron, it was one of those little mysteries -- up there with 'how have you survived this long?' You should see her Forcebook posts, and all the shenanigans.

A quick blink was followed by another grin and a gentle tap to the outside of Taiia's upper arm. "Hey," she playfully cried about the woman's remark of shuttles versus mountain.

"Jedi Temple?" She turned her head forward to look into the forest as if it were right there before them. A moment later she looked back at Taiia. "Here? Really? Kind of a weird place for a Temple, unless someone forgot to write down when the Jedi and Sith swapped philosophies. I trained under a Jedi Master, you know. Been waiting for the day I could return his lightsaber... but I can't find him anywhere." A soft sigh blew between her lips for a moment as she just dropped her life's story in Taiia's lap without even trying.

Oh, right. "So, yeah," Cali flashed another grin, "totally down with going with ya. I promise we'll get back to your ship in one piece. I mean, least I can do since you helped me, right?" And, yes, that was par for the course. The Eternal Helper -- even when Cali was the one seemingly in trouble, she would help you.

Shalita’s presence was never all too clear to many individuals, for no one expected an assassin to ever attend or tag along on a task assignment to help civilians. Then again, no one had ever truly known what her capacity amongst the CIS was, a fact that had been by design so then even if one of them was captured, they wouldn’t be able to give anything away. While people may or may not know that Darth Metus had a sister, the sister was rarely seen. Often labeled as elusive and that was how she had liked it. For a time. For a time it had suited her needs to stray away from others and simply be. However, a card game, a fire and a portal later, she had found herself thinking that perhaps she wanted more. More than what she had allowed herself in the past.

The woman had thought of it as some kind of bridge, one that’d gradually grow after a time and so as she accepted the ring given by one of the Sisters. She slipped it onto her index finger, of her right gloved hand and gently closed her hand into a fist before opening it once again. Wearing a ring was something different. It was a new feeling, after all, she had managed to avoid wearing any piece of jewelry… Until now, as they moved out her gaze gently looked from one person to the next in their group, paying attention to the smallest of details.

A slight smile graced her lips as Vytal spoke about danger. Danger? She laughed in the face of danger, Shalita thought to herself before pocketing gloved hands in quiet reflection about the rise of a new dawn. Many times had a new dawn risen over the planets that the CIS had helped rescue in one way or another. However, some might say that they weren’t saving the people but helping them trade one prison for another. If they helped them with the heart, were the people trading their dark cage for a gilded one instead? The assassin didn’t think so, for the CIS rarely told the planets what to do and what not to do. Except maybe ban slavery. After all, slavery had been on some planets at one point or another, they just helped liberate them and gave them their freedom back. The freedom to do their own thing. To be individuals in their own right.

It was at this point that her mind shifted to the thoughts of the spirits. To trust in the spirits wouldn’t be too hard. She’d seen them help before and so it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to think that they were with them now. Another thing that she would have to keep in mind. So much to learn and she had so many years to learn them in. Time was definitely on her side. Although as she thought this, her footsteps slowed and stopped while she felt a disturbance within the force. Vytal intoned a name, Nama, as if she was drawing upon the name to show her what hunted them. Shalita’s gloved hand was upon her lightsaber as it flared to life and she spun around so then icy blue eyes could view their surroundings.

Red eyes low to the ground slithered towards the group and the woman paused long enough to smirk towards Vytal. ”Seems like there is another trick that you’ll have to teach me one day,” Shalita said with a nod of her head towards the flame in the other woman's hand before she proceeded to lop the heads of the slithering beasts off with quick and fast movement while also making sure that she didn’t get surrounded by the little devils..

There was something in those woods. Like a odorless dark rancid hand slowly closing her claws all around her, as if she were a puppet that was knowing her master and loosing all of her free will. She was not moving towards her goals, she doubted now that she was actually going anywhere away from those woods, Ashelia was lost for good or so did she believed when she wondered about it. The funny thing was that she was not finding anyone else, she was all alone but yet, she could feel things all around her when she focused long enough for it. Not just living things, she could feel strange creatures running all around her.

“Now why can’t I find anyone?”, Ashelia asked out loud still walking past trees and woods, green big ones and some as pinkish as her hair brand. And the wind, that damn wind never stopped gushing the leafs to the ground, some got entwined in her long hair brand just to get really just to make her even more irritated by all that aimless path. “Only wished I found anything.”

