[Corvus Raaf]

It’s been a funny old week in so many ways.

We started with the disappointing news that we lost Telti. Disappointing because it could have gone either way in truth - but we lost and have to see how the map shapes up.

Of course we haven’t taken our foot off the gas and have started a dominion on Brentaal IV which you can join in here if you wish.

There’s also a skirmish happening on Ruusan and although the slots were taken, you can always follow the action here.

And I’ll close out this short update with news that I’ll step down as FL at the end of July. This threatened to be a long narrative - but this is the Republic Weekly News, not the Corvus Weekly News, so all I’ll say is that we’ll start the voting process soon to allow time for a proper handover.

Very sad to see you step down! I've only been around for little over a month, but from what I've seen you've been doing amazing. On a more personal level, you made me feel welcome and involved when the forum was new and scary. I hope you won't leave the forum completely.

Being a Faction Leader is hard. Being a great Faction Leader is even harder, and you've managed to do just that for quite a long time. It's sad to see you go, but I bet it feels good to have that weight of responsibility off of your shoulders now. Trust me, it feels pretty great.

But it'll be a hard slot to fill in once you're out of the spot. Hopefully we've got enough trustworthy, wise, and hilariously awesome candidates once the voting process has started.

Thanks for leadin' us through good times and bad. If you ever need anything, you know where to find us.

Anyway, it's sad to see you go. You've been a fantastic FL -- the one GR deserves.

Well I hope we can get another person as great as you to fill the role. You've done a good job at things. Keeping a horde as large as you have in line isn't easy. I had far less numbers then you when I lead a major faction (Another account). Though that was the reason it fell apart. Anyways, hope you will still be around. We need folks like you to take the Sith Lords on!

I never intended this to be cryptic or attention-seeking - but given the questions, I'll share a few words:

1. I am not leaving the boards - I love Star Wars and I love writing, why would I leave?

2. I am not leaving the Republic - I joined the boards to RP Obi-Wan in a dress (with a smattering of Hermione thrown in for good measure). But I suspect you'll see less of me, given it's no fun for whoever takes over to wonder what opinion the former FL is going to pass. But whoever does take over will have my support 100%

3. I will continue to post but for a variety of reasons will keep away from public threads. And my Padawans will remain my Padawans unless they want to leave me of course

I have the utmost admiration, gratitude, and respect for the job that you, [member="Corvus Raaf"], have done for and with the Galactic Republic (and this goes equally for [member="Seraphina Shel'tah"] and [member="Kian Karr"], as well). It is not an easy job to lead so many people, or to manage a group of writers within a faction in open IC conflict with another group of dedicated writers. Over the course of my time here, you all have proven that you are all extremely capable of the responsibility. Whoever takes over has some very, very large shoes to fill.

Most importantly, though, I'm very glad to hear that we don't have to say goodbye. Much more than your value to all of us peons: you're good folk, and it's nice to have good folk around.
