Once the CS-01 was finished the Hekler'Kok began work on another, yet very different, weapon geared towards close quarters combat, the Sub-Machine Gun-Model 01 or SMG-01. Like before the R&D team began by choosing the materials they would use in the weapons construction. Like the weapons before it they their patented Titanium-Alusteel alloy to construct the upper and lower receivers, barrel and internal mechanisms thought once again it's light weight as negated with the thickness of the metal being used for recoil reduction and reinforcement of key areas. The barrel was lined with Chromium to reduce wear and tear, Plastoid was used to construct the stock, grip and handguard for it durability and light weight and finally it was plated in CeramiCoat to reduce wear and tear on the outer portions of the weapon.
Once the materials overall design of the weapon was chosen the R&D team began working on the final details: the features in the weapons. First came the usual ambidextrous controls that are typical of Hekler'Kok weapons. Next they added a telescoping stock to enhance the weapons already substantial concealability. A grip/accessory rail was added so that users could use a variety of foregrips and accessories such as flashlights and laser sights. An optic rail was added to facilitate the use of a wide variety of optics. Last to finish it off the added a threaded barrel to allow the use of muzzle devices such a compensators, muzzle brakes and suppressors.