“Why?”, She suddenly stopped and turned to gauze the voice that spoke to her, and out of the bushes came a familiar face. The stern and unchanging face of his father, Iedolas Aldercapt Solidor, King of Kaikielius and Duke of House Solidor. "Why would you want someone’s else help, child?"

Her mouth was slightly open, astonished, his violet eyes were wide. It had been almost thirty years since the two had met face-to-face, always communicating through missives, holograms, through their messengers. She had run away from Kaikielius, her father had told those he trusted that she had been exiled for her own sake, but that was a lie, Ashelia knew it very well and so did Iedolas.

“What… what are you doing here?”, she asked her father, analyzing each move made by her, each expression too tiny to be noticed from her stoic face. He tilted his head to the side as he had in the past, with a sharp smile on those thin, cruel lips.

“My beloved, don’t you know already?”, His eyes narrowed, in that cruel tone and full of mysterious mists. “I'm not.”, He almost whispered to her, his chest churning up and down while inside him came a humorless noise, the loud sound of his laughter took over the woods, something he never did. it did.

"You are a illusion ...", the father laughed for a long time until he finally nodded at her, agreeing with her. He raised his right hand, palm up, smiling and triumphant.

“Guilty as charged. At least for that ... ”, she noted that for an illusion, that ghostly Iedolas was almost identical to the other, even in his small additions to his speeches.

"Have I gone mad?", Her lips asked aloud, her free hand closed around her braid, smoothing the long lock of pink curls in an almost nervous gesture. The father approached her, curving his body like a tower and murmuring between his lips.

"My foolish child ...", her voice distorted, leaving her expressions to be obscured, replaced by shadows, leaving only those golden orbs shining for her to see. "We are all mad down here."

Vytal's eyes slid over to look at Shalita with a faint smile on her lips. "I cannot teach you everything at once. You would become bored." Now was a fine time for a little humor, or so the many soldiers that comprised the Confederacy seemed to be of a mind. The Witch was paying attention to them, even if they thought themselves 'beneath' notice. Only a fool ignored people skilled at war -- even those without spiritual power could be deadly. One of the many reasons she ventured to the stars, to learn of their ways and how to defend against them.
As the group set to work, the pale Witch extended her hands before her to lift the slithering serpents from the ground. They made easier prey for sword and blaster alike when they held still.
"Come. It knows why we have come, and where we are. It will only grow more dangerous now." Perhaps some would think that obvious, but it was not as obvious as it would seem. How did the Nightmother know what she'd said? Evil rarely grew tired or laxidasical. Arrogant, yes, but not of weak will -- its drive was often consuming, which drove it to lofty heights to fill its grand ambitions. In this case, to consume a world.
Once the group was secure, Vytal would lead them over the crest of the valley and into its depths. Hopefully Haven and Aadya would continue to warn them of further alarm ahead of their path. They could not afford to delay any longer. However thick the darkness became, whatever beasts it managed to conjure in the time left to it, they would brave it and end the living nightmare upon this world.
Withered trees seemed to bend in over the ground as they moved. Their groans and creaks followed branches that grew slowly closer to the ground. Those that lingered in one place long would not find the prickly embrace welcoming nor long in this world.
Howls in the distance belied of wolf-kin eager to set upon a feast. While the shrieks and cackles of wildlife grew around them; was it merely to taunt and distract, or had the blighted valley come to new life with hungry eyes on those that threw themselves forth?
Soon they might even come upon a woman that seemed lost in the dark world. A perplexing condition, which Vytal at first glance regarded suspiciously. Yet, the woman seemed alive and real enough. "Why are you here alone? The forest is not safe here," the Nightmother announced to Ashelia Solidor Ashelia Solidor .

“You aren’t real, you are not here!”, she screamed with all the ir inside her lungs as her hands swung the sword in the air in anger, as if she would managed to cut the sinister apparition in half, but all her father did was laugh at her with scorn. A dry charming, rusty sound that was too perfected in her memory to be forgotten by her even if she wanted to, as her two lilac eyes noticed as he laughed with pleasure to see her fail again, for none would be able to rid themselves apart to the ghosts they carried in their lives, she was no exception of it.

“What a mediocre child you are!" his ghostly shape shouted to her completely taken by hate. “How dare you raise your weapon against me? I, that gave you life. That made you take your first breath!”

