I do have a question actually: can a force user join a non-force user faction? Or are they restricted to Jedi/Sith factions?

You can pretty much play any kind of character over here without having to worry about their force sensitivity, meaning you can play a Jedi inside the galactic alliance, a sith inside the Brotherhood of the Maw, the Sith Order or whatever else (inside of the senate why not), an Imperial knight wherever you please... It's up to you to write the story of your character and decide what best suits them. Sometimes, faction staff might tell you this or that doesn't really fit, but it's rare to be outright refused because you tried to join. You should always find sympathetic people to help you grow your rp

You can have a force user be head of a criminal empire. Or part of a cult. Nudge nudge, wink wink. And whatever else you desire.
