Approved NPC Grave Covenant of Lidoen

Death Covenant Guardians

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name:
    • Grave Covenant of Lidoen
  • Affiliation:
  • Classification:
    • Elite Undead Infantry & Guardsman
  • Description:
    • The Grave Covenant of Lidoen are an impressive force of undead skeletons raised by Sith Necromancy by Korious Tharenai to serve as the elite infantry for the Undead Thralls. Although they are undead, they still have a small trace of the original warrior inside of them. The Unit Emblem of the Grave Covenant is a large golden jagged mouth implanted upon their armor which symbolizes there desire to consume all that stand against them for their master. Standing quietly beside him, they wear fearsome skull mask over their already undead face to make their enemy flee in terror. Their single purpose is to act as leadership of the Undead Thralls of Lidoen. although they do have some of the behaviors of their former selves such as drinking, gambling and other things that would make anyone believe that they are human.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size:
    • Medium
  • Unit Availability:
    • Rare
  • Unit Experience:
    • Elite
  • Equipment:
  • Combat Function:
    • The Grave Covenant are designed to fight in a packed formation, using such formations to better take on a larger number of troops that stand against them. Although they can fight effectively against a single opponent on the field they are more likely to be working in pairs or small groups to fight against the more specialized units of the enemy. As an elite unit, they are trained to operate with peak effectiveness due to having a small piece of their warrior soul inside, that still recalls how to maintain a weapon and use tactics without the direction of the necromancer but do require direction if required to do a tactic that is erratic. Normally in a larger army, they provide the backbone of the army. Driving the Undead Thralls forward to overwhelm the enemy with sheer numbers on the field. They generally do not need support as they are more than able to defend themselves but will engage in teamwork if necessary for a common goal.
Strengths:
  • Undead
    • Being undead warriors, they lack several biological limitations that occur to humanoid warriors. Such has feeling pain, the need to sleep or eat. This allows them to operate at all times as an effective unit and makes them more harder to take down due to them not having the vulnerability of organics such has having organs that when damaged can lead to death. They also have superior strength compared to a normal organic, due to the dark side of the force empowering them because they don't have muscles
  • Heavy Armor
    • They come equipped with heavy armor compromised of Duraplast, which provides protection up to light grenades, Verpine shatter gun rounds, medium slugs and light laser cannon rounds. being reinforced, the armor becomes extremely resistant to EMP and Ion Cannon warfare. Duraplast also offered very strong protection against lightsabers. Due to being alchemized with sith alchemy, the armor has extra durability than normal.
  • Environmental Immunity
    • Due to being the undead, they also gain immunity to environmental factors that might make them weakened. Making them able to be used on all terrain and in all environments on many different planets, not limiting their effectiveness unlike organic units. Although this immunity doesn't cover deep space or acid and extremely corrosive materials because they are still vulnerable to having their bones being crushed and destroyed.
  • Soul of the Fallen
    • The Grave Covenant having been raised from the dead, stillhouse some semblance of the soul that used to reside within. This allows them to operate weaponry and pilot starships that they otherwise might not be able to without it. With this they can also develop tactics on the battlefield, although they do require direction to operate complex tactics that would require an organic brain to think about. Making them formidable combatants because they can fight like they once did when they were still alive.
Weaknesses:
  • Light Side of the Force
    • Due to being made by sith necromancy, light side force powers can cause immense harm to the Grave Covenant and make them considerably less effective on the battlefield, allowing an opponent the opportunity to best them quite easily if they are skilled enough. Force Light from a powerful jedi can cause them to immediately crumble and send the souls of the fallen back into the netherworld. Although they can survive regular force powers such as force push, they lack considerable protection from force powers.
  • Void Stone or Ysalamiri Bubble
    • When pressed into a ysalamiri bubble or by the use of a void stone. They will immediately crumble into dust and sending their fragmented soul hurling back into the netherworld of the force due to needing the force to empower them and keep them from crumbling back down into immobile skeletons.
  • The Element of Fire
    • Due to being compromised of bones, they are extremely weak to the element of fire and will find themselves burned to smithereens or charred black and unable to be revived again by the summoner because they have already been sent back into the netherworld of the force. This makes them vulnerable against opponents who wield flamethrowers or use pyromancy unless they are backed up by other units which can distract enough for them to get in and attack.
  • Decapitation
    • Due to being undead, they have a vulnerability to being decapitated as that will shatter the connection to the rest of their bodies and make them unable to operate their body, as it will crumble into a pile of bone and send the fragmented spirit within back to the netherworld of the force. They also can't be revived on the battlefield by a necromancer because their spirit is too far gone to pull back from the netherworld. Meaning that an opponent can thin the numbers of the covenant with considerable ease using decapitation.
  • Necromancer Dependent
    • Much like the Undead Thralls of Lidoen the Grave Covenant will instantly crumble if the necromancer is killed or out of the 50 meter range required to sustain their existence.
  • Sacrifice to Replenish
    • The Grave Covenant can only be replenished through the sacrifice of friendly units on the battlefield. Along with such a clause is that only warriors can be raised from the dead and not citizens.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Grave Covenant of Lidoen came into existence through a necromancy ritual on the Tomeworld of Necropolis in the Core Worlds. The Second Exalted Prophet Korious Tharenai traveled to the world with a small company of Arcane Spellcasters to search amongst the crypts and tombs of the world to discover ancient and modern warriors that they could revive to serve the Techno Magorum. Knowing to himself that the Techno Magorum would not survive for long without significant forces backing them up.

