---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS :
  • Survivalist: Lok, like all Valkyri, posses an innate knowledge of survival skills that he's been learning and developing almost since birth. He's a strong man, but strength can only get you so far. There is a drawback to this skill, however, which isn't exactly his fault for living on Midvinter for his whole life. Cold temperature environments are best suited to his needs, but his proficiency will allow him to easily pick up skills in different environments.
  • Educated: An unusual trait of his kind. Being the son of a merchant and craftsman, Lok often found traces to the outside world and the galaxy at large. As a child, he grew up reading tales of adventures among the stars and eventually began to teach himself to read and write as well as studying math and sciences.
  • Flyer: Over the course of his career, with both the Jedi and the underworld, Lok has gained a rather innate sense of astrogation, navigation, and piloting. Any craft smaller than a corvette or so, he can probably fly it. He's far from the best pilot in the galaxy, as much as Lok enjoys claiming such a title, but he's good - real good.
  • Rebel Fighter: His time spent as an operative and later commander of the Rebel Alliance has taught him many a thing about warfare. Guerrilla tactics, how to use firearms, cover and concealment, as well as evading the enemy.
WEAKNESSES:
  • Outcast: Due to his nature as a loner, Lok was regularly excluded from childhood activities during his younger years. His personality strikes a bold contrast with that of a stereotypical Valkyr, often keeping to himself and trying in vain not to be a loud and obnoxious person.
  • Alcoholic: Yep. He's pretty sure all Valkyr are as well.
  • Stubborn: Once he's made up his mind, it'll take a Hrothwurm to change his mindset. His intuition helps him make precise decisions, unlike most, but his ideals and mindset will not waver even in the fiercest of battles. Also, Lok has a tendency to openly mock and denounce most sorts of leadership and authority. Reckless behavior, on his part, also has a tendency of getting him stuck in situations that has absolutely no chance of success.
  • Lingering Darkness: As a former pirate and part of the lowlife villainy of the underworld, Lok's seen and done many things he regrets. Anger, hatred, despair, and grief are all things to which he is susceptible to. As a result of a lifetime spent destroying the darkness, Lok had adopted rather aggressive tendencies when in battle. Such a thing really isn't the greatest habit a Jedi should have.
  • Crippled: Not exactly in a sense, but his right arm is long gone. Since the battle of Geonosis, it has long since been replaced by a proper mechanical prosthetic.
LIGHTSABER SKILLS:
Skill Ranking: Beginner, Novice, Proficient, Expert, Master

  • Djem So: This is Lok's chosen art in the ways of the Jedi. As a Sentinel he focuses primarily on saber skills and combat awareness, thus making this form his selected one. {Expert - Training}
  • Shii-Cho: The staple of the Jedi's lightsaber forms. As a balanced form and easy to use and learn, Lok considers this his secondary form when using Djem So isn't necessary or is too exhausted. He's been learning this form since joining the Jedi Order. {Novice}
NOTABLE ABILITIES:
Skill Ranking: Beginner, Novice, Proficient, Expert, Master

  • Art of Movement: {Master}

APPEARANCE:
Following his long and challenging years on both Midvinter and with the Silver Jedi Order have left Lok a strong and hardy man. Tall, muscular, and armed with looks that ladies swoon for are the very defining traits of a scoundrel. He's proud of the several tattoos that he has collected over the years, same goes with the scars. As for his attire, he typically wears the standard orange flightsuit that most rebel pilots adorn, or opts for more tactically inclined clothing for ground operations. Loose-fitting and relaxed clothing, usually of darker shades, are what Lok enjoys when it comes to civilian attire.

BIOGRAPHY:
Lok Jorunn was born on Midvinter to one of the smallest clans in the Valkyrian kingdom. He led a fairly simple life, his earliest years being the happiest as he learned to speak and loved his parents more than anything. His father, Einar Jorunn, happened to be a merchant for the clan and helped the little village of theirs prosper using whatever methods he could. Lok's mother, Sylvia, was a peaceful and cheerful mother. Sylvia was an assistant ironsmith and often an assistant to her husband during the task of supplying their little business with products of weapons, armor, and metalworks.

Lok's life was an enjoyable one. For the most part.

During the coldest season of Midvinter, he and his parents annually traveled to the other tribes to sell their wares, learn news, and visit old friends. When he was 7, they took their trek across the frigid lands in order to make a profit and bring back money to their village. Around this time, Lok had learned the very basics of swordsmanship from his father and toted around a flimsy metal sword that he so prided himself with. Little did the Jorunn family know, this was the worst season to travel in besides the fact that the temperate dropped steeply. Their ignorance would soon change the fate of the young boy that journeyed alongside the caravan.