“You are a liar! You used me to your dealings, to achieve your power and gain more influence!”, Ashelia found herself responding wildly, the sharp canines in her mouth slammed against one another as her voice altered from what it really was almost growled to her father. The ghost merely stood there, watching her with a smile on his lean lips,

“You are nothing but a failure just like your mother!”, She dropped to her knees when she heard those words, feeling the damp earth touching the fabric of her borrowed clothes. Her eyes stung as her tears ran hot down her cheeks, both hands closed her fingers around the green grass of the forest, and she kept her eyes focused downward, watching in silence as a single tear fell over her ring. An ugly little thing of pure gold that meant everything to her. This had been a gift from Sylva Tenebrae, her late mother, and almost immediately she was able to hear the late queen's voice in her ear. A sound that seemed vivid, for she smelled the warm scent of flowers on her breath behind her ear.

"Ashe ... Why do we fall?", And as if she had gone completely mad, Ashelia saw her mother's invisible hand in front of her, reaching out to her while she, standing for a moment analyzing it, remembered her answer. Answering her as she rose.

"So we learn how to pick ourselves up again.", She turned towards her father's ghost. Standing with a confused expression on his serious and hard face. “I reject you, ghost. Go back to your realm in peace.”, After saying this she turned her back on him, ignoring his protests, his offenses, his curses and demands, Ashelia continued walking with her head held high. She did it for what seemed like a long time, alone and only with the comforting sound of the wind in the trees and the howls of Iedolas farther and farther back, she did it until she found someone, although, she could almost certainly say it was her that had been found, or rescued. Her eyes lit up like two headlights, taken by pure happiness.

"Oh ...", her mouth asked, a sound of pure relief as she let her arms fall again to the sides of her body. "Thank the Gods ... I was certain I would never see someone else ever again ...", she snorted shortly thereafter, Ashelia almost ran like a blind beast until she got there and seeing another living being was almost a dream come true. “This wood… is endless… or it seems that way.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name. I’m Ashelia, it is very nice meeting you.”
She said those and raised her hand, palm up with her arm stretched like a spear and a honest smile on her lips.

Currents of spiritual energy were perturbed in the surrounding forest, which was hardly surprising. Dark spirits were given power here fueled by the darkness that crept across the world. Even those that might be considered friends ( Nimue Nimue ) had come perhaps in part to bask in that darkness, but also to help the Confederacy curtail its spread; likely counter to a High Priestess' desire. Vytal herself was not against darkness having its sway as it did on Dathomir, but in so far as the Nightsisters were concerns Dathomir had ever been a source of darkness. To see it consume a world before one's very eyes seemed counter to maintaining the Balance.
So it was surprising to find a woman wandering this land unaccompanied.
"Nightmother Noctura," the pale Witch responded. Her hand lifted to hover it over that of Ashelia's, and to take her hand if that was her custom. "Vytal. I can feel the lingering touch of this land... Did you encounter anything in the woods?" It was a chance for the woman to be forthright, and perhaps reveal something useful of the place. Though it would not be held against Ashelia if she did not fully understand her own experience.
"Our group intends to progress deeper to end the spread of corruption on this world," Vytal added after a moment. "It will be dangerous, but no more so than if you set out alone. We can protect you." Seeing how the woman hadn't perished already, perhaps she would even be of benefit to the group. Perhaps sheer luck or absolute refusal to submit to the darkness could be considered a skill.

Damsy Callat Damsy Callat

In it's beginning, Rannon was unblemished. But then a fallen Jedi descended on the peaceful world, using abominations of the Force to stain their lands. For a brief period of time, corruption was stayed by the mountains and natural obstacles that were at the disposal of the planet. But even that was not enough to stop the poison that slowly seeped into every valley, every glade, every plant and animal of the breaking planet.

But somehow, Rannon still had a cantina where the drinks flowed freely and the Sabacc opponents were fresh and their pockets full. And that was more than enough to entice High Marshal Kiff Brayde to the corrupted world.

A dark, cloudy liquid swirled and thundered in a large tankard next to the High Marshal; Port-in-a-Storm, Kiff's signature drink. He'd been surprised that the bar on Rannon had the ingredients or knowledge to make it, but he wasn't complaining. Kiff sat up against the small, circular wooden table, collecting a pile of credit chips and odd trinkets as his now-defeated opponent stood up angrily to go to buy another drink at the bar. Was gambling a responsible thing for Kiff to do on a world that was slowly being corrupted by powers he couldn't even comprehend?

No, but then again, when was Kiff ever responsible?