Korious would invoke the ritual to revive those that he picked on the world; sacrificing the lives of the Arcane Spellcasters in order to bring the fragmented souls from the Netherworld of the Force through the assistance of the Eldritch Power known as the Great Vortex. Binding those souls back into their former bodies and empowering them with the vortex's might to still be able to operate their weaponry and equipment as if they had muscles.

These ancient and modern warriors would serve as the foundation for the New Techno Magorum Warhost and thus be branded the Grave Covenant of Lidoen after a Techno Magorum Sorcerer who first used sith necromancy in service of the techno magorum and whom was killed by the Old Sith Order on Korriban. Transporting them back to Skraalzzar through several back networks scattered across the galaxy. They would begin to serve as the Officers and Elite Infantry Force for the Undead Thralls of Lidoen.
The Grave Covenant come equipped with several benefits such has being undead, wearing heavy armor and gaining the traits and experience of the former warriors due to being the fragmented soul of the past within them. They have taken up residence on Skraalzzar which is the personal abode of the Techno Magorum Tribe after their exodus from Weik due to the death of Arimurkhan the Defiler.

Just a few quick things on this one.

  • Equipment: Per the Restricted Materials rules, alchemized items are restricted, and may only be used in submissions where the quantity is semi-unique or below. Because this is a Rare availability, Medium size unit, they may not use Semi-Unique equipment (see this post for the allowable equipment chart). However, "Alchemized artifacts/items where the only effect is increased resilience are not considered to be restricted materials," and you specify in the Strengths section that the alchemization is for durability. This can work, but please note directly in the Equipment section that the armor is alchemized only for increased resilience.
    • Something like Alchemized (Increased Durability) Duraplast Battle Armor

  • Weaknesses: Decapitation works better here, because you note that it doesn't just destroy the Grave Covenant, it makes them impossible to raise again. However, I notice that there's no mention of being necromancer-dependent in this sub. Are the Grave Covenant self-sustaining undead, unlike the Thralls? I'm also curious about how the Grave Covenant are replenished, given that Korious sacrificed the lives of arcane spellcasters to raise the first batch. Does animating them always require a sacrifice? Can they only be raised from the corpses of warriors, and not civilians? These would be appropriate things to add to Weaknesses if true.

  • History: I'm still confused about why these guys are "of Lidoen" if Lidoen is a dead guy that they never interacted with. It feels kind of like naming a modern Filipino rebel group "the Legion of Ronald Regan", and saying "wow, we really stuck it to the US there," even though they're not directly fighting the US and none of them have ever had anything to do with Ronald Regan.

I believe I fixed everything required.

Please let me know.
