SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Starburst Cannons emit small luminous spheres trailed by a streak of bright colour. This effect appears very similar to Starhammers, but with drastically different results upon detonation - instead of a contained explosion, a Starburst detonation releases unpredictable arcs of searing plasma. While inherently inaccurate, this effect is exceedingly destructive and difficult to predict and by extension evade.
STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES
  • Deadly Fireworks: Starburst Cannons are named after the magnificent - and deadly - lightshows they produce. 'Plasmatic shrapnel' bursts forth from the projectile in a manner that is as unpredictable as it is lethal. This effect is exceptional at taking out starfighters.
  • Close and Personal: Starburst Cannons would do great against capital warships, but their range leaves much to be desired.
DESCRIPTION
Starburst Cannons are short, squat cannons typically seen jutting forth from the hulls of starships and the fortifications of fortresses. In contrast to their inelegant appearance, the orbs they launch produce magnificent explosions well-suited to shredding starfighter squadrons - or melting the hull of a rival capital ship, should it foolishly stray close enough to be in the metaphorical 'splash zone'.

These weapons are more often than not meant for point defence - especially if placed on static fortifications - but they can be used aggressively by bold commanders and unusual designs. If you want Starburst Cannons to run anti-capital duty, you better be prepared to get close and personal.