As the family pressed on through the earlier hours of night, when light from the sun was just barely visible, it happened. Tremors shook the earth and the caravan and their horses were thrown across the ground, sending the family scrambling for cover. The focal point of the terror broke through the surface of the ground: a Hrothwurm. The beast wailed cries of anger and agony. Lok knew of these creatures, they only attacked when provoked. As the startled Valyr recovered, the Hrothwurm noticed their presence near the destroyed caravan and swooped in for the kill. Einar and Sylvia responded faster than anyone Lok had ever seen. With their swords and shields drawn, the Jorunn family would make their final stand against all odds. Eyes ablaze, Einar charged the beast after narrowly avoiding its first strike and attempted to batter its flank while Sylvia took to distracting the monster, the flow of coordination was almost to the point of the mother and father acting simultaneously.

It seemed that the Jorunns were dishing out a little damage as the scaled beast faltered. Survival seemed to be an almost real thing until the wurm spotted the young boy near the debris of their trading ware. It lunged at the boy as he cried out, sprinting off in an instant. He wouldn't make it. As the hot air from the nostrils of the beast came ever closer to his form, a war cry resounded from behind him as his father dove forward and tackled his son to the ground just as jaws snapped above them. "Run!" Einar commanded, a frosted sweat beading upon his brow. Before Lok could respond, his father was gone. As he turned to rush back into the fight, muscular jaws clamped around his waist with a bloodcurdling crunch before being flung across the valley.

Tears welled up in his eyes as his father was ripped apart by the fiend. As the boy screamed for his dad to return to his side and run away with he and his mother, Sylvia was rushing into battle in a frenzy that would frighten a berserker. Her crystal blue eyes met Lok's. "I will always love you." Those words echoed about the frigid valley as she rushed in to save Einar, batting away the snapping jaws with her shield and parrying vicious claw strikes. Lok couldn't move an inch. His blood was as frozen as the ground beneath his boots. As his mother was caught off guard and knocked on to the ground, the tiny blade was drawn and a high-pitched wail of anger erupted from the depths of his being as he threw himself at the monster. A quick flick of the thing's tail sent the seven year old flying before smacking face first into snow.

Everything went black.

Upon waking up, it was daytime. More importantly, Lok wasn't lying in the snow with the screams of battle ringing out near him. Rather, he was laying in the back of a wagon being carted by horses. After meeting the strange folk who had picked him up, he learned of his parents. Apparently these travelers of the Far North had discovered their bodies and Lok's, however, he was the only one still breathing.

With nowhere else to go, Lok continued on with the travelers to the Far North and settled down by his lonesome. Refusing offers to enter a children's home, the young boy matured at a faster pace and strained himself each and everyday to become stronger than he was before so that the people close to him would never suffer. That is, if people could even get close to him anymore. His solitary and stoic nature drove away females and fellow warriors alike.

He was an outcast. His future was blurred.

And a blurry one it was. Life flew by before his eyes and he was standing at the footsteps of a Jedi temple when just the day before had been spent scrounging food for survival. Somehow, a Jedi had discovered his presence on Midvinter following a crash landing and their time together was spent in blissful moments. Lok was immediately introduced into the Silver Jedi Order and trained with them until becoming a knight after eleven hard, but rewarding years. He soon became the leader of the Silver Shadows and was quite possibly one of the most experienced special forces agent the Order had ever seen. It was then that he stopped thinking like a Jedi and more like a soldier. Lok analyzed governments like enemy forces and started to see faults in the Jedi way of life. Carrying a rifle felt more natural than holding a saber.

So he left. He left with what little possessions he had and turned to the Red Ravens for support. On a secret assignment for the Silver Shadows, he had been operating with them for years and was only known by the codename "Saint." As easily as he could and without blowing his cover, he joined their ranks as a loyal member.

The years went on. Slowly but surely Lok began to stray away from the shadows as, well, a Jedi Shadow. The Rebel Alliance called out to him. Liberation, freedom, salvation were all things they pursued in their war against the Sith, so Lok opted to join the Alliance. Over the course of several years, Lok became one of their few commanders. Militant tactics and small victories made it all worth it, watching star destroyers erupt in flames over liberated worlds. While the community of the alliance was hardly a stress-free one, Lok finally found his place in the galaxy as an operative of liberty.

That is, until the rebellion finally fell.
